  1. Couldn't agree more. Just tells you how gullible people are. "Oh, it's 4G, that's one more G than before so it's better." They couldn't just say it's LTE or quote speed numbers... They have to make the ITC change what is considered 4G so they can market to sheeple who have to have a special term to understand.
  2. The ITU amended what can be considered 4G to include technology that can be upgraded and meet the standards. Since LTE-A, WiMax 2 and HSPA+ (some number) will meet 4G standards, their predecessors can be considered 4G.
  3. That is impressive. I hadn't seen a high speed camera recording of the difference. I know it feels a lot smoother, now I know why...
  4. Excellent research! I see I was down the right path, just analyzing the wrong sport.
  5. You nailed it! I could run down the list of times that facts were "bent" at the Sprint store, but I'll spare the details. They are salespeople, do you think the car dealer is going to give you the news that the manufacturer is about to release the next model year with an engine that is 25% more efficient and more powerful? Of course not, they sell you the about to be outdated model, get the commission and might sell you the new car a year or two down the road. If that experience turns you off, it's no skin off their back, they already have their commission in their pocket and you are just one less in a giant pool of brand faithfuls. It sucks, but that is the downfall of the commission system. At least the employees aren't lazy and unwilling to help anyone...
  6. Sorry if I came off gruff. I just watch all the behind the scenes stuff that Robert does here, and I don't know how he does it all. I know that nobody is being malicious in asking for articles/maps/answers etc, but it really grinds on someone who reads every post on the site and sees more posts that come off as asking for this or that than posts thanking him. I know Robert is pumped for the radio performance article, and would like to get it done as soon as he can because there are a lot of people waiting in anticipation for the results. Having experience researching and writing articles, it is a lot of work and it is going to be a lot of logistics for him to test that many phones at the same time and have the proof to back up his observations. It's one thing to post an anecdotal observation in the forums, but the results could be damaging to sales numbers (galaxy nexus) if this article is picked up by other news outlets. He needs to have his ducks in a row or we might not have this site to share knowledge with each other.
  7. Whatever they do with these devices, they need to make sure there is a rockstar WP device on both Sprint and Verizon. It's tough to get any kind of US app development going when you only have decent phone models on carriers covering less than half the wireless subscribers in the US.
  8. Both the dude and Walter Sobchak are among the best movie characters ever created.
  9. Yes, you should. I watch it in regular rotation with Slap Shot and Caddyshack.
  10. I've been containing the Lebowski references long enough... its been killing me
  11. There aren't even benchmarks set for 5G... The hype machine is rolling full bore.
  12. You watched the DVD version instead of the censored for TV version? It cracks me up every time. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/2726955/big_lebowski_dude_do_you_see_what_happens_do_you/
  13. 2020, that is when you can talk about 5G. Anything else would be ludicrousness.
  14. "Do you see what happens, Larry? Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the alps? This is what happens, Larry! This is what happens when you feed a stoner scrambled eggs!"
  15. I don't know why they ever wasted tax dollars on this in the first place... if you are stupid enough to get that dns changer virus on your computer, go to best buy and have them fix it or buy a new one
  16. What's this "enthusiast program"? lol
  17. Not to shoot holes in your logic, but the Nexus S was released May 8th 2011, while the HTC Evo 4G was released June 4th 2010. A more apt comparison might be between the Nexus S and EVO 3D (June 24th 2011) or OG EVO and Nexus One (Jan 5 2010 release) The Nexus S will likely see more software upgrades than the EVO 3D. The Nexus S already has ICS and is on the docket for Jelly bean, while HTC said that the EVO 3D will be upgraded to ICS, and the HTC EVO V 4G (rebranded 3D) has ICS. It hasn't rolled out yet AFAIK... I highly doubt the EVO 3D will see any further upgrades though. The OG EVO has been retired for software upgrades, as well as the Nexus One. Evo retired at Android 2.3.3 with the Nexus One retiring at 2.3.6 I will say though, the Nexus line, seems to do a lot better on new operating systems than other phones. It seems like Google really takes their upgrade seriously and wants the phone to be able to access all the new features in the new OS, instead of just rolling out an upgrade to "please" the customers, like some OEMs have done. I am a big fan of the Nexus line and will not go back to anything other than vanilla android. All that other nonsense just bothers me.
  18. Information in the thread I merged your post into should answer your question.
  19. Apple refuses to call the cellular 850 band by its descriptive name and continues to call it 800. No current version of iPhone will run on 800 SMR when Sprint begins to offer CDMA on it. This question has been answered many times over in this forum. Please use the search bar in the upper right hand corner in the future rather than starting a whole new thread to ask a question. Thread locked.
  20. This looks pretty convincing http://androidcommunity.com/samsung-and-google-working-on-mystery-nexus-device-20120514/ Building the exynos processor into AOSP... unless HTC plans to put exynos processors in their phones
