They used to have the deal where you could get an early upgrade after a year for $75. I don't know why they ended that. If they don't keep all the varying upgrade levels from this promotion, I'd like to see at least the $75 mid contact upgrade come back. Or at least offer an upgrade at cost at their corporate store... I missed that the first time I read it. I also see the promotion expires April 14th. If I was a betting man, I would bet we don't see LTE devices until the 15th. All these promotions they have been having might get them in trouble down the road when people see LTE releasing and they don't have an upgrade available for another year+. I can see the posts on the sprint message boards "I've been a sprint customer with 6 lines for 14 years and now I have these 4G phones that don't work on my local 4G network and the corporate greed of Sprint won't let me get a LTE phone! I would definitely do it. Especially if you upgraded a year or more ago. The Evo 3D would still be cheaper than it was at launch, and while it may have lost some of it's luster in comparison to the E4GT, it is still a good phone. Also with the amount of subsidizing sprint has to do on the iPhone, this is a great deal if you were looking at buying one of those. The whole upgrade program says it is a $150 discount, but on the flagship phones and especially the iPhone, it is a lot more that that. Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk

Sprintfeed reported that Sprint is about to offer an early upgrade program. It boils down to: Customers that have upgraded devices between 9-11 months ago would have an early upgrade fee of $165. Customers that have upgraded between 12-14 months ago will have an early upgrade fee of $125. Customers that have upgraded between 15-17 months ago will have an early upgrade fee of $95. ATT and Verizon are lobbying hard to get a bill passed that will open up spectrum auctions more and allow the 2 largest cellular carriers the opportunity to move closer to a duopoly. I was just thinking about this the other day. As was previously mentioned, trying to use the CDMA chip to send and receive and the WiMax chip to code would bog the system down. Also, why would they come out and say they were done with releasing WiMax phones if they could switch it to LTE with a mere software update. I read an article that said that in the future that LTE and WiMax technologies could converge, but that is a 1900 mhz WiMax to 1900 mhz LTE. It sucks though and I wish it was possible.

Yeah, it is easy to be critical from our perches, and by no means am I saying anyone in here is guilty of this, but people tend to get so annoying and "entitled" over at XDA. If I was developing a ROM I wouldn't even bother reading the comments, people treat them like they are employees but yet never donate for their work.

I'm imagining the bills look something like this "you currently are on the unlimited data plan, which gives you speeds of up to 40 Mbps if we have upgraded the network in your area to 4G and only while you are connected to a speed test site with no caps or throttling until you exceed 2 gb.

I hate when companies promise something and then it is either late to the table or they come out later and retract their statement. With MS saying that they want to unveil WP8 and Windows 8 around the same time, delays seem ominous...

Sprint's 3G sucks for video... Because it averages around 400kbps LOL I think it may be doubtful that the fire is offered by the carriers as a tablet, but it would open up more revenue for Amazon if people had 4G on their Kindle. They figure that each Kindle brings in over $130 in revenue for Amazon from users buying content. A 10 inch 4G Kindle Fire might bring in even more content purchases.
