  1. Those are Verizon Wireless small cells. Crown Castle has been installing those around my neighborhood for the last 30 days.
  2. Well I haven't seen any Sprint small cells in New York City light poles, but I have seen plenty of Verizon ones. In fact big evil red alone with crown Castle are installing small cells in my neighborhood (Morningside Heights, Columbia University campus)
  3. I don't like to read articles from fiercewireless because the same losers that have been bashing Sprint for years still there.
  4. Ottendorfer seems like he loves to talk a lot about network, and what is possible with the Sprint spectrum, very optimistic guy. Saw in the other hand likes to keep it short and simple, and only comes out when RootMetrics or any other publication release a positive Sprint article.
  5. Saw has done a good job as Sprint CTO since he has been on the position for over two years now. Neville is in another level anyways, dude does things in advance. He was the architect of getting the tmobile network with fiber backhaul in all metro areas back in 2008. Any clueless executive should had seen what the iPhone did to the AT&T network in 2007-2008. Hey Dan don't you think we should start preparation to get the Sprint network with Fiber backhaul. Had the Sprint network was fiber backhaul ready instead of T1, Sprint wouldn't had lost all those millions of subscribers, would had bought Metro PCS, and probably Cricket. The point is, you can't make a bonehead decision in this industry. There is not margin for errors when it comes to execution.
  6. It's boggles my mind that analysts, magentans and critics say : Sprint is only a wireless dumb pipe, while tmobile has BingeOn, Verizon Go and AT&T Directv. Well isn't Sprint parent company Softbank has a lot of different Ventures etc. I am pretty sure once Sprint LTE network is fixed everywhere, fast and reliable that Softbank will integrate others businesses into Sprint.
  7. Tmobile only bid AWS3 in very small pockets around the country. TMOBILE and Verizon will need more spectrum, and this is why Dish will have these fighting and bidding for their assets. While those carriers scramble for more spectrum Sprint will be riding on densification and deploying extra Carriers on the 2.5ghz band. This is why they are rushing to the 5G hype, and using very high bands that won't penetrate paper bag.
  8. Massive improvements for Sprint with the exceptions of Tucson, San Diego and Oklahoma. Obviously the upload speeds are included in the results otherwise Sprint would had won a handful of cities. Happy they beat Tmobile in their hometown of Seattle, but Sasha made the excuse of nobody being in the Sprint network, so if we will make that excuse that probably apply to Kansas city where Sprint is extremely popular. Can't wait for the next time around with 3x carrier aggregation, and a more dense network everywhere. The others carriers are at their peak already while Sprint hasn't even reached it yet.
  9. We are in mid 2016, and Sprint can't get their act together. The time keep passing by, and the others carriers keep executing. From 2013 to 2015 Sprint management team: "With our rich spectrum portfolio in the 2.5ghz band we will able to have a big advantage over our competitors LTE networks". Still the slower LTE network out of the big four, and the network regressing instead of improving (RootMetrics source) SPRINT management team in mid 2016 "Our 2.5ghz spectrum portfolio will be the lower band of 5G" This company always bragging about spectrum richness, but it doesn't make a difference if I is not deployed in a dense network.

  11. He doesn't have any new ideas, and if he tries to give customers more free stuffs then Tmobile margins will shrink from where they are. The winners here are Verizon and AT&T since they weathered the storm without huge drops.
  12. I think the spectrum auction will tell us what are comcast plans regarding wireless. Had Sprint only had around 8 billions in debt when Massa offered to Comcast, we would be talking about comcast wireless. Tmobile is basically unaffordable to anyone now, the only thing I see is a partnership like when Vodafone owned 45% of Verizon Wireless. If Sprint straight out their debts problems by 2019 - 2020 Comcast will buy them.
  13. Verizon has small cells everywhere in New York City. Their wireline division build the fiber conduits for their small cells.
  14. Sprint has made a lot of progress, but there is not way they are the faster LTE network yet. The network is simply very inconsistent. Rootmetrics.com and oakla say a different story when it comes to faster network.
  15. Moffett was quoted, but so many others Analysts and they came to the same assessment. Sprint problems of red tapes, slow network rollouts etc are due to that 34 billions debt. The management can't come out and say we will have a very slow roll out of small cells and macros because of our debt otherwise the stock will go from that 3.58 to 50 cents. They are basically buying time for what they are planning to do next. The company is in very bad shape because of the previous administration and board.
  16. Supreme Court rejects Sprint bid to set aside New York tax suit 10:48 AM ET • S • Jason Aycock The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by Sprint (S +4.5%) of an attempt by New York state to collect $300M in a tax case. The state says Sprint deliberately didn't bill customers for taxes on wireless service over seven years, amounting to more than $100M, and it's seeking triple that amount in total damages and penalties. Sprint had argued that federal telecom law applied rather than a New York law imposing sales tax on interstate mobile service. The decision leaves in place an October ruling in favor of New York. So Sprint will have to write a check of 300 millions to the state of New York when they are scrambling for funds.
  17. They got the extra spectrum via the MetroPCS acquisition otherwise they would be in the worst shape. They should send a bottle of whiskey to the Sprint previous board for blocking Hesse from buying MetroPCS otherwise Tmobile would be in the death ropes by now.
  18. The New York Tri state market needs a lot of work period. I convinced a couple of family members to switch to Sprint and they had a bad experience with their phones jumping all over to 3G. Obviously they went back to their respective carriers. RootMetrics got right, Verizon and Tmobile are neck and neck for the best carrier position in New York. One of the reasons why Verizon is the top dog is because you get the same consistency everywhere. Although Tmobile is impressive here in New York City due to their dense grid, you get 50 megabits down in a block then travel 5 blocks down and it drops to 2. Speed tests doesn't impress me because We need to look at the amount of customers carrier X has in that particular market compared with Carrier Y, and that impact the reports. Sprint problem is lack of consistency everywhere . I don't really care about extreme speeds unless I get consistency. Only Magentans are obsessed with speeds while Verizon customers doesn't really care.
  19. Sprint score is down because RootMetrics also test southern NJ as part of tri state Area. Sprint needs a lot of work in that area.
  20. Especially when the Dish spectrum is sitting around. Verizon has 120mhz total of Spectrum in New York City, but they won't shut down the 1x and 3g networks anytime soon. The problem with Verizon is that 3 and 4 networks are getting better and there won't be a need to pay those high prices they charge.
  21. They have mentioned several times the average is 120mhz in the top 90 markets. Regardless I don't think Sprint will need to deploy additional spectrum after 3xCA with 4x4 mimo down the road. This might Change unless they start adding a lot of customers per quarter.
  22. Perhaps the reason for this is due to not a dense network, and backhaul not optimized. With Sprint being in a cost cutting rampage I wouldn't be surprised thatany towers still don't have sufficient backhaul.
