  1. The Sprint goal was to preserve licenses. The only immediate benefit was to reduce roaming costs, thus speeds around 3g might be viewed as acceptable. Like many of the Wimax protection sites, I don't expect this to appear on coverage maps. The only one of these rural areas that Sprint has publicly committed to is Montana, thus I would expect them to be more fully expanded first. This has to be placed into the context of Sprint's goal of becoming profitable this fiscal year.

Besides decent backhaul, to truly serve an area you want overlapping sites - only one site was seen in Caspar on a drive through. The service from some of the Wimax protection sites was good. They were like an oasis in the desert. I would hope Sprint would at least rise to this level and make these moderately performing LTE sites. Then they could even put them on the coverage map.

  2. Ive posted on a different thread but i didnt get any replies :(

But can someone help me out with this question

Ive switched the liability of the account from personal to enterprise/business while ago. I still have the legacy ED 1500 plan for 3 of my lines. I was wondering is it possible to add another line of the same plan to the account

I remember someone posted that they added a new line with the same legacy plan..or maybe ive read it wrong

I believe you still can. You we need to have a knowledgable rep willing to do it.

  3. Ok. I was hoping that everything we do helps the network. Maybe if some Shentel employees here look at the info we share, then it will give them an idea of what needs the most improvement!

The sales force does not get all of the info we have, although Sprint has gotten dramatically better in supplying them info during the last few months.

I hit the coverage thing on the nTelos site. It took me here http://unlimityourdata.com/coverage/ .. It also includes 2 different coverage maps. One in the current state of what LTE (Says Exsiting Coverage as of April 2016) and another button that you can click right above it that says Projected Network Status by the End of 2018.

To summarize, every single nTelos site, covered by Shentel, or in the Columbus or Sprint WV Market, is to be converted to LTE within 32 months or so. The Sprint markets I am familiar with all have some 3G only sites. Quite a treat for nTelos customers. There will be enough B25 spectrum, that in some places where B41 is not available, it should not dramatically matter*.

Then Shentel is adding more than 150 additional coverage sites and rolling out major network upgrades inside the shaded area.http://welcometoshentel.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/shentel_coverage.png

The spectrum benefits will extend to a lesser extend into the southern and eastern portion of the expanded Columbus metro area, close to Richmond. plus other areas. This has also spurred other spectrum deals that extend the benefits even further.

*given new 1900 RRH possibilities or use of multiple 1900 RRHs per sector. The current RRHs will be maximized first to a much greater degree than usual.

  5. Thank God it wasn't just me. My phone reset on its own last night and I had to reconnect my google accounts. I thought the network errors all day in Grandview were related to the phone crapping out.

Just got reports that Methodist hospital near Upper Arlington and Grant Hospital downtown were fine at that time, so it was widespread but was also spotty.

  6. So I have only had the device for a couple hours, but so far so good. Good display. Very responsive. Coming from an iPhone 6s plus, I love the size, the feel, and the look of the device. A happy medium in terms of size. I think it is perfect. I'll put it through more later today when I get home from work and type up an update.

Shots of debug LTE screens please! Thanks.

  7. :td:

Sprint LTE network down in Columbus.  Started with B41 this morning and was back for a while, then all LTE died before lunch.

To get on 3G your must go to settings | Mobile Network | Network Mode and then change it to CDMA.  Don't forget to change it back to global later today.

  8. I will be curious to see the early results.  Hopefully rootable.  Plus other items on my list: good TX/RX, bandwidth, SCP support, turn off bands,  screen visibility in sunlight, etc. Ability to augment battery is always good.  Likely will make my decision a month after launch when realworld results are in.  Main competition at this point would be the LG G5 if they CAx3 support, or if S7 becomes rootable.

  9. Columbus is experiencing its third LTE 1900 expansion. What started as LTE 5x5 was expanded at many sites to 10x10 last year. Now a third expansion to 5x5 + 10x10 has begun. It has been observed at sites of all types, except GMO LTE which make up less than 1% of our sites. Currently more than 70 sites with 5x5 + 10x10 have been found, generally by people driving around doing their usual activities.

If you wish to know which sites have been found, or even to help out by providing peak signal data logs through Signal Check Professional ($3 or so), make a small donation to S4GRU for $10-20 or more by clicking on the donation item in the upper right corner here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/index

Question... can anybody explain why I am not even pulling 2 mbps up or down In the Barnett Rd and Livingston Ave area on my HTC M9? I dread these Clearwire Towers. #Sofrustrating.

The Clear sites as currently configured are at the end of their useful economic life and are reportedly no longer supported by their manufacturer. The US government views them as a security risk thus they are slated to be upgraded (to the best of our knowledge). The court case against Sprint likely delayed action on this by 4 months minimum (they could not make new plans while it was an uncertain resolution. Held up by a bunch of church people -- so your to blame ;). Since they generally measure time in millenniums rather than nano seconds, WiMAX was advanced technology to them! ).

Decommissioning of Clear sites only used for WiMAX has begun. We have also seen fiber going towards Clear sites broadcasting LTE, which could eliminate the current microwave bottleneck. Microwave is not bad, the Clear microwave has just been never upgraded in virtually all cases.

The way all Columbus Metro LTE 2500 is currently configured, even the Sprint LTE 2500 sites can not be upgraded to host a third LTE 2500 carrier for carrier aggregation (combining them for better speed for the latest phones, adding capacity for everyone else) until the Clear sites are upgraded.
