  1. More n25 arriving in Columbus. Seen on West side. Expanding. Shows on cellmapper n25 trails, but not sites so it may not be connecting yet else cellmapper needs an update. Still some B25 sites around plus B41 CA (2). The B25 sites no longer accept Sprint sim requests, so this is a final goodbye to my Sprint LG G2s. The LG G4 will also be entombed since it can not handle any version of Cellmapper I could find. My Sprint LG V2 still lives more or less on the T-Mobile network and AT&T (until their Grim Reaper finds it). Supposedly T-Mobile is back to giving away "free" 5G phones if you bring in one (not certain if this is dead or alive, but these work).
  2. LTE band locking appears possible, but NR band locking is rare. The OnePlus Nord N200 5G can be rooted in Android 11. Current on Android 12 which has numerous issues, including not updating the SCP status bar icon at all. In theory you can use a program to overwrite with Android 11. They will give you a code to unlock the boot loader a week after you run some software. Then their are rooting instructions on XDA developers. Then NSG. (Mine is already carrier unlocked). Historically Moto would do the same without the week delay (voids warranty) for their factory unlocked. The issue is both firms have new owners.
  3. Time to ask to for the next level or say you have a meeting you have to go to and you will be back another day.
  4. Forgot to send One Plus Nord N200 5g diags, so now sent. At what point does SCP capture the diags? When I press "Send Diagnostics" or when I actually send them?
  5. Source, which will disappear in 48 hours: https://edge.media-server.com/mmc/p/vhdsgk9d Analyst question answers: Dish is using spectrum secured bonds. SPAC is likely to unwind on the 31st. They got 139,000 customers from t-Mobile, but not included in numbers. At 35% of population with 10,000 towers. 600Mhz is very close to requirements. Boost infinite now in alpha (internal customers). $2 billion offering today for the network going forward. SPAC had high redemptions, but is still intact and a public company. Want each section of the business to be as self funding as it can be. Wireless has no debt or capex. Spac is just one option for retail business, which Ergan sees as a continuing part of their business. Boost Infinite - want to move our retail presence up market. Will be in market in the first quarter. Initially digital then national retail later. Prepaid customers get a better deal than postpaid. They want the better return of postpaid business which is actually less competitive. As new entrant they will be at a better price with better service. Boost infinite will start with AT&T and band 70. They feel they have a good playbook for moving customers. [lol] Will preload band 70 into our devices in 2023. Not a need to move t-mobile customers, who are happy, to AT&T. We would rather move customers to our network to get owners economics. There will be an M&A window after the election for Dish TV. Synergies important in a declining industry. Unless they waste the money, the government cover every man woman and child with broadband in the next few years. They plan on moving long term customers to band 70 devices for use on their own network. There is a section of customer you don't want to move because their handsets are not up-gradable or you are going to lose them due to churn. Boost will have both prepaid and post paid. prepaid are lower ROI customer. fixed wireless is use it or lose it in terms of excess spectrum. Hearing from commercial customers that access to CBRS or WiFi is not sufficient. They need more than one band of licensed spectrum. We are actually in a good position with our multi band spectrum today. Expect momentum to pickup in 2023 in terms of private networks. We have the ability to get 25% of that business. Not high revenue but not a lot of work and obviously very profitable. Really just looking for growth capital [in terms of SPAC I think]. In postpaid customers are so profitable you want to grow as fast as you can. $2 billion is needed to over 70% coverage to reach FCC requirements. will be in spitting distance of 75% for 600MHz. Roaming costs will then be how they determine where to build towers after that. Satellite to streaming? Sling had a strong quarter. Dish is focused on a more rural older demographic profile. Want to keep customers in the overall Dish ecosystem. Customers like broadcast TV. Hybrid MVNO network? How will you describe the amount of traffic to can send over your own versus MVNO. The last 30% cost as much as the first 70%. Only want to own profitable towers. 30 million subscriber in retail wireless is their goal. T-Mobile is running away with the market. Largest stock value. We have another way to compete with them rather than cap-ex [everywhere]. Need to migrate off the legacy T-Mobile [, AT&T, ] and Boost systems. Good long term use of their money. 10Q was written a little bit different. We have enough cash at DBS to pay off their debt. Media questions: Does Dish still have an edge? The other national firms are held down by their legacy systems [more or less]. We have a significant architectural advantage. Third party integration? We use them on both revenue and cost side. 5g build specifically? We will get back to you since we did not answer your question right.
  6. Dish reported today that it gained about 1,000 wireless subscribers last quarter, ending at just above 8 million. Wireless churn rate was 4.28%. 126,000 lost to the T-Mobile CDMA shutdown, or about 1.5%. ARPU continues to slowly fall. https://ir.dish.com/news-releases/news-release-details/dish-network-reports-third-quarter-2022-financial-results
  7. 18 months after T-Mobile equipment was installed, my home site has gone live with all bands and good backhaul (1.1Gbps at 2500 feet), thus I can easily do testing of 5g. Moto G Stylus 5g (2021) Only 5g NR is displayed as section header, yet the neighbors show n41. Using latest beta. diags sent. T-Mobile Revvl V+ 5g SCP works fine with latest beta. One Plus Nord N200 5g Only 5g NR is displayed as section header, no 5g neighbors. LTE bandwidth display. No CA displayed. LTE neighbors work fine. Speedtests at about 500/20. Cellmapper also reports unknown - NR NSA. Latest firmware. On Boost Mobile using T-Mobile. No difference with different APNs. Popped in a US Mobile on Verizon sim. Only showing LTE with 3xCA 10+20+10 and primary carrier bandwidth. ( have gotten n77 at home, but must have been mimo overshoot.)
  8. Esims definitely have more capabilities. Updates make sense from the carrier perspective. On their esims, T-Mobile reportly is looking at the market you are in to determine if they turn on n25. I am concerned how this will affect factory unlocked devices. Typically a factory unlocked phone has far more band options for roaming and to see when a new band is first being added to an area. Unless Dish rises up, the big three may now start to tighten the noose. $35 fee is just one example.
  9. Factory unlocked users take note: https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/comments/yi5klm/removed_band_confusion/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button I wonder how this affects roaming. Normally factory unlocked phones should have more band choices, especially overseas.
  10. Unless others answer first, this something I will check in the coming days. Many possible variables. #1 is different phones. I have two Samsung A32 5Gs (T-Mobile firmware and unlocked firmware so I can basically control for that. #2 is priority of plans. I have Magenta Max on T-Mobile for high priority, although that normally only matters at a very few sites, large festivals, and disasters. My low prirority MVNO (Tello) typically work the same. Verizon is a much different matter - my low priority MVNO barely functions at many locations around town, thus I primarily rely on a high priority pooled plan. AT&T fall in between the two. My low priority AT&T is often slower than my mid priority plan (that is as close as I am willing to get). #3 Technologies can also differ, especially for low band. AT&T uses DSS on band 5 versus NSA or SA on band 71 for T-Mobile. Mid band story is quite close: n77 c-band for AT&T versus n41 for T-Mobile.. T-Mobile wins on bandwidth in both cases. In some markets now T-Mobile has two Channels of n41 measuring up to 100Mhz and 90Mhz. In one market that I know of, they also have n77 on macro sites. Ideally you can lock bands, which I can. #4 is your location. Ideally both are from the same site in the middle of the sector, about 1000 feet away. on the same elevation. best at the same spot. This is harder to do than it sounds. #5 Is the technology at the site. Different vendors and equipment have different characteristics. Same with backhaul related to use. To minimize backhaul and demand, you would want to test at dawn. #6 is how you would measure any difference. Multiple tries would be needed. drop the best and worst. In my case this would be subjective. others may know of tools to use. There may be other items which I did not think of. How do your tests compare with this list?
  11. It will be stronger at the edge due to increased bandwidth. At some sites T-Mobile may then decide to increase the range. They will need to ensure high quality signal else calls will drop on VoNR.
  12. It means customers with old phones are not factored into churn this year. These folks could also be counted as new customers if they come back. Some of the lost Sprint customers could be in areas that not longer have Sprint service nor T-Mobile service. It narrows the definition of churn, thus more favorable to T-Mobile. It is possible other carriers are doing the same. If so, the entire industry looks more robust when these old phone customers sign up with any carrier.
  13. Other quirky items: Higher realized Merger synergies Gains from the sale of IP addresses In changes in operating assets and liabilities: Equipment installment plan receivables have declined from (530) to (77) for this quarter last year to current quarter, thus more stable Change in inventories: 41 to (7) (1) Customers impacted by the decommissioning of the legacy Sprint CDMA and LTE and T-Mobile UMTS networks have been excluded from our postpaid account base resulting in the removal of 57,000 postpaid accounts in the first quarter of 2022 and 69,000 postpaid accounts in the second quarter of 2022. The elephant in the room is DT taking a much more active role. The FCC license structure is being realigned to recognize this.
  14. Any discussion of churn should include this footnote: "Customers impacted by the decommissioning of the legacy Sprint CDMA and LTE and T-Mobile UMTS networks have been excluded from our customer base resulting in the removal of 212,000 postpaid phone customers and 349,000 postpaid other customers in the first quarter of 2022 and 284,000 postpaid phone customers, 946,000 postpaid other customers and 28,000 prepaid customers in the second quarter of 2022. In connection with our acquisition of companies, we included a base adjustment in the first quarter of 2022 to increase postpaid phone customers by 17,000 and reduce postpaid other customers by 14,000. Certain customers now serviced through reseller contracts were removed from our reported postpaid customer base resulting in the removal of 42,000 postpaid phone customers and 20,000 postpaid other customers in the second quarter of 2022.", page 2, https://s29.q4cdn.com/310188824/files/doc_financials/2022/q3/TMUS-09_30_2022-EX-99.1-vFinal.pdf
  15. Perhaps this is because Verizon has behaved the same way with c-band. Initially it was great coverage in cornfields. Reminded me of Sprint. Of course many rural sites don't need permits or have minimal requirements. The one theme that seamed to permeate the conference call was competition with Verizon. My home site, which was converted to T-Mobile 18 months ago but never turned on (Sprint cabinet was placed on a pallet has run b25 since then) is now being converted. Might even have the antennas replaced. Meanwhile the site has gone from first in the area at 100Mbps under Sprint to mostly about 60Mbps. Now up to 90mbps as an near by Sprint site that was off was converted. AT&T surpassed it thus summer. Verizon easily surpassed it this month with c-band.
  16. I missed the site count. Did not expect it until the end of the year. Some of my calculations based only on public sources should almost match that number, but choose to add 10k in rural sites for 88k estimate for the end of the year. On 12/31 last year they had 102k macro sites, so 23k sites were dropped since then.
  17. IMO they held their network cards close and did not share many details in their conference call. Sprint core is gone, vast majority of Sprint keep sites now converted. Push on VoNR issues and will add markets. B41 whitespace will be a "flip of the switch" at 14,000 sites.
  18. Thanks for your continued efforts. I have been checking other 5g phones I have as well. (Some just temporary). The Moto G Stylus 5g (2021) prefers to hang on to band 41 LTE although n41 is in its specs and speed indicates it may be using n41. The One Plus n200 5g behaves like the s21 Ultra in that both just show 5g in general with no hint of band but speed dictates n41. I will also test the T-Mobile Revvl V+ 5g. On the Wi-Fi 4 and 5, two recommendations to document away: 1)Minimum Android level to show Wi-Fi level. My guess is the lookup is being done through an Android api which has a minimum Android release level of 11. My Moto g7 power unlocked (factory) is Android 10 which just shows Wi-Fi despite being n (Wi-Fi 4), whereas my Samsung a10e shows 5 with AC. My LG V20(Android 8, data only), G4 (Android 6, AT&T only, data only) and G2 (Android 5, now Wi-Fi only) are all AC but just show Wi-Fi. My T-Mobile Revvl is 2.4 limited but is n (Wi-Fi 4) but is Android 7, VoLTE, unlocked). All loaded current beta scp through play store. 2) Document that Wi-Fi levels often don't match between 2.4GHz and 5GHz. 2.4GHz is typically Wi-Fi 4 while 5GHz is often Wi-Fi 5. Some APs allow you to downgrade Wi-Fi 6 2.4GHz or set a minimum even for all (n for example).
  19. Deliberately switched to the Sprint Max hoping to get moved quicker - no such luck. I have found I can pay off phones to get them unlocked and then the monthly amount is converted to a credit. Been told if I buy a replacement phone from T-Mobile I will lose that credit, so bought my last phone from Best Buy (factory unlocked).
  20. SCP is your app mikejeep, so you can approach this as you wish. I do get the impression you may be banging your head against the wall. We all hope the SA will soon take over from NSA, thus these type of issues would be solved. However, can all 5G phones actually support SA in its current implementation? What about all current NSA site equipment? How many regional carriers will just wait for SA to become more standardized and affordable to implement? Basically how soon will NSA go away? (Likely will be with us for a while IMO) Besides waiting for Android/phone manufacturer/chip designer to fix these issues, there is another possible way: We know the bands the major US carriers operate on. SCP could always start there. Band identification is most important for SCP users followed by the ability to identify the site (GCI/NCI, PCI then followed by bandwidth/frequency, then CA details. TAC is further down the list. Thus start with n7 for T-Mobile plmns is always n41. T-Mobile has no n2 but rather is using n25. Then work through the other items in order where possible. Asterisk what is uncertain.
  21. Updated. Sent diagnostics for n7 from a32 5g T-Mobile.
  22. Wi-Fi 6e works. Want to double check 4 and 6.
  23. 1) Does s22 have SCP n7 problem instead of n41? Curious if so, does android 13 fix it? 2) Curious if band selector app or other method allows band selection. Does latest samfw method still work with 13?
  24. Wi-Fi 5 works. N7 nr2600 still exists. Sent diags. *#0011* shows n41. Will test other Wi-Fi later.
