  1. Well, the fact that it wipes your device can be a disadvantage
  2. Yes. The OTA includes the radio. Alternatively you can download the stock rooted KOT49E ROM and not deal with the radio at all, I'm not sure if you can dirty flash it or not though.
  3. They are increasing capacity because 4G has slowed to a crawl in many places, even if you have a cap what is the point of 4G if you are limited to 3G speeds. Also remember there are people that still have unlimited on both AT&T & VZW. All of our business devices even new activation's are unlimited data on VZW.
  4. The issue here is the exact opposite, I actually hope they only activate 4G (in my area) until they sort CSFB issues. Can connect to LTE on 4G only upgraded but not on 3G/4G upgraded towers.
  5. I would recommend just disabling LTE until you get more towers online then. What's interesting to me is LTE at -116 is very usable for me, at least double the speed of 3G.
  6. I'm guessing it is more likely to combat battery drain, even fringe LTE net's me much higher speeds than 3G.
  7. A long while. Doesn't seem to happen if I only connect to a VZW tower for a short amount of time but if I am roaming for awhile which happens every weekday, 1900 has no chance of penetrating the walls of my office at work, I can drive about halfway home (7 miles) before the phone will automatically connect to a Sprint tower. I find myself cycling airplane mode which is a pain in the ass.
  8. Interesting. I can confirm it works without the app though. No app on the Nexus 5 and it works for me.
  9. I do not think SouthernLinc will sell. Unfortunate for those of us in the area. My employer used to issue SouthernLinc PTT devices but has been on VZW for some time. I actually do not know of anyone who uses SoutherLinc. I'm sure Southern Company relies on them pretty heavily for their operations though.
  10. Ahhh but he won't, the article will be twisted and barely mention Sprint even if Sprint's network becomes king. Edit: Oh, I don't even know who Brian is! I thought that was the guy who wrote the article.
  11. Haha I'll buy that, sometimes there is really just no telling with Sprint.
  12. If it is indeed just a software update at the MSC why not just push it out? I understand there may be some hurdles but do we know of any?
  13. She is claiming that this issue only affects 3% of launched market coverage, that seems pretty low.
  14. Speaking of the spreadsheet... I have checked 5 towers shown as 3G and 4G accepted, I cannot connect to any without setting my Nexus 5 to LTE only, My HTC One connects to all of them just fine. My Nexus 5 connects to 4G only towers just fine. So maybe you want to put an exception in for Birmingham under the Alabama market.
  15. I think I saw somebody else experiencing the same thing. The tower nearest my home that has 4G is both 3G and 4G NV accepted, the tower nearest my work is only 4G accepted. I cannot connect to 4G at the tower nearest my home without switching to LTE only. I am connecting to 4G at work in CDMA/LTE. This is in an Ericcson market. Weird stuff, I will check out some other towers today if I get a chance.
  16. I haven't tried it on the Nexus 5, was just a guess since it has worked on my past few Sprint phones. When I start playing around with the Nexus I will poke around for it, if it is 10 minutes that is a bit long for my liking.
  17. I think we are all getting updates from Google so hopefully none of us will see that annoying crap. Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk
  18. Try ##data# and LTE record then LTE scan frequency. Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk
  19. Damn it! I think because it says unlocked there too that they won't go for it but I'm going to try. They insist the version they sell is locked to Sprint. Clowns.... Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk
  20. Not sure if it works on the Nexus 5 but Sprint usually allows changing the scan rate with one of the dialer code menus. I changed mine on my One from 300 to 180 seconds, didn't notice much of a battery hit but YMMV.
  21. Better than the Sprint screen protector that is full of text. I ordered a case and screen protector from Amazon yesterday and paid for 2 day shipping so it should be here tomorrow but it has yet to ship.
