  1. I think Sprint needs to be proactive/aggressive in rolling out 2500 to compete with the other carriers. Hopefully, it'll increase the overall speeds being dragged down by heavy usage customers and cities with high population densities. I want FASTER SPEEDS NOW damnit!!

I translated this post to the following.

Baby crying, "mom The jones' speed is faster than mine. I want faster speed so I can have faster speed. Give it to me. My current LTE is working just fine but his is faster!"

    Hahaha

  2. the 2.5 will soon the the additional band that Softbank will have. Not currently.

No, they also have Band 1 (2100 Mhz) for LTE.

I would bet on the next iPhone being triband. SoftBank (now apple's second largestis a bigest customer) purchaser of iPhones and I think their lte network is exculsively 2.5 (not 100 percent on this, would love a correction if not accurate). This I think garentees 2.5 at the least and I have no idea why they would omit 800 lte. So my money is on yes, but as an iPhone user that could be a product of wishful thinking.

  3. Can some of or all or the existing LTE capable Sprint phones use LTE-A or does this also require hardware change? If this does require new hardware, do you guys think the new Tri-band LTE phones will be LTE-A capable? I know a lot of this is total speculation, but hopefully maybe somebody has some inside info on the matter. Sent from my Sprint iPhone 5, not the old one (using Tapatalk 2).

This is a yea and no answer. It all depends how the lte-a is set up and use.

If faster speeds to phone, then yes you will need a different phone.

However lte-a will bring along carrier aggregation. This will be a benefit to all phones.

  4. What I am really wondering and hoping is Son will fund or find a way to use the NV ground mount gear and add something to it to do LTE on 2.5G. I hear mixing FDD and TDD is a pain but finding a solution would save money in the long run I think.

I believe AJ already debunked this.  Combining FDD and TDD is not possible.  Each tower that is going to get 2.5 will require a new antenna per sector as well as equipment and cards in the new NV racks.

  5. Specialists: All Customers: All Effective Date: 7/19/13 What you need to know: 7/19 is a big day for Sprint‘s Network Vision with new spectrum and new devices launching. 2.5GHz LTE data traffic will overflow to the Clearwire network in: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Seattle, Miami, New York City, Tampa and Chicago. 3 new data connection devices launch supporting 2.5GHz LTE frequency: MiFi 500 LTE by NOVATEL, NETGEAR Zing Mobile Hotspot and NETGEAR 341U USB Modem. Why you need to know it: As Sprint completes the merger with Clearwire, we are gaining access to 2 new spectrums to use on the CDMA LTE network. 800MHz frequency provides better inbuilding penetration and larger coverage footprint, but reduced capacity. 2.5GHz frequency provides smaller coverage footprint, but greater capacity and speeds. This additional spectrum allows LTE devices to intelligently and dynamically select the appropriate frequency between 1900MHz, 800MHz and 2.5GHz to nail down a call.  What you can expect next: New smartphones supporting 2.5GHz LTE will launch in the fall of 2013. LTE 800MHz network upgrades are scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. Robert from Note 2 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Very exciting. I knew it couldn't be long. Notifying several people in Denver that want to order the triband devices.

  6. Forgive me as I don't have a iPhone, but are you sure you had LTE enabled in your settings and not just 1xRTT/EVDO? The next thing I would try is restarting your phone.

Good luck and enjoy your ForGees!

I had the same problem this past week in Tampa.  I went into General Settings and reset all network settings and rebooted.  This worked.

  7. I won't use iOS 7 until it's final as I use my iPad and iPhone too much for work and can't afford for them to be flakey.

And don't say the A word or they come running.

I am on 7.  so far beta 2 is pretty good. beta 1 complaint was battery life. it was a killer.  Couldn't make it to lunch without a charge.

  8. Azzi said Sprint has been seeding devices into the market that can take advantage of CDMA 1X Advanced and LTE in 800 MHz, so customers won't have to do anything to use the new services when they are fully deployed.

Interesting. Does this mean that some devices have the capability for LTE over 800 and we don't even know about it? I love that he used the word seeding.  I imagine a guy up in a plane dropping phones over the cities. ha
