  1. Over the past month or so there has been hacked/tweaked carrier updates released for all the major carriers in the US. iTweakiOS just released the latest one for Sprint. It supposedly increases 3G (not LTE) speeds. I'll be trying it out when I get home tonight and will report back my results.

Note: This will work on iPhone 5's that are not jailbroken!

i don't understand how it works but i will try it.

Also i will do speed tests pre and post (i will make it a sample).  I will average the speed tests and see if hack worked.

  2. That road goes up a steep grade.  Probably had line of sight to the site on the south side of the airport from there.  Doesn't surprise me at all.  I would get the Santa Fe WiMax Protection Site in places along Hyde Park Road as you gain elevation.  A full 4-5 miles away.  Even though you could not get that Protection Site a mile away on the ground.

Thats crazy.  Well heres to ABQ getting an LTE acceptance this week.

  3. Do people read entire posts or just assume a negative connotation about apple means they must hate apple? I mean come on. I own an ipad for Petes sakes, i dont hate apple, i even said they are a great company.

Anyway, the coverage will get better without a doubt. I hope the new iPhone prefers 800 over 1900 so the apple peeps can enjoy it as much as the androiders around here.

And no, I am not on staff here, so don't try to bash the site staff because I denounced your precious iPhone.

Is there a way to update the I5 PRL to search for 800 over 1900? I understand it is set up right now to prefer 1900. Just wondering.

  4. Negative. These are legacy cabinets. I did go over and look at the Indian School/Tramway site when I left Hinkle. It turned out from a distance what I thought was Sprint was actually AT&T Ericsson RRU's. No NV work at either of these two sites you've listed, I'm afraid.

Thanks for taking a peek at them. I will keep hunting on the way home from church today.

  5. As a good friend of mine puts it...  "I'm dumb as box of rocks when it comes to anything technical.   The Iphone is a phone for idiots like myself."  Now give the guy a four wheeler that's been sunk in the river and he'll have it running better than when it was rolling off the showroom floor.

There's a place for the Iphone of course but with many people realizing that are paying to be locked down they are quickly dropping the phone in place for something else.  Then combine that with the hardware always being 1-2 years behind the curve, it's no wonder I never see any new requests for setting up corporate things for Iphones at work anymore.

I went with the Iphone 5 in December. I regret it so much. It is a great phone; however, it does not do all the things I want to do. I don't want to jailbreak it. I can upgrade again in December and I will get a triband phone. whatever it is.  I plan on handing this down to my wife.

  6. Hit up some more sites yesterday on the way home.

Indian school and Tramway - This is a monopole site. Couldn't see the panels; however, I believe the following is new cabinets.

Menaul and Morris - This is a monopole site as well. I believe these are new cabinets as well.

  7. I know you probably aren't going to like this answer but most of the time when I find the sites in test mode as they do not allow customers to use them is when you get handed off from one non-test mode site into the test mode site.  You get handed into the test mode serving cell for 5-10 seconds and the site then kicks you off.  Sometimes it kicks you off quicker if a data transfer is attempted.  Since there are no other sites to get handed off from it makes it difficult in areas to find these test mode sites.

Interesting.  I haven't been able to connect to either of the upgraded towers. My patience is leaving me; however, it is awesome to see them up there.

  8. Look at central and Elizabeth. In between Eubanks and Juan tabo. Post pics in a sec.

    Edit: Pics are in

Tower. Can clearly see the RRUs.

Also in the cabinet shot, you get a great view of the Sandias today.

  9. Don't know.  My wife won't let me go, it's not on Sensorly yet and no one has shown up from El Paso saying they will go check it out since we posted it.  We have a few El Paso/Cruces members, but none are very active.

I'm headed to ABQ this afternoon.  I'm going to be tower hunting while I'm there.  Check out the Menual/2nd site.  I think it's time to run the LTE Discovery App in full force around ABQ.  It could be any day now for the first site.  And we may be able to discover one in testing.  :fingers:

    Robert

I will make my way by the 2nd street as well. I am heading to church soon.

  10. 1. Can't remember what the name of my first one. Screen wasn't even color.

    2. Sanyo SCP-5300 (the worst phone ever)

    3. LG PM-325 (had to do slider)

    4. Samsung MMA-900, The BLADE.  Couldn't compete with the Razr. This by far has been my favorite phone.

    5. Blackberry curve 8330

    6. Samsung Instinct s30 grey

    7. HTC Evo 4g

    8. Iphone 5

  11. If 2.5/6 ghz is only deployed by clearwire on sites from the protection network 2.5 will not be dense in most markets.

From my understanding, I believe that Sprint plans on putting the BRS/EBS on most towers in a metro/suburban area.  This comes back to Robert's point above that Sprint has closer/tighter spacing in urban/surburban areas for capacity reasons previously.  With EBS/BRS blasting, Sprint will be a leg up ahead of the competition.

Side note, I didn't think there were any Verizon LTE devices capable of the AWS as of yet.

Edit: I see that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is capable.

  12.   Made it to the site.  This tower has many different carriers on it.  I took pictures but I can't figure out for the life of me how to upload.  Anyways, there was one panel/antennas per sector.  For each of the three panels, there were 3 RRU's.  It appeared to be fresh dirt dug for a trench.  I cannot confirm what it was for as I did not see a Centurylink box anywhere (assuming CL is the provider for this tower).  I toggled airplane mode several times hoping for a "LTE" sign but no dice (also restarted once).  I ran two speed tests. Each came out to 0.94 and 0.98 DL and 0.50 and 0.54 UL respectively (each ping time was 142 and 138).  Overall, it was really awesome to look up and see the RRU's.  Can't wait to see more of these around town.

As always, thanks Robert for the head' up on ABQ market. I know you are just as ancy as we are here.

    Edit: I am a retard.
