  1. As I understand it high capacity sites get 4 RRUs per panel and the other sites get 3. Does this mean those with 4 use another 5 mhz  carrier and is that outside of the G block?

There will be an additional carrier outside of the G block. It will be extra carriers for 1900 voice and 3G. Only one carrier for LTE currently. ABQ market has several of these sites. Robert explained it to me during the summer when I noticed three or four.

  2. That's good. I was just at Sprint today and they were saying that Albuquerque is almost there. But I've searched all over this forum, sensonrly, and Sprint's website. And just haven't seen much going for it. Just a bummer is all. Because I love my phone and the plan. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying the coverage just isn't there.

I agree that it is a bummer.  Almost all of the towers I have seen in town (excl flagpoles) are done (i.e., have the NV equipment).  I can't tell on some of the flagpoles.  I can't see the cabinets which makes it difficult.  The thing to keep your eyes open for is Centurylink. Centurylink is the backhaul provider for most of the market and they are slow as can be. I would suggest becoming a sponsor so you know exactly all of the Sprint towers. Therefore, when you see a truck next to it, post it here to let everyone know.

  3. Att started on a full tower build down the street from my house about 2 weeks or less ago. And they are almost completely finished. So I domt understand what the hold up is if the other carriers can complete full builds in less than 3 weeks .

for the towers around ABQ, many are already upgraded and waiting on backhaul. If they turned on LTE now, Downtown, Uptown, Nob Hill and most of the Heights would have a pretty decent blanket of LTE.  That being said, it is NOT sprint or contractors. It is all Centurylink.  They have not provided the backhaul Sprint needs for the LTE.

Go look at most of the Verizon LTE towers and most have microwave backhaul.  I think they ran into the same thing and said F it and started putting up microwave.  Also, ATT has a very limited LTE coverage in ABQ. I assume it is due to the same issues.

  4. Yes the G2 is already selling for $99 but that is only for new customers. Last years BF deals were open to new+existing Sprint customers who were up for renewal. I really irks me that Sprint alienates its existing subscribers when it comes to offering those types of promotions.

Bestbuy will let you upgrade to the G2 for $99.

  5. I'm starting to think that inspectors who accept sites have left our state and are not returning until ABQ proper catches up with backhaul so they can justify their presence beyond a few sites.

I seem to want to agree with you. However, most of the sites i have been too in abq have no sign of backhaul at all.  This was all within the last three or four weeks that I have been visiting. I do hope this changes.

  6. Speaking of which... I was driving by Jefferson/Paseo today after lunch and once again must have been on that updated GMO 3G tower by balloon fiesta and got speeds of about 1.5 Mbps... can't wait to see that at least those speeds citywide!

Welcome to being a Premier Sponsor. I suggest you spend a bunch of time in the Sponsor and Premier section. So much information to get caught up on.

  7. Bear with me a few seconds, because of course I know triband LTE matters, but I wonder how much it matters for me here and now.

Generally, in the rurals right now. Specifically, "here" being in SW Missouri, in the Neosho/Joplin area out in the rurals.

Is all of the LTE deployed and working here right now 1900? Are we likely to have any of the other bands here in the next year or two? Are they lighting all 3 bands on all towers eventually, or is 800 and/or 2500 being reserved for metro deployments?

    Thoughts?

I used to live in Springfield and had the worst reception.  That was like 6 years ago when I left.

However, I think SW Missouri will benefit the most from 800LTE.  I have a feeling that Ericsson will turn that on very quickly into 2014.  I assume speeds are still pretty good since LTE was turned on in Joplin. Coverage will be the biggest boost.
