  1. It kinda did. Thanks for clarifying. I, however, still think Sprint needed to cash in the chips. They have never been able to fully utilize the spectrum they had since the Nextel days and would probably ended up selling some of band 41 off as Masa Son wanted to do. They have been financially constrained big time for the last 8-12 years or more. They have been a constant 3rd place or 4th since they began offering full scale cellular service in 1998 or so. Growth and possible improvement all seem to point to having to merge to improve. They did. Perhaps,.... maybe now, the 2.5 G will get fully implemented to our delight and we'll all enjoy a much better network. I don't even like to discuss this "should of been", "could of been" or "what if's" ...I'm guilty of it myself! It's just such a waste of time. Lets move on and hope for better things to come.
  2. 😝 I cannot feel sorry for a multi-billionaire and a company that has made so many blunders. Closing cannot happen fast enough.
  3. Merger closing is scheduled "for on or before April 1, 2020" according to the press release. I'm assuming they are going to work hard to finish up the CPUC approval by then.
  4. I don't believe VoLTE was available everywhere. Are you in Virginia? Is it worth using VoLTE? What is the benefit?
  5. Looks like VoLTE comes to Detroit 2/24. Just received a Sprint Text Message saying your device will receive a software update to enable VoLTE and disable Calling Plus permanently. T Mobile related or Sprint actually getting network ready for transition? Seems VoLTE around here is about 1-2 years late. Thoughts?
  6. When you've been "King" for a long time without any competition, it's not surprising that he's a little "shocked"... LOL... I'm like a kid a few days before Christmas anticipating my presents.... I'll be interested in seeing some of the upcoming T-Mobile advertising addressing exactly this...(John Legere's words): New T Mobile vs Dumb and Dumber"... I'm also anxiously awaiting T-Mo to put some sort of press event together soon. I'm sure it won't be for a little while until all the dust settles.... but I can't wait! 😎
  7. AT&T President and COO John Stankey is "surprised" by the judges decision on Sprint and T-Mobile tie up? Really? Hummm... didnt' they just have a couple of huge mergers under their belt too? Of course he's "surprised"! When you listen to this, he's kinda of disappointed. His Duopoly with Verizon is over... Now Dumb and Dumber are nervous! AT&T (T) President and COO John Stankey Surprised over judge's decision on T Mobile and Sprint Merger
  8. It's all interesting spetrum-wise.... Hopefully we get to use some of it now. I had PM'd you the other day... What's your prediction for California (Lawsuit Appeal wise and the Cali - Public Utilities Commisson)?
  9. Wow! Thanks!! Great News! I very well may upgrade. Would you guys go for a S20+ kind of phone for all the Network options? Thoughts? Is there a better phone ... 5G is NOT a must for me.... 4G is good for what I need. I just want a strong processor and all the available frequencies.
  10. Question... if T Mobile comes in and starts the network conversion... do you see CDMA completely going away? (I do). I know Verizon sundowned all their CDMA and it using LTE for most everything now I think they have minimal 1x for some voice but not much. Maybe Snake was right about T Mobile coming in and offering attractive phone "upgrades" quickly to help move that old equipment off network so they can streamline everything network related?
  11. Closing is currently scheduled for April 1st according to T Mobile. Until we hear different... April 1. ... Not the end of the year.
  12. LOL! Agreed! From all the news feeds I've been seeing in the last few hours... California is expected to also fold in the towel in the next few days. Once that happens, I'm hoping we start going into high gear, get some official info from T Mo and maybe even start seeing commercials on tv teasing "T Mobile and Sprint, coming together to form The New T Mobile"...
  13. Craig Moffett eats a little crow because he's surprised the Judge went with the merger. On his best day he never thought their chances were better than 50/50. After accepting the facts, this is a go now, he does have some positive incite on what the combined company The New T Mobile. Will the Sprint/T-Mobile Deal Ever Be Finished?
  14. Some more good news... New York AG says they will NOT appeal the judges decision on Sprint T Mobile merger.
  15. From a Network Engineer's perspective, and you have a sudden influx of 50,000 subs (Sprint)... well if it's Sprint it's probably more like 40,000 subs going on your network, I can understand. You can't dump that load on to your existing network all at once... you'd kill the network for everyone. They have to pick their areas carefully and build it up / add to it before pouring the customers on it. That would be a disastrous move that Sprint and their management would have done in the past. I have more faith in this team. I'm sure they have metropolitan areas figured out and those will be the first to get 2.5G and some of Sprint's 1900 mHz put up or moved over... what ever you want to call it. Once that's in place, you then have extra capacity. They literally broke records moving and revamping Metro PCS's network at a break-neck pace ... They know how to do it.
  16. Perfect example of cheaping out the network. Poor user experience...and they don't care . Magic box in this instance was rubbish! I had one and on one of the updates, it blocked all my incoming calls on my Samsung phone. Days spent with Sprint Tech and nothing fixed it. So much time wasted. "Plug it in, power it off..." read off a script. Packed that baby back in it's box and back to Sprint it went! I'm sure they may be a use for such "micro cells", but I'm not a fan. I call these band-aids, "Son-style". This is an example of there is not good replacement for a good Macro Cell network. This was a huge reason why I was a merger supporter. You just can't do all the cost cutting and band-aiding and have a great network.
  17. What Sprint did doesn't sound good. How was the user experience when that happened? I think T Mobile from what I see and hear has their Network team pretty together. They really move on getting 600 up and increasing 700 around here.
  18. All he cared about was his ego and making $$ ... a lot of $$. Didn't care about the company and didn't care much about the customer.
  19. Maybe the "Sprint" name does need to go away... It's been since the middle 2000's, one mistake after another. Up until then it meant innovation and good rate plans. Masa and his huge ego and lack of listening skills were just another one on the chart.#1. Small cells, #2... Magic box idea was ok for what it was, but his plan was to create a virtual network off these and small cells... #3. Backfire... all of them. I thought it was bad news even with my lack of expertise. Going back a little further... Nextel was handled very badly. Very slow to even have a network plan on that one! (years) until they lost all the premium subs and basically were left with the Boost Mobil subs ( Prepaying / no contract)...and a broken and weak network that they ended up having to write off the books. WiMax #4!. - Nothing ever really became. Bad choice when everyone was choosing LTE. Some on here will argue that it was available before LTE. (not really in real terms) I say bull. While all the talk was WiMax, there was equal talk of LTE. (within a month or two)... I clearly remember lamenting about Sprint choosing it when everyone was going to LTE. I kept saying, why can't Sprint do an about face and change the build out plan to LTE?? No more roaming ability I said. as it turned out... major fumble! Network was very tiny only in a couple of areas, never amounted to anything other than Protection sites, (around me, there was nothing) even though I bought a WiMax phone. All done in order to not loose the licenses to the FCC. Broke and out of money from Nextel purchase and a lousy network. ...and lastly... the most famous one that actually was painful for many of us... Network Vision "The Power Network!" LOL... "Rip and Replace all the tower tech"... OUCH! #5! at the time, famous bylines: "Can you hear me now?" = Verizon. Sprint: "Hello"? .... "hello, I can't hear you very well with all that buzzing... but you can't hear me?".... "Hello?"...opps, dropped the call!" I can't wait to be on a better, at least more positively positioned network.
  20. I agree. As we get better phones that do more, faster, they also get more expensive each time. We broached the $1000 (US Dollar) a couple of years ago for a top line device. Now it's becoming $1300-$1400 a pop. That's a lot of money for me, on a device that I might accidently "flush". ... unless you were born with a trust fund. I too have great confidence in T-Mobile's network team. Look at what they did with Metro. It is real how well they handled that. They proposed a 3-4 year integration and I believe they completed in about 1.5 years if not, quicker! I'm sure they have had 2 years to figure this one out... I'm sure they have a great plan... I'm dying with excitement to hear it. I'm sure it's been modified from the one proposed 2 years ago. They've had some prep time to map and plan! Waiting to hear the news. Like I said earlier... I hope we don't have to wait until April 1st for the plan. 🤞
  21. Ok... cool. Thanks. Let's hope the NewCo can obtain some more B41
  22. Wouldn't it be better to use B25 (1900 mHz) that Sprint and T-Mobile both have or AWS spectrum for the Dakota's due to the population and terrain?
  23. Why would they need to buy more B41 licences? B41 is not a "Rural frequency"...I thought Sprint pretty much had nation-wide licences for B41? Am I missing something here? I think you folks are stressing over details really. Only certain phones, probably a small percentage will require replacement, mostly older flip phones and such. Most tech-savvy people usually upgrade their equipment at least every 3-4 years... Mine is in that group and I get all the frequencies. Besides, with the sale of a newer fancier phone, comes the opportunity to up sell to a different plan. it will all work out. Just my thoughts. On the debt issue, the new company actually has the subs and income to pay debts unlike the old Sprint. Don't rain on the parade! This is a positive event. Did anyone catch the article that one of the agencies interview Masa... he was happy the judgement went his way because "he was afraid if it was rejected, he'd have to bail out Sprint"!! Where the H*LL was he for the past 6 years?! Good riddance! Snake: Why you buying those cheap Walmart phones for? LOL (Kidding)
  24. Does anyone think that T Mobile will hold a press briefing in the next couple of days or do you think they will make us wait until April 1st? Hopefully it won't have an "April-Fools" prank built in.
