  1. I agree. Even with all the advanced planning that went in while the merger was on stand-by going through regulatory approval... you can only build so fast. It's going to take time to get thousands and thousands of sites upgraded... the planning of crews, the permits with cities and townships... there are just so many crews and equipment to do it. Next year, I'm thinking we'll see some very large areas of the country done and running. Some of us endured this with Sprint's rip and replace but never did I ever have the hope of a hugely better network. This time is different. There is hope and there is additional sites to build as well. There is more spectrum being brought together. This time it's exciting. It's basically going to be a entirely new network.
  2. Wow! Way to be happy. That's awesome speed. T-Mobile doesn't have more than 60mHz deployed anywhere yet from what I heard on the calls last week. Their plan is to get to 120 in some markets but also use some for Relay. They have between 120 and 160 mHz of 2.5 spectrum nationwide.
  3. Thanks for the update. Painful to hear. Was hoping to hear progress has been made. Just have to give it time... Hope it gets better and better for you.
  4. Rather than all the "could have been.... should have been" talk ... guys... .... It's over. We can vent and take our frustrations out on Masa and his side kick Marcelo until the cows come home. It's a waste of energy. Welcome to the New T-Mobile! What I want to know if the S4GRU members in New York City and Philadelphia, are you guys seeing more sites come on line? The deployment was scattered, but are you seeing things fill in? Wonder when all the old Sprint cell sites will be relabeled "T-Mobile" on our phones?
  5. I wasn't reading clearly... I thought you folks said "Peepers" the robot. Yikes!
  6. I firmly believe no.... we are in 2020 and still sunsetting 2G etc... I think we will have some 3G and LTE (backwards compatible) for a while. Regardless, these dates tend to slide constantly. I think those with older phones will have plenty of time. Besides, if one of the carriers are going turn your phone into a brick, I'm sure they will offer you a replacement phone at very little and in many instances free if your account is in good standing.
  7. I agree with Bennyjet29. I think the "know-it-all" arm-chair would-be COO's on some of the forums and Youtubers need to quit lamenting over "only $60Billion on Capex." it's been 6 weeks and some are already predicting whether this was a good or bad network merger. I'm interested in seeing where the network stands come September or October. I really think we have good things coming for a change... It just needs a little time. I also heard on one of T-Mobile's calls this week with C Moffett, that T-Mobile admits they will definitely be competing in the upcoming spectrum auctions. This is way more than we came to expect from Sprint.
  8. Thought you-all would enjoy the new commercial coming soon: Sprint and T-Mobile are joining forces, more towers, more engineers...
  9. I got the email here north of Detroit, yesterday.... It's not just "Apple" devices ... i have an Android phone. City-by-city... network conversions continue. Has nothing to do with your phone. My device is still favoring and staying on Sprint's signals.. so I'm not even sure that email means anything.
  10. Drive around? Your signature says you are in NYC. Where are you ? Are your speeds bad where you are now? Not looking for a tower test or anything like that. Just a single S.T. ....
  11. Where's all our NYC peeps? Paynefan, NextgenCPU.... You'all live in NYC and have S20 Ultra's. Can you guys do a speed test and post?
  12. Started on Sprint in 2000. I had come from a "Bag phone" on Ameritec Wireless. (50 cents a minute) My first phone on Sprint in 2000, a Samsung Dual Band Flip. Loved it but was bulky. Had it 2 years and Sprint started given a newer thinner redesigned Samsung flip because the little wire in the earpiece would break from opening and closing the phone. This is when Sprint was different and was a true pioneer. Sch-3500, Replaced by the Samsung Sch-n400 (Below in blue) My favorite all time sprint phone: the Sanyo 8200 Vision phone (2004) Sanyo phones, at the time, were know to have the best antenna's for Sprint's network.
  13. I think they will get rid of Sprint's magic boxes. With better low band, the need for them just isn't there. They have band 71 and band 66. That was Sprint's answer for not having enough towers.
  14. I have to be honest.... other than this forum at the time, I don't remember Sprint saying a whole lot. I just remember one day my service went to nearly unusable for about 3 weeks to a month. It was painful. I don't remember Sprint publicizing any info though. Sometimes you'd get a small blurb on the bottom of your bill from Sprint. That was it. Next week's earnings report should shed a lot of light on network info. I know a lot of you are chomping at the bit,... but it's only been 3 weeks since the merger took place. T-Mo couldn't actually do any work with Sprint's spectrum until the ink dried. Again I reiterate, be patient. there are 50 states to work on. It won't be done in 2 months. If you are on Twitter, the T-Mobile execs issue lots of info there in Tweets. They did it for Philly and DC and even gave the heads up on 5G expansion in Detroit, St Louis, and Cleveland.
  15. Jonny... is the service better with T-Mobile or with Sprint for you?
  16. I think you'll see some big/better deals come June and July. T-Mobile is planning a huge marketing blitz in mid to late summer. So I'd say wait.
  17. Sprint's VoLTE here north of Detroit worked, (finally around Jan or Feb this year.) but was pretty bad. Similar experience as yours... so i opted to turn it off. Wasn't ready for prime time IMO. I still struggle to use it. I am anxious for T-Mobile to take over around here. T-Mobile has a tower with AWS on it about 1/2 mile from my house. Had tried T-Mo about 2 years ago with a pre-pay carrier. The AWS worked great at the house. Hoping to be able to tap into that again once things are integrated.
  18. Wow! Great news Terrell! Where did you find the photo? T-Mobile is wasting no time deploying network!!
  19. They named an Indian company to do the work. No wonder Charlie E was in India for weeks! Wouldn't Ericsson or a well known company be a better choice? Not thrilled personally with this news. Hopefully they hire US workers to do the work at competitive wages. (doughtful) Everyone in the media was wondering why he said he can build a 5G network for 10 billion. (See link below) Maybe this is how. Very shady. Ergen defends lower projected costs of Dish 5G network architecture
  20. WAY too early to judge. They have 1 market done and are working 2 others. They have already said they will help those persons affected. Let's give them a month or 2 to find out. The Earnings broadcast will be on May 6th. I'm sure they will have a ton of news available then.
  21. T-Mobile to offer deals to owners of older Sprint 5G phones as it merges networks The 5G phone situation T-Mobile made public from Sprint is correct. That is due to an internal modem that cannot be "flashed" over to work with T-Mobile's frequencies. Only those early 5G devices. Not all Sprint devices. Some of you are going to cause un-needed concern and frustration with current Sprint users who have LTE devices that WILL be migrated over without issue to T-Mobile and their full set of frequencies. On the phones that will have issue, T-Mobile is offering a new device with similar discounts that amount to a near "$0" difference in cost to the consumer.
  22. Are you people for real? Complaining that your service was "interrupted" for 30 mins? In the name of a better network!? LOL! Sorry. But I think I had to say this. They can bring my network down as much as they want if it's intended to improve. They have so few Sprint towers by me, it's terrible. It's all overloaded. Looking forward to the New T-Mobile.
  23. How long was it down for? All day? Sprint is weak in my area. Not enough towers. I certainly wouldn't mind the interruption if it meant better service for me. Sprint for years did very little in my area. T-mobile is making waves of improvements. Really great to hear and see. I'm one of those who will not miss Sprint. over 20 years of it. Welcome to T-Mobile.
  24. Ok...so for those of you that now have access to T-Mobile's network, did it start off kind of with issues for a short time? I'm connected to a Sprint tower, but I have no data... or very little. Up until now, I've had my normal Sprint service with it's weak data / slow data, but never had an issue... was/am not getting a T-Mo signal yet. I'm wondering if some conversion work is taking place in my area right now?
