  1. "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.. " I hate to break it to you and everyone else who seems to have the idea that the T-Mobile brand is going to remain. Once DT sells, it is gone. T-Mobile as a name belongs to DT. Sprint/Softbank have no say in using the T-Mobile name. That being said, I hope it remains Sprint. The Sprint brand has a lot of history and Sprint has played an important role in the telecommunications and networking industry. Just because a few trolls living at home who have nothing better to do than crap on everything from behind a screen like to bash Sprint doesn't mean that Sprint's name is tarnished or a liability. AT&T didn't have to ditch their name after the iPhone brought their network to its knees. Why should Sprint?
  2. I do love how the article points out that Sprint, Verizon and AT&T have all been testing and planning to move to VoLTE soon but T-Mobile has no plans at this time.
  3. I am an Internet addict and even I haven't had a moment where I thought to myself that the lack of simultaneous voice and data was a major issue. You can always use wifi if it's a big deal and I'd that doesn't work for you, there are a variety of free hot spot plans that can provide enough data to browse and check email while you are on a call and the only thing you need to do is purchase a hot spot device.
  4. When I had my first Sprint PCS Vision phone, it was the envy of everyone who saw it. Color screen, MMS, great call clarity and the ability to sign into AOL and use IM on the go was way ahead of most phones. Sprint was definitely ahead and their data speeds were better than anything Cingular/AT&T had.
  5. I remember reading about the Network Vision proposal back in 2011. It feels like ancient history now, but it's only been a couple of years. I have only gone through one contract renewal since the start of this. During the length of just one contract, Sprint upgraded about 32,000 towers and added LTE across about half the network. There were issues with both Light Squared and Clearwire, the decommissioning of iDen, the buyout from Softbank, the purchase of Clearwire and the possible merger with T-Mobile. That's a lot considering it has all happened within the scope of just a couple of years.
  6. So I've seen 4 Ericsson trucks in the past 2 days while on I95 here in St Augustine. Hmm.
  7. I would also try a factory reset and if that fails to fix the problem then I would take it to a Sprint repair store as suggested. It sounds like a funky software issue.
  8. Actually, I did have the Samsung A500. It was a decent phone until one summer afternoon I was talking to my dad on the phone and it was so hot that my sweat got inside the LCD screen. Sprint replaced it for me despite not having insurance and I got a fancy Sanyo that actually had a built in camera. I definitely thought I was big ballin' then.
  9. $5.00! I can almost get a gallon of gas and a cup of coffee with that!
  10. I remember the early 2000's...gas was $0.80/gallon, Pluto was still a planet and my first cellphone was on Sprint's brand new Vision network running the fancy new 1xRTT standard, had a color screen and a camera attachment was only $99.
  11. I got that text last night from Sprint. I am guessing they are trying to prevent people from jumping ship since the last earnings report showed a higher than expected number of customer losses.
  12. The Spark icon replaces the "4GLTE" icon and instead of arrows indicating data traffic, the icon spins.
  13. From a logical point of view, if you don't see a single T-Mobile store or only 1 Sprint store, it is a good chance that they don't have a large coverage area where you are at. There isn't much point in building 3 stores in the area if all you will see for service is some fringe signal off of a highway tower 6 miles down the road.
  14. There is a rumor that the M8 will have a secondary camera that will give it the ability to adjust focus and zoom in and out or change perspective similar to a Lytro lightfield camera.
  15. There are separate 3G and LTE Spark icons, that is all.
  16. I'm pretty sure that the update operates similar to an elevator. If you push the button enough times and in rapid succession it will let Google know that you really want the update and it will show up faster.
  17. I've tried a few times this morning since I saw it posted at 6 that the update is official. It still isn't available as of right now at 11:15 am est.
  18. The site that serves downtown St Augustine is the only 3G only site on St Augustine and also happens to be really poor with 3G despite being NV upgraded. I am not sure what is going on with the site, it is terrible no matter the time of day or how close you are to it.
  19. I wonder if rf issues have to do with market/vendor. Besides the CSFB issue I experienced the first 2 days, the rf on my G2 has been ridiculous. I get LTE in places that my Evo would roam and hold LTE inside concrete and metal buildings. As far as speed, check Sensorly speedtests in the St Augustine area. I have logged plenty of 20-35 mbps speed tests. I've had fringe signal speeds of 10 mbps at -118 dBm. I remember when the G2 first came out, lots of people here went on about how great the rf performance was. I am not sure what has changed to give so many the opposite results with the G2.
  20. I must have a different G2. I don't see any issues with holding LTE and have fantastic speeds.
  21. Just imagine if a combined Sprint/T-Mobile didn't have to divest any spectrum. Sprint could very well be unstoppable.
  22. There may not be much band 26 around, but there is plenty of band 41 and I would like to use the Triband capability that I bought this phone for. Hopefully this is just another case of SprintCare not really having real information available. The last official word I have read from Sprint said the end of this month.
  23. I hope to see band 26 soon in Jacksonville. I really only spend time on the Southside of Jacksonville, so overall I still have a spotty view of LTE in Jacksonville over St Augustine, Orlando, Daytona Beach and West Palm Beach. It will be nice to see a fuller coverage, especially on the highway. That is a weak point with Sprint from what I have seen. Sprint has great highway coverage, but the spacing makes for a constant low signal and spotty 4G for most of the time while traveling.
  24. I am touched that you are so progressive of the lifestyle choice of your tablet.
