  1. Oh ok, I left my last job 4 years ago and I never had any issues with multiple upgrades since and haven't lost my corporate discount. I have never even been asked about it, all my purchases have been through sprint.
  2. Does this only apply to upgrading through third party sellers?
  3. You mean 20% discount on your monthly service? If thats the case I don't think it will make a difference where you get the phone but I can't say for sure. I still get my 25% corporate discount from my old job as well but I don't remember buying another phone from any other retailer other than sprint in a while. Honestly though, I don't think it will matter since they are just renewing your contract and not actually making changes to it.
  4. What discount are you talking about? I am a little confused.
  5. This is pretty normal for 3rd party online resellers. Not only do they start out cheaper than the carriers themselves but their discounts are more aggressive as well.
  6. Oh my god!!!! No one is in denial of anything, we are not a bunch of clueless ass hats here. As far as overall AVERAGE speeds we know that sprint isn't the best, its simple math but whats important is how things will progress, what is important is looking forward and not living in the past and certainly not beating a dead horse. If you are going to continue posting nonsense, further derailing an other wise decent discussion, then I would advise that you save yourself some time and move on because s4gru is not the place for you.
  7. Apple has a closed eco system that they fully control, its the same reason why you don't see iphones with lots of additional bloatware like you see on your typical android device. Also, lets face it, Apple has more influence and carries more weight than any other single OEM and at the end of the day any specific carrier will do whatever they have to do to make sure they are able to sell iphones. With android there are so many different OEM's and so many variations of hardware specs that there is no way to get all these different devices updated on a timely manner(compared to apple) and thats what this whole fragmentation thing is about but thats the price you pay when you have an OS thats open source. The great thing about it though is that you really see some amazing innovations of the years. Android has really come along way(compared to apple) and with jellybean, I think the focus on timely updates should be less of an issue. Your typical high end android device right now running any version of JB is just as smooth and fluent as any iphone device so for me I could care less when I get key lime pie because the user experience right now is just about flawless. Obviously though, if there are bugs here or there that needs to get fixed then I would want those fixed as soon as feasibly possible.
  8. My god, what is with all the negative posts all of a sudden No one is denying hard facts here, no one here is in a state of denial. We all have/had sprint service and we all have been experiencing the same issues, we all know that service has tanked over the last few years. Personally at one point I had it with sprint and for the most part I was all but ready to switch to att but I found this site over a year ago and s4gru gave me the information I needed to make the choice I felt was best for me. Based on the information I got, it seemed that it would be worth it for me to stay with sprint a little bit longer and it turned out to be the right decision. If I had switched, I probably would be kicking myself in the ass right now. If you are in a market thats not going to get upgraded soon enough for you then simply leave. S4gru is a place where you can come to get information you really can't get anywhere else so you can make an informative decision. I made my decision, you can make yours but no sense in complaining about things we all already know.
  9. Engadget is reporting that the phone is also rumoured to have an sd card slot.
  10. No issues with gps but you will always find someone having some sort of issue with any device. As far as updates, htc has always been pretty good with updates, the main issue with timely updates though are the carriers. If your phone does not get updated in a reasonable amount of time, 99.9% of the time its the carriers fault. Hell, look at the gnex on verizon, they treated that phone like it was a red headed step child. Even the sprint version of the gnex got updated a hell of a lot faster than verizon's version.
  11. This is all a matter of opinion. Stock ics/jellybean are for those that consider themselves to be minimalists which is fine but to the mainstream consumer which is 99.9% of everyone, they are more attracted to "eye candy" and "cool" features that you can get out of the box. Take a gs4/one with touchwiz/sense and a gs4/one with stock jellybean and ask a thousand random strangers to pick one and could guarantee that every single person will pick the version with added UI. In this scenario if anyone picks stock android then its because thats what they specifically wanted. Also, I am not sure what gps issues you are having but all my htc devices even when stock, never had an issue with gps performance and if it did, it was because of something I did to the phone and not htc. Every manufacturer will have random issues with a certain percentage of devices.
  12. Yeah I am hoping that part is wrong but if it has an sd slot then I really don't care.
  13. http://www.phonedog.com/2013/05/30/htc-t6-rumored-to-feature-5-9-inch-1080p-display-quad-core-snapdragon-800-processor/ These rumoured specs are getting juicier and juicier, except for the 16gb part which had better not be true unless there is an sd card slot. Thoughts?
  14. There are several aosp/aokp roms available for the one already and they are all stable so wishing something like this would come to sprint is just ridiculous. I mean seriously, if you really wanted a One Nexus Edition then why pay $599 for it when you can get it from sprint already subsidized and you can simply just root it and flash a rom. Personally though, vanilla android simply isn't for me and other than gettng updates on time I really don't see any other advantages of going vanilla android.
  15. In my opinion I think it has the best overall camera at least compared to the gs4 13mp camera. Now the reality is the gs4 wins hands down in well lit areas but when it comes to medium to low light then its not even close. When it comes to taking videos, I think the One beats the gs4 in every scenario not to mention the One has OIS which works surprisingly well.
  16. Well at the time I was located around the Havensight area, the tower that basically services that area is located on a hill just west of high school.. Several of my friends where having the exact same issues as well as the two sprint phones I walk with. I did notice guys working on that tower after I left my office at 5pm today. The tower by the entrance of wynberg had guys on it as well so hopefully things will get rolling very shortly.
  17. For me personally I am enjoying the One quite a bit but I wish the screen was slightly larger. If this turns out to be true, I don't see how I won't buy it. Hopefully it has comparable note 2/3 features or HTC will be wasting their time.
  18. Well I haven't had any data, call quality has been poor and texts are not sending on either my One or my Evo for most of the day here in St.Thomas so maybe something is getting worked on as we speak. I got to stay positive.
  19. http://phandroid.com/2013/05/27/htc-t6-phablet-leak/ So it looks like HTC will be coming out with a note like device. So who will bite?
  20. Well I do have htc backup backing up everything to dropbox but I have never actually tried using it so not sure how it will work exactly. Since I am rooted I always use titanium backup pro, and as I flash a rom or hard reset I can then flash whatever I want to restore before having to even reboot the phone.
  21. Oh ok, I was having the same issues as you when I flashed a custom rom and had to flash a separate zip file to get it working again. Anyway, have you tried performing a hard reset?
  22. Are you running a custom rom or are you stock?
  23. As far as signal strength when on lte just go to settings, about, network. There you will see a dbm rating. In the past when connected to lte I have noticed my evo would drop the lte connection around -107 to -110(which no other phone on sprint does) just about every singe time. To further compound the issue even when signal strength would increase the evo would still stay on 3g and would take a while(if ever) for it to connect to lte on its own without toggling airplane mode or resetting. Since then there have been several firmware updates that addressed several issues including the lte connection issues. The update basically increased the frequency in which the phone would scan for lte so in the event that lte would drop it wouldn't take long for the phone to reconnect to lte again. There could have been some other software tweaks in other updates but from what I can tell it seemed like they just increased the scan time. At this point I do think it's a hardware issue, the gs3 has the same chipset and didn't experience anything like this.
  24. I think that's for domestic roaming.
  25. It has already been established that the evo does in fact have an lte connection issue and that issue mainly has to do with losing/reconnecting to lte at lower signal levels compared to other lte devices. At one point most of us thought it was a software issue but it looks like it may be some sort of hardware flaw but in either case lte performance has increased substantially after several updates. Now you made a comparison to your wife's One, keep in mind that the bars that show up only has to do with 1xrtt which is just your voice connectivity and has nothing to do with 3g evdo or 4g lte signal strength. I currently own a One and I also own an evo and yes, the One is light years ahead of the evo when it comes to everything including lte connectivity so in the case where the wife had lte and you didn't could easily be a case where the lte signal is already pretty low but the One picks it up and holds it where as the evo stays on 3g. The same could be said for your layover in DFW, the evo simply couldn't maintain that lower signal strenght being that the tower could have possibly been further away so it defaulted back to 3g. Now I am not defending the evo being that I have expressed my frustration(as well as many others) with this same issue since last summer but once my area got built out the issue has all but disappeared(for the most part). So yeah, if the tower across the street gets lte then you shouldn't have the same issues connecting. Now sprint isn't going to openly say there is an issue with the phone, they will more than likely say that the area isn't complete yet and things will slowly but surely improve over time, which technically is true but still somewhat misleading.
