  1. How would you say coverage is as a whole now? Where you live is it heavy 800 voice? How are Lte speeds? Dropped calls? I live in Ohio and I'm hanging on for a change for the better
  2. Iam NOT being negative here, but I dont see how Columbus will be complete by March 2014. I think coverage will be effective enough for most that it won't matter.. but even looking at many first round markets found here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/212-network-visionlte-deployment-running-list/ you'll see many of those 1st round markets are only now in the 90th percentile for complete ( overall ) while in those same 1st round marekts the LTE is only around 70 to 80% complete ! I've been keeping an eye on Orlando ( 2nd round ) because I go to that area and its status is about 50% NV and 41% LTE complete. While anything is possible we'll have to see what happens.
  3. Elfman said 800 LTE would begin deployment end of 2013.. What does Sprint need to do to deploy it ? Is it turning it on, a software update, or ? The LG phone supporting tri-band is on Sprints website as being released late 2013 which at least goes along with what Elfman is telling all of us.. Anyone ?
  4. Yesterday I noticed some guy at the site ( on the electrical tower ) at Lancaster Ave & Tomahawk Trail ( Slightly off East Broad ) ...so I drove by today and now there is a backhoe parked right next to the site. I couldn't drive too slow with cars behind me - but I really thought one of those cabinets on the ground looked like Sprint NV.

  6. Supposedly Sprint will be adding additional sites to the network to improve signal and performance in some areas. I've read hints of this mentality and recently found this article adding some credit to this although this article covers the 2.5Ghz spectrum - it doesn't rule out what would be on additional sites - I'd think 1x would be. "New Street Research analyst Jonathan Chaplin wrote in a research note that he expects Sprint's total cell site count to increase to somewhere between 50,000 and 60,000 sites, more than offsetting disconnects of old Clearwire sites. That increase could lead to incremental revenue growth for American Tower, Crown Castle and SBA Communications, the three major U.S. tower companies, he wrote. Sprint formally took control of partner Clearwire last month. Chaplain noted that the estimated new 12,000 to 17,000 Sprint macro sites will replace around 16,000 Clearwire sites that will be decommissioned. However, he wrote this is a positive for tower companies, since the risk of Clearwire site decommissioning has been clear for some time while Sprint's expansion of Clearwire's spectrum was not confirmed until this week. Chaplin also wrote that Clearwire has paid below market rent on most of its towers and that the revenue per site on the new Clearwire replacement sites should increase to market levels. (The expanded Clearwire deployment will require adding antennas to cell sites, Sprint CFO Euteneuer told FierceWireless, not just replacing line cards.)" 7. Looking at markets that are "launched" - many of them are adding 10 LTE sites avg per week. Seems slow now, but once things get rolling it should be pretty heavy
  8. ive not been following this thread 'closely' but have been somewhat. What is the Mhz ( how fat is the pipe ) of the 2600Mhz Sprint aquired from Clearwire.. Robert was getting pretty good speeds in Denver... no ?
  9. Yes they are upgrading 3g also.. "new" 3g speeds are typically 1.5 Mb/s down to sometimes even 2 Mb/s down.. which is much faster then old ( legacy ) 3g.. Sprint is upgrading 99% of sites.. They aren't just adding 4g LTE, they are actually changing evertything.. so 3g get better, 1x ( Voice ) gets upgraded because its going to be on 800 Mhz in most places, LTE will also be on 800 & 1900 Mhz , and 2500Mhz TD-LTE gets added to most of the 38k sites now according to the most recent Sprint earnings conference..
  10. Fifty-one sites with 1900 Mhz 3g sounds encouraging.. it'll make things a lot more useable
  11. I did do that, and yet both LTE sites functioning inside Columbus belt aren't marked as 3g accepted. The north side one ( on Morse ) has a '3g accepted' forecast of 2/2014 and the LTE on south ( near Grove City ) is forecasted for 3g acceptance around 11/2013. Neither is the one on Garber Road listed as 3g accepted. Couldn't other LTE sites conceivably come online unexpectedly that aren't 3g accepted as well or do these examples break the mold ? I know both these sites caught everyone off guard when they came online. Maybe now the information coming in for scheduled launches is more focused. And I also know you said backhaul was a big issue.. I guess I'm just looking at patterns and maybe I shouldn't be, but it would seem in some cases 3g acceptance isn't a prerequisite for LTE. Ok, i'm rambling...
  12. Can you elaborate on why if a site is not 3g accepted 'as of today' that it won't be LTE active by the end of the year? Or are you able to divulge that information? I'm guessing its a timeframe with backhaul availability..
  13. This only corrobarates the sentiment that alot of sites are near ready & awaiting the backhaul .. Can't go far without that.. Any info on how far along backhaul is in Columbus ? Remember this post?? : -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- thenight84, on 20 Jul 2013 - 11:34 PM, said: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1904-network-visionlte-columbus-market/page-62
  14. Does Shentel have a graphical LTE/800 coverage map? When I go to NY and Florida I drive through WV.. Was wondering how the coverage was in areas I may drive through which has been upgraded widely since this thread started... If anyone has any info I can't find much at all when I google for it.. Thx
  15. Thanks Robert, it'll be nice having a map showing Shentel coverage LTE and 800 voice
  16. What would I look for on a diagnostic screen that would tell me if I have NV on a site?
  17. Coz...The link took me to the wall ..
  18. GMO's are found in lower capacity areas ? Any areas inside the 270 belt ( or slightly out of ) qualify as low capacity ?
  19. Slightly west of pataskala... there are some areas on east broad not far from 270 that hopefully will get some Network Vision soon.. I work, live and eat out around there.. so really now I'm being justifiably selfish I suppose... I go up by easton sometimes and all around, but mostly where I live..
  20. Hey Coz Is Columbus getting Samsung equipment for sites?
  21. Yeah Im getting why yellow sites can't go green - they are GMO's.. .....aqua can though
