  1. rf40928 says: I've never gotten nearly 2 Mb/s down on 3g with Sprint, but for you it looks good.. I take it your area is pretty much ready for 4G awaiting backhaul ---------------------------------------
  2. Sweet, In my area ( east Columbus between Reynoldsburg and Blacklick ) I drop calls a lot in the last few months and data is usually pretty bad. haven't been following whats going on in your area.. What updates did they do ? Is the speedtest more consistent?
  3. In the last 2 days SIX LTE sites went live in Michigan ...I know it's gonna happen here eventually !
  4. Thank you for that information. 100 Mb on LTE sounds good..
  5. I crunched numbers and it's making alittle more sense. You gotta take into consideration when you stream on a big tv it's using much more bandwidth then watching Netflix on a small screen like a smartphone. For example: Data consumption on Netflix varies, because video quality adjusts constantly depending on your connection. In tests using LTE - 10 minutes of viewing used up between 100 and 200MB ( much lower then on your widescreen ). Streaming only 100 MB ( this is lower quality ) for 10 minutes ..In which 100 MB is equal to 800 Mb .. means that one person is using 1.3 Mb/ second. Since you're using sustained data ( but most people aren't ) it's easier to see how this spectrum is working.. because at first I was like NO WAY ! haha This actually makes sense because before NV rollouts began - My Sprint 3G service used to be able to stream perfect to Netlflix on my phone.
  6. What bandwidth will a NV LTE tower ( fiber obviously ) versus a Sprint 3G tower now ?
  7. This makes much more sense.. When you're doing even a speedtest and hitting 16 Mb/s.. I'd ALONE being using much of the bandwidth of a single site.. let alone the 300 people surfing, texting, steaming music, Netflix.. If they eventually got 250 Mb/s that give you about 31.25 MB/s .. much better
  8. Ok, Im confused. Are we talking 100 MEGABYTES ( MB ) or 100 Megabits ( Mb )... Cuz you're saying 100 Mb/s ( Megabits ) should cut it.. I'm thinking maybe 100 MB/s will cut it.. That's why I questioned the Original Poster.. I get 50 Mb's ( Megabits ) on my home internet download.. You're saying a 5x5 FD-LTE maxes out at -37 Mb/s ( Megabits?? ) or (MB ) Megabytes... ? Huge difference.. That would put your single 5x5 FD-LTE site (servicing a whole area) - using fiber - at less bandwidth - then what I have ( all by myself ) on my single home Road Runner connection ( also using fiber ) that gives me a 50 Mb/s down and 5 Mb/s up all by myself .. There are 8 Megabits ( Mb ) in 1 Megabyte ( MB )... My Road Runner 50 Mb/s download is equal to 6.25 MB/s ... Huge difference.. 1,000 MB = 1 GB ( the max? for backhaul )... 100 MB is only 1/10th of 1 GB... On the other hand 100 Mb/s is only about 12.5 MB !! And you're saying a 5x5 FD-LTE maxes out at 37 Mb?? No Way
  9. I don't see how.. Only 100 Mb/s ? If you're downloading at 7 Mb/s on a single phone ( which is typical for LTE ) you'd only have enough bandwidth for a dozen phones on that tower...
  10. I've been really excited about Sprint's NV rollout. From what I can see in other markets ( as well as what other's have said ).. It seems once sites start coming online - that they come online faster- as that market progresses. Chicago has been LTE and 800 for quite while, but in the NV reports you're still seeing LTE, 800, and 3G sites added even now to Chicago. Sprint seems to be launching markets when they're 'mostly' complete then continues filling in the weak spots even though that particular market was "officially luanched" long before.. If this analysis is close we can expect Columbus to launch but work will continue after. In fact NV (according to Sprint) will be done mid 2014.. but now that Softbank has bigger plans for Sprint ( and has commented most of the money Softbank gives ) will go to things like new base stations.. It seems Sprint will be doing alot more expansion/upgrades over the next two years ( long after NV is officially deployed )... Anyone want to add to that ??
  11. Business sense: What good would it do if they pissed off long time ( loyal ) Sprint customers and made those people leave to other carriers? The plan is to greatly increase subscriber base ( and therefore income ) and Sprint can't do that if long time customers are leaving while new ones join.. They know they must keep current customers and add new ones at the same time. I beleive what Coz says because they could say you can't add more lines in the future . Right now you still can - yes i just checked - but I won't need anymore lines then I (currently ) have so there's no reason for me to switch... Maybe there never will be..
  12. I don't think it's worth their time. AT&T still honors customers ( single accounts ) that had Unlimited Data Plans ( which haven't been in existence for maybe 3 years ).. I know someone personally who just got the iPhone 5 for free about a month ago ( with ATT ) and is still on the old Unlimited Data plan..
  13. I showed you the qoute from the Sprint CEO.. The Unlimited Guarante is to assure those leaving other carriers THAT SPRINT WON'T REMOVE UNLIMITED DATA in the future - perhaps the only reason those customers would think of leaving ATT, Verizon
  14. Yeah I commented on the same thing. ( Comment #1356 on Page 68 ).. i drove there and the range is awesome. Due to what Coz said and I also previously mentioned. The terrain is fairly flat. Cellular sites/ towers work best on the line of site principal.. in very flat terrain there is no obstructions. I was doing a speed test driving east on 270 ( away from the LTE site ).. got about 7 or 8 Mb/s down and was about 2 miles away.. That single tower is doing 'wonders' for (at least a 2 to 3 miles stretch of) High street.. I was maybe a mile north of 270 ( on high ) and had good LTE.. those south of 270 ( on high ) are getting it better because the tower is closer to them.
  15. rf40928 says: Can you show me any proof of your 12 month "time limit" for all of us to move our plans?? The My-Way and All-In plans aren't meant to a tool against current Sprint Everything Data Plan holders.. They were a response to the other carriers Plans of which I'm sure early phone trade-ins were a part of. but here's a excerpt of a SPRINT column: "Sprint Chief Executive Dan Hesse told Reuters the [new] guarantee would reassure customers who were worried about leaving AT&T or Verizon Wireless and then having Sprint pull the offer of unlimited services." There you have it. Guarantee'd Unlimited data is a marketing tool to assure customers leaving other carriers that it's ok to leave and go to Sprint ..it's nothing to do with all current Everything Data plan holders.. If you have ONE line My-way is pretty much a win-win for the consumer. You go from unlimited cell to cell calls in the old plan ..to.. unlimited calls (period) in the new.. In the new My-Way ( single line plan ) You get a 5 GB mobile hot spot thrown in and the GUARANTEE of unlimited data that you keep pitching. Otherwise, for current customers that have more then TWO lines.. The new plans cost more.. until there is a reason - for those customer like me - THERE IS NO REASON TO SWITCH. I'm saving money right now staying on the old.. I'm not worried about losing unlimited data. SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son has said he wants to keep Unlimited data around to differentiate Sprint from it's rival carriers. Son says's he spending the bulk of 16 Billion of additional upgrades (over the next two years ) on base stations - which means more coverage in areas where Sprint has little or none.. A win-win for all of us - More Coverage & Unlimited data will be offered for a long time..
  16. Seems like Sprint is close to AT&T in terms of city.... But AT&T covers alot more interstates that connect those cities, but Sprint will get there..
  17. rf40928 says: Also if you look CLOSELY at the plans.. on the NEW plans once you add more then 2 lines you pay on the new data plans then the old 'Everything' plans. For TWO LINES both old and new plans cost about the same..It's when lines three and four are introduced where people start to get screwed. Let's look at a situation where you would need a family plan. Each line after the first line ($50) would cost $10 less than the line before (i.e. $40 for the second line, $30 for the third, $20 for the fourth). It's nice of Sprint to decrease the price by $10 a month, but you still have to pay $30 for unlimited data on each line. On the new plans, a family plan with four people will run you about $260 every month. Currently, the most similar plan would currently run you around $210 which, unless your family is calling a boatload of landlines every month ( because the old plan only covers unlimited cell to cell calls ) - you're probably never going to run into a problem with. It's also worth mentioning that these new plans would make a family plan with three lines the same $210 it costs now to have a four line family plan with data, when it used to cost just $179.98. So new plans best for accounts with 2 lines or less.. New plan makes unlimited calls include land lines ( old plan was only cell to cell ). New plan guarantees data for life. I'm staying with the old plan though: it's cheaper ( I have more then 2 lines ) and I don't see any stipulation yet that'll make them take away my unlimited data on my older plan.
  18. I'm impressed. I drove down High Street to see how useable that new LTE site is on the south side is.... If you're looking at map ( or not ) where High street INTERSECTS with 270 - you're still maybe a mile away from the LTE site.. Well I did a speedtest about 3/4 of a mile North of that point. It was a place where there are many resteraunts, gas stations and a few apartments. My speed test was just a tad under 7 Mb/s down.. up was only about 2 Mb/s.. As I got to my closest point to 270 (driving South on High) ... the signal was about -94 ...I was still almost a mile away from the LTE site.. So I take the ramp off High and get on 270 and begin driving EAST.. I drive a mile east from that point and my speed test is around 8 Mb/s down.. I'm thinking "I'm nearly 2 miles away".. So I guess geographically the flat area works well with the whole line of site principal..because the signal there was much more useable far away then the Morse Road tower.. For example, You can pick up LTE by Shell Gas Station ( On Morse Road ) next to Easton, but when you drive west and head closer to the tower you LOSE the signal because the road dips down for a mile before the elevation of the road goes back up.. during this time even though you're closer you've lost the signal. The area surronding the LTE site on the south has a more level terrain which is better for those around there getting LTE off that site.. It seems to me the 1900 has pretty decent range.. It also seems apparent once Sprint gets towers all around 270 it's gonna be really nice..
  19. rf40928: stay positive .. If you have access to the NV Acceptance Reports you'll see they often end up turning on 4, 5 towers a day (as things pick up).. we're gonna look one day and realize they added several towers in one day..
  20. ------------------------ rf40928: The tower is located off Jackson Pike maybe 100 feet from 270 outerbelt.. I wouldn't call this a Grove City tower ( Grove City more west of 71 ) The tower is located east of 71 & actually closer to High Street by far .. Yes, a small part of west side Grove City 'may' pick this up.. but it seems much closer to those living, eating, walking along High St ..as well as people commuting along 270 and 71.. Sprint's plan 'appears' to be turn on the towers along the 270 outer-belt and outer communities and work its way inside the city as it nears completion.. then again who knows what the plan is..
  21. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ rf40928: Although I already quoted you once and replied.. Later I looked at the T-Mobile LTE coverage map in Columbus. I was surprised to see T-Mobile is barely ahead of Sprint .. T-Mobile looks to have about 4 sites versus Sprint's (as of today) 2 sites.. It won't be much longer and you'll have LTE.. I doubt T-Mobile is rolling out LTE at every site in Columbus ( the way Sprint is doing )... Sprint is bringing LTE to around 200+ sites in and around Columbus.. So what is she right about ? That she has 4G first? No biggie..
  22. ---------------------- When you look at the NV Acceptance Reports.. Most cities (at one time or another ) have 5 or 7 LTE sites turned on in one day.. Now wouldn't that be sweet for Columbus ? We could log on any day and see that several LTE sites have been turned on in Columbus - especially once things pick up steam.. But even more then Blue ( LTE ) sites on the map .. I'm hoping for more Green sites ( 3G/800/LTE ) and Yellow sites ( 3G/4G ) which means better everything
