  1. Agreed, that 3rd purple area (Cinncy ) is pretty distant - maybe 5 miles.. ...Im glad Columbus has another tower
  2. ------------------ Go to sensory and zoom... 3rd tower ( for Cinncy ) would appear to be east of 275 ....Let the good news keep coming more over the next few weeks ! That's 7 LTE towers in Ohio.. and how many more in the coming weeks.. ??
  3. ------ Well, now we have another LTE tower in Columbus .. South Columbus 270 / Jackson Road.. It's showing on sensorly and marked officially as "LTE" on the Network Vision Complete Map ( found in the sponsor area ) ..
  4. Sensory is showing more purple on south 270 area .. I had to zoom in .. http://www.sensorly.com/map/4G/US/USA/Sprint/lte_310sprint#q=Ohio If this is accurate... Cleveland, Cinncy, Columbus : All have two LTE towers (and in only the last 4 weeks ).. looks as if Ohio will be heavily LTE by end of year
  5. In the end I think Sprint will beat T-Mobile by a long shot ... T-Mobile is slightly ahead but despite what you hear ... T-Mobile began working on 4G prep way back in 2010 changing equipment to support HPSA+ ( and which could easily be upgraded to LTE ).. Tmobile did the body of upgrade work in 2011 and 2012 because they began LTE trials in mid 2012.. So when all the T-Mobile 'Bots' come out of the walls and say T-Mobile rolled out LTE in 6 months - this is not accurate nor completely honest. T-Mobile did what they did ( in 6 months ) because of 3 years worth of previous work and upgrades made this time frame possible... Based on spectrum available, and budget...Sprint will surpass T-Mobile in LTE coverage... Back to the T-Mobile upgrade time frame... This really isn't much different then Sprint ( which began the work in late 2011/ early 2012 ) .. Considering Sprint is switching out ALL of the old equipment ( and having to wait for backhaul ).. they are making good progress.. Sprint is also using the most modern equipment. It can be upgraded to new bands with a simple software update. From what I understand Sprint can actually go LTE-A from a software upgrade ! ( http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/158342-a-rare-look-inside-an-lte-cell-site-operated-by-sprint-in-san-francisco ) The other carriers can't.. 6. You woke up to LTE in your house? Wow.. must be nice. . Where part of town do you live?
  7. Yeah.. thats's an awfully dark purple .. so hopefully this is another sign that LTE is coming instead of a sensorly issue!
  8. Funny you say that " C'mon!!! Who really wants to make phone calls a-these-days???" In the 600 Mhz Topic thread someone had a theory Sprint would move data to 600 Mhz LTE and have 800 for 1xa.. I said I doubt Sprint would waste all of its 800 Mhz for voice calls when people are making less voice calls every year.. Sprint would first off have to get enough 600 to move all data there.. and right now there's too many "what- ifs"... I think Sprint would use 600 to enhance data or voice.. and possibly use it in select markets.. but ok.. im getting off Columbus topic..
  9. Thx for the reply..I sent you a msg to your mail because iam not sure what can be said in open topic by sponsors..
  10. Yeah.. I'm really excited for LTE, but Iam for 800Mhz 1x A as well.. cuz it'll mean I can actually make calls indoors at work.. Right now on breaks I go outside.. which can be nice.. but in the freezing cold or storm showers it's not so ideal, huh?
  11. Anyone see any evidence of NV on these pics? This is east Columbus
  12. It wouldn't make a lot of sense to bring down several towers at once for "normal maintenance" in one area - all at the same time, unless something happened to damage these towers and disrupt service, but Sprint doesn't always seem to make sense either. Even if these are NV upgrades though.. it may be like a lot of places where you get NV 3G and/or 800, but no LTE due to awaiting fiber backhaul.. Of course better call quality is always a plus..
  13. .. I'm also looking forward to 800 because I'll be able to make calls indoors at work - which now I can't.. Overall, though, my call quality is good and I rarely drop calls - but I have more the last couple months - which Iam blaming on the upgrade process ... The 3G upgrades are nice, but in most areas are not a big deal. Sprint needs LTE so that its UNLIMITED data package is truly a reason to switch ( and stay ) with Sprint- otherwise 3g is usually enemic..
  14. 800 Mhz can go further and penetrate structures much better then 1900 Mhz.. Overall signal will be better, but noticeably indoors as well where signal sometimes gets weak - especially in work buildings that have more brick and steal then a typical home. There are not phones (yet) that can do 800 Mhz LTE, but most are excited that Sprint is improving quality in more then one aspect. For now 800 Mhz means mostly better call quality. Where I work I can call from outside - but once I go inside I won't even try because I'll drop the call. This is where 800 Mhz comes in and will change that. 800 should also improve coverage because in places where the call quality is "iffy" right now it should be solid when 800 is rolled out since 800 goes further then 1900..
  15. I'm pretty pumped up about the upgrade, and thankfully I have the patience to suck it up until it comes through. After using the 4G LTE up on Morse Road a few times.. I can say when you start getting used to lightning fast webpage loads, Youtube ( which now seem to load faster and with higher quality video) and better response times from web based applications - I can whole-heartedly say that going back to 3G is like going from a Mustang 5.0 to a Ford Pinto...
  16. Not to mentioned Softbank already has experience with rolling out and managing TD-LTE ...If anything Softbank has valuable experience to give Sprint in Clearwire. This could prevent mistakes Sprint would've made on it's own. A lot of the new plans / paperwork/ lawyers happen invisibly behind the scenes. The last thing Softbank wants to do is slow down a current upgrade; Although Softbank is taking the upgrade further and deeper then Sprint could've done by itself.
  17. Yes, I know, I followed all the drama.. but sure glad it did.. the Softbank deal pretty much sealed it and was the main factor I decided to suck it up and stay with Sprint. I think in another year they'll be pretty damn good..
  18. When LTE Launches in Columbus we can all still post here I suppose..? I have considered like many cities Columbus will get LTE and Sprint could likely comeback again with more upgrades especially with adding Sprint 2500 Mhz ( possibly also in the form of micro-towers ).. Sprint's original budget was only around 5 Billion (first year or two?) .. Softbank seems to want to use most of the money its dumping into Sprint for upgrades.. I kinda felt like following Sprint's plan they would turn on LTE and come back to all those places with additional upgrades - although this can't be the way it works in every city - as I know some cities already have 2500 Mhz turned on; According to another thread that showed an announcement that Sprint made.
  19. I went with Dec 2013 because my thoughts were along the the lines of a few things. One being backhaul can be a matter of months and as far as we know is close to being done. I seriously doubt fiber will be another year. Another thought: Sprint's schedule has Columbus as 1st Qrt 2014.. Usually it seems LTE is turned on a few months before the "Official Announcement" in terms of a Pre-Launch kinda thing. The single tower on now in Columbus has fiber.. and other towers near it may be very close.. Although other far away could be close to fiber as well. Many were probably caught off guard when the Morse Road LTE tower came online.. Sprint is launching very quick under the circumstances.. I'm wondering what the next official launch sites will be and IF we will finally be on "the list" of cities where they announce: "LTE" will be coming soon.. I think we're getting to a threshold point where they could say "LTE will be coming to Columbus" if they are 3 or 4 months off from a Pre-Launch.. If a Pre-Launch was Dec 2013 to Jan 2014 ... Sprint would closely meet their scheduled timeline for Columbus LTE "Official Launch"... I don't mind being wrong, by the way, but in this case: Let's hope YOU are wrong with your Dec 2014 prediction... ok ?
  20. Is there a good chance Columbus will be mostly LTE by Dec 2013? ( Unofficially, not announced )
  21. Wow....Seems like a lot more work is being done in Columbus then beleived ..
  22. There are two Sprint towers close to where I live ( East 270: Blacklick / Columbus ) being worked on.. How long is a tower "down" while they upgrade? I noticed I was no longer picking up the towers on the tower search app. I did a search and it looks like im roaming on a Verizon tower.. Does that sound right ?
  23. who lives in Granville or goes there ? Im curious how service has changed.. ??
