  1. A little off topic, but it sure is fun beating up on AT&T with my lowly single band iPhone 5. Haha.

Last night we were in San Marco with a bunch of friends (all of which have AT&T). One of my buddies busted out his new HTC M8 and started showinf off his speedtests, which prompted a race, if you will. Needless to say, they all couldn't believe their eyes when my Sprint iPhone trounced their AT&T LTE. It was consistently 18-25mbps while theirs struggled to get above 8-10mbps.

They had excellent signal, while my B25 signal was about -105dbm.

This happens a lot but people are so in denial about it and have such a strong dislike for the Sprint name that they just can't believe it. Sad really.

I've said it before, but I own devices on other networks and my Sprint iPhone is usually always faster, even on a 5x5mhz B25 carrier. I can't wait to finally pick-up a Tri-band phone. Then I'll really show them! [emoji41]

Disclaimer: I don't usually condone the excessive use of speedtests, but sometimes it's called for, especially when the burden on the network is outweighed by the crying of DeathStar subscribers.

Sprint is a lot better than people give them credit for. Now with band 26 online my wife gets LTE all around town and in places that she would normally roam. She was wanting to switch carriers up until two weeks ago. Now she loves her service and I do too. ????

  2. 1.16 looks pretty good. I can't compare it to .23, .17, or 1.13, but on Band 25 it's only about 6 dbm worse than .15. I don't have any B26 or B41 here though, so y'all will have to test that for me.

So far my results is about the same as yours. I'm about to go for a ride and a sec and see how it performs in places I frequent most.

  3. So will b41 also suffer from ecsfb issues when it is first turned on on Sprint NV sites (the way b26 did/does)?

Here in Jacksonville before we were officially a spark market I experienced eCSFB issues on b41. I was running my nexus 5 on the .15 modem. I connected to the site but was in LTE only mode. Couldn't call or text.

For people with the new software you will get kicked to 3g.

  4. Since a lot of you guys are now rooted following the Nexus update, I'd highly recommend downloading Franco Kernel Updater! I have been using it for two months now (off and on), and there is certainly a big battery gain just by flashing the kernel.

You can try the free version-

But I'd recommend supporting the dev and buying the full release. If you are hesitant on spending $5.50 on an app (it's worth it) then you should build survey credit with Google Opinions and pay with that.

What type of results are you seeing? Do you have any screenshots?

  5. Anyone having MMS problems where the phone refuses to download the message or know how to get around it on hangouts? I keep getting the message "message not downloaded, touch to retry". I also get a red exclamation mark by the senders who sent me them. Thanks.

This can happen if you are on .15 radio and you are connected to a band that doesn't have eCSFB active. I've had this happen several times.

  6. None theoretically. Sprint has to finish nv 1.0. A pending merger isnt justification to leave individual sites in dysfunction. I wouldnt hang around expecting expansion or more coverage than you currently get though...

The two networks will have to be operated in parallel for a little while until they are fully integrated. Both LTE networks will be available to the other network, provided that you have a newer phone. I would think that newer Sprint phones will be allowed to use WCDMA for voice going forward. WCDMA + LTE will be added to all 2g T-Mobile sites + all non-colocated Sprint sites. I am of two mind about band 26 LTE. I would rather they implement WCDMA on band26 so that all subscribers (T-Mobile + Sprint) benefit from better voice coverage.

Nothing major. Everything might be same but SoftBank may decide to build out TMUS aws on sprint existing sites.

As far as the integration of the network for this merger, I don't see it being as bad as Sprint and Nextel.

Well its good to know that everything should work out smoothly. Now my last fear is that Softbank isn't going to compete aggressively after the merger but align their pricing close to what the big two have going on. That would suck.

  7. I don't think Sprint will ever accelerate NV. They seem to be convinced that their plodding past is good enough, even though it seems to be squandering the one true advantage they have, a large quantities of sprectum they can use for Lte.

Maybe they are controlling the things they can control. I feel sprint is doing all they can do. They just need to light fire under Ericsson.
