  1. Hey guys, I've noticed a weird thing about my new Nexus 5's screen. When held up to the light you can see matrix, almost like of pixels but they seem to large to be pixels. This can be seen when light is glaring off the screen especially, even if the screen is off. Is anyone else experiencing this, or just me?

Please check out these two pictures and you can kind of see what I'm talking about:

    Thanks!

That happens with the Nexus 7 and it used to happen to my Asus Transformer Prime as well.

  2. Does charging with the screen on seem really slow for anyone else, or is it my funky USB cable?

Idk if this could be similar, but charging my Nexus 7 and having daydream on actually makes my Nexus waste battery instead of charge it.

I've tried it with both the computer and a wall charger.

  3. So far it seems battery life has been worse than my EVO LTE. Maybe i need to drain it past 50% to get the battery indicator to be more accurate. I believe the EVO LTE had a 2100 mah battery, so i should be seeing better life or the same.

That's interesting. The EVO LTE used to give me great battery life. I would get near 16 hours or usage.

It is a new phone and generally the batteries aren't the best when you first get them.

  4. Mine is supported.  I had to go into the new Tap & Pay section in Settings and select which software I wanted to use with Tap & Pay.  I selected Google Wallet and now it says it's ready to use.  But i haven't tried it yet.

I hope it works, that would be great :D

  5. Mine was to be delivered today but UPS delivers while I'm teaching so I called to have it held for pickup. Turns out I had to drive all the way to Homestead! UPS doesn't have a facility in Miami?

Anyways, this thing is a beauty. Both the hardware and Android 4.4

Jesus that's far. And yeah there's one up in Doral! I've never had a package come from homestead.

Good luck with your new toy :)

  6. Came back with the SKU and finally got them to give me a SIM (they had TONS in stock but had to convince them the nexus 5 sim wasn't special).

Now, the MEID doesn't seem to be in the Sprint database yet - they told me that I can't activate it until November 8th.

Sprint sometimes really drops the ball.

    Meanwhile, over at T-mobile... :P

  7. Does this phone use a hardware identifier separate from the SIM to authenticate CDMA?  Or did they go with SIM based auth for Voice/3g as well as LTE?

If I'm not mistaken, only GSM phones can be activated via SIM only. Sprint will have to authenticate the device through their systems first.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

  8. You obviously have more wireless engineering knowledge in your pinky finger than I do in my entire body, but this is what wiki says:

LTE, an initialism of Long Term Evolution, marketed as 4G LTE, is a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones and data terminals. It is based on the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA network technologies, increasing the capacity and speed using a different radio interface together with core network improvements.

I think that was a joke he was making.
