So don't put a lock screen like me. As long as my phone can make it until I can get the Note 3, I'll be happy.
I should have added that I don't like leaving my phone without a pin or pattern. So if the scanner makes it easier, I would welcome it. That's what I meant to say.

Ehhhh...I am still not impressed. I mean if you have a screen lock with a pin code or pattern, can someone still use your phone anyways? Also with Android Device Manager, you can remotely wipe your phone if you lose it.
I guess I have to see a presentation that wows me but I don't see the necessity for now especially if it delays shipments of phones.
I despise lock screens, I honestly hate putting passwords in, or lock patterns. If this makes it easier for me I'd welcome it. I still think it butchers the design of the One line though.

I almost severed my finger about 2 and a half years ago, pretty gruesome scene at the time, LOL. Thanks for the reminder.
I had a friend slice of the tips of his index and middle finger a couple years back with a folding chair. It completely collapsed while he was trying to shuffle forward a bit. Severed fingers give me the creeps.

Yeah, until I get you drunk and passed out then take you finger and unlock your phone, LOL.
This whale agrees with you:

What would a fingerprint scanner be needed for on a smartphone? I mean it sounds cool as a feature but in reality I don't see the need for a fingerprint scanner. But I am curious what that black box is assuming that image is accurate.
IMO if a fingerprint scanner is done right, then it's a pretty nifty feature to have. Just an added level of security.

I would agree that a trackpad is more useful than a fingerprint scanner but when I look at a device this size, making it more usable for one handed use simply can't be a priority.
I have to agree, it's just one of those things where you can't have both. A large screen and easy one-handed use. It's the trade off that people SHOULD be expecting when they buy a device this big.

uhhh.... two post up
Ah, lol nvm! I didn't see that

What in the world is up with that square under the camera?

Nvm I just looked it up, it's supposed to be a fingerprint scanner. It's hideous!

Supposedly HTC is skipping the 4.2.2 update in favor of the 4.3 update.
I'm not too bothered by this TBH, the phone still performs well. No lag, no glitches or weird things. I can be patient

LMAO!If you are 5 inches while still "floppy," that is none too shabby.

Having years on you is not fair, how so? I wish I was still your age, means I would still be in school and not have to worry about bills and work.

I'm not sure if you are referring to me. If so, I'm in school and I still worry about work and bills. Everything is subject to your own experiences. Honestly I can't wait to be done with school and have my degree and all of this behind me. It's too much for just one person to deal with, IMO.

God do I make myself sound THAT old? Jesus!
No, not 30's

Think my favorite part has to be the full USB port. Such a great feature for a tablet and insanely useful. I didn't buy the touch keyboard so sometimes I'll just hook my wireless USB receiver up to it and use my portable desktop keyboard.
Great for playing videos off of a flash drive or external HDD too!
I do miss that from my Transformer Prime
Maybe one days they will make MicroUSB flash drives?

He's right though, i've seen 5 inch floppies, they are huge, but the 3 inch ones are the ones I used.

Really? Finally. It took them too long to release it. It was FCC approved before the 8XT was released.

Reminds me of Verizon and the HTC ONE.

The 8X. The 8XT is a Sprint only variant. But I'm not buying anymore Sprint devices other than Triband.

Oh ok, I was confused cause this thread is for the 8XT.
I would have bought an 8X had I stayed with T-mo, but I'm not so sure how I'd feel going back to WP8. It's not as vibrant as Android to me.

I just purchased a HTC 8X yesterday. I was getting tired of switching out my Tmo and AT&T SIMs back and forth in my Nexus 4, and the Nexus 4 doesn't work with AT&T LTE. So it should arrive on Thursday. It's been awhile since I've used a HTC product, and I'm really looking forward to trying out Windows Phone 8 OS. Maybe we will be able to revive this thread.
Now if I can get a reasonable deal on a BB Z10, I'd try that one out too.
Robert
The 8X, or 8XT?
Speaking of 8X I went to the Microsoft store and saw it again, it really is such a nice phone with an amazing design. I love the curved back.

AJ, what is the deal with you and folks who use their phones a lot? Why do you keep on making these ridiculous backhanded comments? Aren't we all here as friends who share common interests?
Did some guy beat you up as a kid with his smartphone?
AJ has a peculiar way of wording his opinions and facts. Learn to live with it cause he's pretty damn smart.
Also your last question wasn't needed. If you don't like his comments, don't reply in the same manner. Treat others how you wanna be treated, right?
Regardless, I'm interested in the Active Display, it sounds really nice. Kind of reminds me of some of the Nokia N9 (I think?) features.

the flip happens during solar maximum.. which is usually when we have the most communications issues.. due to more sunspots and solar flares and CME's usually... this solar cycle's maximum has been rather muted, and so far has been the quietest since 1906
I'm going to start blaiming all my cell phone problems, from here on forward, on the upcoming solar flip.
"Can't hear me? Sorry it's this damn sun getting in the way, you know. Solar flips and what not."

So, I think this phone looks great, but I'm not buying into LG's UI, it looks so cluttered. After using Sense 5, and looking at the notification bar on the LG I really do appreciate how much better it is to have the Notification Bar, rather clean (minus the power saver, bleh). Not a big fan of the unlock screen, the icons and everything look dated, they remind me of the GS2, instead of the GS3/4. Plus I've been spoiled by the ONE with it's great sound, camera, and construction. Other than that, I think the power button placement is genius, honestly. I have never minded power button placements, they have to go somewhere, but having it in the back makes them much more easily accessible.
