  1. Pre-Paid is the new rage

    ting.com and Straight Talk.

People are more willing to buy devices since the plans don't include a "phone on layaway". Hopefully this will propel the Nexus line

And lots of people are buying iPhones full price to use on T-mobile. So it's turning around in the US that people are getting used to the idea

I don't really see how Pre-Paid is the "new rage" when companies has more post paid customer bases than Pre-Paids. Many of the people that I know that use iPhones on T-mo they do it throught trades or craigslist, etc,. I know of very few people who would sheel out close to $600 for a phone, let alone to use the phone on only 2g network speeds.

  2. I have to subjectively say that I still think the EVO LTE is one of the best phones out there. It's light, big, and has one of the most amazing screens I have ever seen. I will probably always buy HTC because of the build of their phones. I think they are much tougher, and they don't feel like they are going to break if they hit the floor from a sitting position.

  3. So this might be a dumb question, but how do I find out what the network strength is and to know if an iPhone 5 is connected to eHRPD? I have an android phone so I know where to find it there, but I have no idea on the iPhone 5.

    Thanks for any help.... looool.

  4. eHRPD improves pings in most instances, because the LTE core is faster to process data packets than the MSC, and also the routing to the internet backbone is improved.

This is where I get confused, and you've probably answered this before. If it's done through an LTE Core, then does that mean that there are LTE panels? If not, how does it process data through a core that is not there? Or is it all down through just software, on the same old CDMA panels?

Never mind I just answered my own question lol :P

  5. eHRPD will only result in faster speeds over EVDO when the Sprint MSC is slowing down the data (which is pretty uncommon). Otherwise, if eHRPD is faster, it is a coincidence, not comparing apples to apples (like time of day) or you were on different sites and unaware. See this write up: http://s4gru.com/ind...dpost__p__52976

Sorry I meant to say Ping times. Not the data, it was still around .4-.8mbps. I got pings as low as 87ms. I think that's pretty good.

  6. Your guess is good as mine. But my guess is testing. I think they turned it on in several markets last week to see how it was working. Then turned it off when they concluded the testing. But I do not know for certain,

    Robert

I liked eHRPD. My data seemed to have been working much faster. Sadly I can't get it right now and my internet isn't working, so I'm calling Sprint so they can fix it.

  7. My 3GS was getting eHRPD this past weekend back in Jacksonville, FL... pretty consistent throughout the Southside areas I was in all weekend.. I'll keep an eye out for 4G turn-on...

Back here in Charlotte, only CDMA in the areas I drive in...

You mean the GSIII? I got confused for a second and thought that you had an iPhone 3GS, but then I looked at your phone's list.

  8. That's like me with Windows. The first computer I learned how to use was a Macintosh. Then my mom bought an IBM PS/1 (I think the PS stood for "Piece of S***"). It was harder to figure out Windows 3.1, and I was just annoyed by it. The only thing that was cool on it was the After Dark Screensaver collection. (I used to watch Marbles every single night.) Then when my grandparents bought a Mac, I settled right back into one so easily. They loved theirs so much, my grandpa went and spent somewhere between $2,000 and $3,000 for my mom to have one too. I customized that machine every way I could. It was great. During the 90's and most of the 2000's I had to use a PC for school because Microsoft Office for System 7 (At that time it was just Word & Excel) just wasn't cutting it for my schoolwork, and we couldn't afford a new Mac, so I bought a custom PC. But I still hated Windows because to me it wasn't as user friendly as all my Macs were growing up. But now I still need Windows for school, so I just use Parallels or VM Ware Fusion.

La Escuela! I use Splashtop on my Asus when I have to run Windows Specific programs. Granted it came free with my tablet, I would not pay to use that program. I find Macs very hard to use, especially when the right click is found by holding the Function or whatever button. That has nothing to do with iOS, but I think they have the same philosophy with iOS. Hidden functionalities (is that what that would be called?)

  9. I personally use my tablet for everything. I have my laptop stashed away in my closet, only bringing it out when I need to repair a phone, root, or just install some software for one of my classes. Other than that I use my tablet for everything. I have the Transformer Prime with the Keyboard so typing is not a problem for me. My favorite thing about my tablet is the battery life. I charge is about once every week and a half. I would buy a tablet if you're not too dependent on a laptop for very serious heavy program.

  10. My main reason for choosing Android over iOS is simple. I really dislike Apple, and while they release beautiful products, I am not a fan of using them. I actually find it hard to use an iPhone than my Android phone. To me not having a dedicated back key, or being able to have a menu key option is just really confusing to me. Not to mention that to bring up certain options you have to click the home button multiple times.

I have a very hard time using iOS since I'm so used to Android. I actually feel dumb using iOS. But that's just me, I know that once you get used to it, it's very simple and fluid.

  12. Noooo.. Think about the Huge beautiful screen, and the kicstand, and and and and and.... A couple of other things...

Personally I have a vendetta against apple because of their business practices and their arrogant position against their own products. If I can fix my phone on my own, then I will. But it's hard to fix an iPhone if it's without the help of apple. I get what you mean with the whole LTE issue, and hopefully they will fix it in the future with a software update.

On the plus side, with an iPhone you know that it has a very tight knit ecosystem of apps, and what not. You will get timely updates, and possibly some of the best community support. The decision is always yours.

  13. Haha I've been to spots like around sunrise blvd by the beach where I get 1 Mbps down all day. But ya most places around me I get horrendous speeds. I just noticed the eHRPD status change for the first time at my house. I'm gonna be on the lookout for more locations. Hopefully LTE will start lighting up in the next 2 or 3 months :/ I can't stand seeing my buddy blaze though apps and websites and me get no connection

i've noticed that the Ping times have been great, ranging from 90~127, but data speeds haven't been that much better. Only yesterday in the morning were the speeds better for me. But for the rest of the day they weren't that great. I was however able to load youtube videos with lower Ping times.
