  1. I'm hoping the SGSIII also has the Quad core Krait SOC. It would make sense given the rumors of a quad core US version with LTE. This could mean the US version is more powerful than the international version by a LOT. Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
  2. At least many people in small towns can enjoy WiMax.
  3. I hear 1xRTT has a max speed of 384kbps with real world speeds around 100~200 kbps. So since 1xAdvanced has maximum speeds of ~560kbps I would expect 300~400kbps on it but since LTE will be deployed at 800 I seriously doubt you will run into 1x data enough for this to matter, unless you're roaming which is still 1xRTT.
  4. I lol'd at that. Using a brand new computer for presentations, how decadent!
  5. What was that about EV-DO advanced and Next-Generation Wireless WAN?
  6. Konane, you're a badass. I'm glad you found s4gru. I'm still sad you stopped devving for the epic with the SyndicateRom.
  7. I suspect spectral efficiency, carrier aggregation in release 10, roaming (part of the att breakup deal) and VoLTE play prominent roles Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
  8. It was definitely a good purchase. It's pretty awesome for netflix and wasting time. Sent from my cm_tenderloin using Tapatalk
  9. Everytime I've been to a Sprint store and asked about it, they would say "We recommend against rooting, It could break your phone *wink *wink". Naturally, all of their phones were rooted. What did concern me is that many times the employees recommended pirating apps on 4share.
  10. They're just mad that they actually have to recycle their spectrum for future technologies (in other words take down the edge network). With regards to data prices up by 30%. I bet they went from 10 cents a gig to 13 cents a gig.
  11. Way too much! My parents have Cox. They pay for the 12mbps plan (preffered?) but we actually get 25~30mbps.
  12. Try just typing "getprop" without the "RIL.MSL" then scroll for a five digit number.
  13. Do you? That's under a reeaallly heavy network load, I've seen 400mbps down. This happens sometimes too.
  14. did you root and try "getprop ril.msl" in mobile terminal?
  15. I wonder if they will bother trying to decrypt VPN traffic? (I won't go too nuts with it, don't get mad)
  16. 50x50 = 100mbps average download speeds on LTE!!! For determining speeds on LTE Average Spectral Efficiency * Bandwidth downlink = Average Data rate 2bit/hz * 50mhz = 100mbps ! Peak Spectral Efficiency * Bandwidth downlink = Peak Data rate 6bit/hz * 50mhz = 300mbps !
  17. That depends on what you need it for and whether you have a solid home internet connection. Let me break it down for you.
  18. You are close to DC, which is a first round market. Expect LTE in 2012. Your location is between the airport and highway 15, which is covered.
  19. Oscillation is a problem. I would assume with multiple indoor antennas they would pointed downward so as not to send the amplified signal back into the outside antennas on your roof. My indoor antenna has a horizontal implementation which requires me to aim it away from the outdoor antenna and maintain a required distance away from it. The PCS band will be the bread and butter band both before and after network vision. So before network vision you will get 1xRTT voice and EV-DO data. After Network vision you will get 1xAdvanced voice and your choice of EV-DO or LTE for data. As for outside antenna polarity, I don't know but my intuition says that mounting it this way --- would reduce indoor oscillation compared to this way | .
  20. Wilson Amplifiers support all PCS bands including the G-Block, however 800 SMR is unsupported so using the signal booster will definitely help before and after network vision but it won't be a complete solution as it won't support SMR 800 or BRS 2.6ghz. To reiterate, these boosters will increase post-network vision LTE signal on the PCS band but only on the PCS band. I think that they are a worthwhile investment as my booster took a -108dbm signal outside to full bars near the inside antenna (which I use for tethering). I have only used the wilson 801247 which is only meant for use in a short range (like on a desk). So I don't have any experience with full building solutions (I couldn't afford one at the time and only reallly cared about tethering).
  21. I didn't mean to say that Sprint won't be able to handle the demand. I'm just saying it might be higher than VZ (overall but especially per capita).
  22. I'm going to have to say that's an unfair comparison. It is much more expensive for Verizon customers to get smart phones, their data plans are extremely expensive. As a result, Verizon has a much, much lower percentage of smart phone users compared to Sprint. From my experience, it is extremely rare to see a Sprint customer using a non-smartphone. Additionally, your site, sprintfeed and others are living proof that Sprint users tend to be much more tech savvy than the average consumer. We are all chomping at the bit to devour that unlimited LTE data. The Galaxy Nexus likely sold out all of its inventory so quickly for this very reason.
