  1. I think Sprint should give them the option for voice and data but throw in texting. Texts are just so cheap that it wouldn't hurt their bottom line, much. For the other services, charge a flat rate for it per service (data, minutes) or charge per use (if enabled).
  2. My Wimax has been out since it was announced.
  3. Pioneer cellular used to be a member of the Sprint Rural Alliance. They changed their allegiances to Verizon and now that area is considered low tier 2G roaming as opposed to SRA native 3G coverage like it was.
  4. I just want the nexus for gaurrunteed AOSP rom support even if it is unofficial. The Nexus S 4G had ICS roms two days after ICS was announced (which were built from SDK). They were actually decent and I used them for a while then got tired of ICS and moved back to MIUI.
  5. How about.... Sprint, the only carrier in the US actually willing to compete, (commence political attack ad), AT&T would like you to think that you need to limit your data to protect the network but really they're just too greedy to spend the 2% of their profits necessary to keep up with demand. We're Sprint and we didn't upgrade anything except a few priveleged cities and yet we still offer unlimited data. Don't believe the lies. Paid for by : The Tired Consumer Group Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
  6. I stick with them for unlimited unmonitored data (AT&T sends notices for tethering and therefore monitors you) as well as the family plan pricing that enables all of us to have smart phones (where only I used to have one).
  7. As far as interoperability goes Sprint claims the transition will be seamless between the two technologies. Wtih regards to traditional FDD-LTE vs TD-LTE, they are both still LTE rel. 9 (or 10 when advanced is rolled out) and are different only in the method they make use of spectrum. FDD-LTE is meant for traditional paired spectrum like the Sprint PCS band which has seperated uplink and downlink channels. One example of paired spectrum is the PCS G-Block which uses 1910-1915 mhz uplink and 1990-1995mhz downlink. These two links are seperated by 75mhz of bandwidth. TD-LTE is designed to be used with unpaired spectrum like the Clear BRS band which may be (making this up) 2500-2520mhz which has no separation (or guard band) between the downlink and the uplink. TD or Time division compensates for this by making use of that same band for both uplink and downlink and switches between the two links as a function of time like alternating current. So one isn't necessarily better than the other they are just designed for different spectrum allocations (paired vs. unpaired).
  8. Hmmm..... I hope the board isn't pushing for tiered data.
  9. Tulsa's coverage would agree with such an assertion. It's all in the ghetto. Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
  10. It's great when your school's internet crawls at an embarrassing 6mbps, tries to monitor you like the Chinese Golden Shield, and drops the connection completely on a daily basis.
  11. Many have said it before but I will say it again. Carriers and device manufacturers should be allowed to add their overlays and customization but should also be required to make available an up to date AOSP build, with source, to every device they sell to remain part of the open handset alliance. They have to make these builds anyway before they can add their overlays. Users and developers should have access to these builds. Edit: They also should be forced to open the bootloaders on every phone sold.
  12. I have been looking for one of these for years. My room has a very slight signal from a WiMax protection site. I can only get the signal when my phone is on the window with speeds very close to that of EV-DO. I have purchased a signal booster to boost PCS signal in the past and had a great experience with that (a wilson booster which took my service from roaming to full native Sprint 3G). So I have been looking to do the same with this weak WiMax signal Until today, the only systems I could find were $3000+ and only available on Ebay. This system is $250 for a kit and I might get it if LTE turns out to be a ways off.
  13. lol, yup When we do get it, I bet it's all in one fell swoop. It's probably one market or two at most for all of our sites.
  14. One more experiment I'll try. At my cabin Sprint signal is NEARLY non-existent. On a window, my phone picks up Zero bars (the absolute limit of connection) which can't even send texts but it is something. So I bought an amplifier and it works great for what I want but the range is limited (10 ft away = 1 bar, right next to it = full bars). So, I might use a homeplug system to use Sprint 3G to make more Sprint 3G. This could cause a problem with the phone connecting to the airrave instead of the tower / overamplification but I'm sure with some clever ingenuity I could make it work.
  15. So, If I tether with AT&T 3G then plug this device into the tethered laptop (set up to share the connection) can I create Sprint coverage using AT&T coverage? Cellular Inception I think I'll give it a go at my cabin.
  16. I'm on the phone right now. I hope I get it! Edit: It's in the mail.
  17. I tether from my cabin which is in the middle of nowhere. I have to use a a signal booster to even get a usable Sprint signal (no one lives near the cell site), So, when NV is complete I pretty much will have this one unburdened tower to myself and 12-20mbps is what I get on my home (Tulsa) cable connection, so I'm excited. 5-6mbps would be a welcome change in the city too, I could finally stream without skipping. I could also tether to get faster speeds than my College has (fail).
  18. Is it enough to support all current iDen users?
  19. I personally think the 900mhz smr band would be a great place to relocate the current iden network to so that NV can be rolled out on 800 sooner.
  20. So we have commercials about OKC Thunder players but no 4G. That's cruel.
  21. This should be unncecessary. Unlimited is alive and well in every country other than our own and the poor canadians. att must have had focus groups work to find new ways to add revenue with no investment and inventing a problem where there wasn't one was their answer. By acknowledging that these companies need to sell data by the byte you have fallen for their scam. Never ever accept tiered data as if it were necessary. Fight against it!
