  1. Fixmo provides FIPS for both Apple and Android, and just got approved I read. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  2. Yes. Pointing out facts makes you a troll. Making a statement like that makes you a fanboy. I can bash any platform just as much as apple, but if it's not what YOU want, we are trolls. iOS7 is case positive proof that Apple is not the company it was when Steve Jobs was around. Deal with it. He's not coming back. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  3. just tested tower on top of hill in East Windsor. No work has been done. 107 ping 1897 down 899 up during the day, its half that. so not too bad, but any other tower in town, and speeds are despicable. It really wasnt like this until recently. I think the movement of the nextel subs to Sprint has taken a toll in this area. My airport example is the best one I can offer. I cant complain about my immediate area speed, but, I have wifi at home, so it doesnt really matter what my local tower does. Soon. But not soon enough
  4. This. And then some. Apple makes a living off forcing you to upgrade. Android has such a fragmentation because really, unless you are a power user, the reason to upgrade is minimal. Android doesnt pull half the crap iOS does with what device can do what. Look at Siri, the other "groundbreaking" feature that has been a complete bust. You couldnt use it on the ipad 1 or 2. Why? Because Apple said so. But oh hey, great news!!! New ipad coming out same day as Siri that can!! Lucky you!! Only 500 bucks and its yours!! Dont pay any attention to the fact that the hardware is identical, or, could of been in the ipad you are replacing!! Then the app store. Dont even get me started. Apple has stopped innovating and has started chasing. Its not hard to figure that out, when you look at iOS7, it exemplifies it. iOS7 is Android Jellybean with a 2005 Palm Treo color scheme. Nuff said.
  5. Did a full drive of East Windsor and Windsor Locks today to kill some time, no sign of work anywhere, on any tower. Not much of an update, but its all I got. I was at Mt Sinai hospital for a class last week, which is literally right next to a tower according to the maps, but I couldnt see the tower in the foggy rain. My signal was no better, data no better. So while 3G accepted, didnt appear to have a new backhaul live.
  6. A year ago, before nextel subs moved on mass, things were a lot faster around here. Heck, i could get almost 2000 down at the airport, now I am lucky to pull 100, and at off hours it only peaks at 1000. Soon though. Its coming! Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  7. I was hoping you were right, then I was hoping my June 15 would be right, but barring pure luck, my next hope is my July 1 hope. Still nothing for LTE popping in this region yet. Damn. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  8. DSL. Three letters in that order that would make any sane person shiver at. ATT is one big scam, so their DSL on sense doesn't surprise me. Such a shame. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  9. So, I can't really verify anything on the water tank in East Windsor. Its secluded up on the hill, and the back yards I peeked through, I can see work on the ground, but so far nothing on the tank itself. I can see half the tank though, so should people start hanging off it, i should notice. Wish I had better news on that. Still don't see anything going on on top of the hotel at the airport, even though 3g data barely works. I am staring at - 63 evdo signal strength, and my speed test just now was. 100 down, 200 up. 10. From what I undestand, reading earlier posts, is no you cant. Now, that could be wrong, so take with a grain of salt. I only own an ipad (which work stuck a verizon data card in heh). I know I poked around on my mothers iphone trying to figure something, anything relevent out, but I cant figure it out, only to update network info (which I assume is prl)
  11. Do people read entire posts or just assume a negative connotation about apple means they must hate apple? I mean come on. I own an ipad for Petes sakes, i dont hate apple, i even said they are a great company. Anyway, the coverage will get better without a doubt. I hope the new iPhone prefers 800 over 1900 so the apple peeps can enjoy it as much as the androiders around here. And no, I am not on staff here, so don't try to bash the site staff because I denounced your precious iPhone. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  12. You might like the choices they make for you, but what does it matter when you don't know any different? Then, you want to know something different, but because you are not a techie, or dont have a desire to learn something new, you are a sheep in their pasture. There is no arguing Apple makes great products, but the turn off just as many people as they turn on with their "security" and "experience" restrictions on how you use your device. Case and point, the lack of sensorly. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  13. A lot of what Apple blocks has nothing to do with your security, it has everything to do with controlling your experience and tailoring you to an unchanging experience you get too familiar with. I have many friends with iPhone that are sick of apple, and tried several Android phones, but cant shake iOS because they are not tech geeks, and are overly familiar with the product. They don't care about what it can't do, they only focus on what it can do. Android people are opposite. They say, yea, this is cool, but how about we try XYZ. Look at the ability to change your keyboard on android vs iOS. They force you to like what you get, and before you know it, you are stuck like glue to the OS and then sometimes, even a fan boy is born. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  14. I am going to try to peek at the water tank above the nursing home (essentially above Walmart) tomorrow. Since its a Saturday, I don't expect to see much, and then I am driving out to the cape (love me some of that LTE there) I'll watch closely Monday. Someone took panels off the rack at the tower behind Hotcakes on RT 5, I don't know if they were nextel ones, but who else would be removing anything from that tower? I have a hunch, we are getting closer. Signal in this area was awesome, for years and years, and last week it started being crappy. I used to live by the river in EW, now, I live a few miles away in EW, so the signal woes were obvious to me. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  15. Oh ya? Oh ya? Oh ya? Well I say dish sucks most, because their phones are slow, and they don't even have phones, but they might, and they will suck, and vzw and att will have better phones everywhere, on average, some of the time, in some places, generally. Damn. How much do I have to donate to buy a ban on someone being ignorant? Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  16. Well well well, I am hoping things just got interesting. Saw a few trucks head up to the water tank tower in East Windsor next to the highway, and they were there all day. I couldnt catch the contractors name, and they had something on a trailer. Now, the public safety radio system in town had some issues early this week, and that radio tower is right next to the water tank, so, this really could be me just looking into it way to much, but who knows........The tower would have a huge impact on service on the i91 corridor, since it can see from Hartford to Springfield, maybe they are starting work. Cant hurt to hope right? Saturday morning I plan to snoop around from the backside a little and see if I can get any hints of whats going on up there.
  17. It's a game. Nothing more, nothing less. If they won the shares, they would just try to flip it for cash or partnership for their own network. If Dish was smart (which they arent), they would focus on making a product with the charlie vision, that they can sell off. Problem is, he wants total control. Dish is a crap company. I would leave sprint if dish took it over. I have lived and heard too many dish horror stories to want to go down that road again. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  18. I will say, its rare to get a good LTE speed in the area from New Bedford to Bourne. You will get solid LTE, and even when sitting near a tower, you are lucky to get 3 down, but you do get 10+ up, so doesnt really equate. I tried about 100 speed tests at various locations, and signal was decent according to signal check (definitely sub -100) LTE in Springfield I often get 7 up and down, frequently even better. I find it hard to be a load issue already, if it is, thats scary, because all my tests were pre-memorial day weekend, when the cape will start to fill with vacationers. I live in CT, but my family has a place in Wareham we generally spend weekends and more at.
  19. Well, horrible signal in East Windsor lately. Tower next to me keeps dropping off, and then down in the center of Warehouse Point/Windsor Locks the signal is even worse, like the towers across the river have died. Sad part is, I dont see any evidence of work going on to justify it. Any eyes see anything in the i91 north of hartford corridor going on?
  20. Nextel: i1000 plus i960 Some blackberry model popular at the time Went to ATT for a year on my personal line (left other family phones on nextel) wanted it for 3g data, but hated it (cingular and att fiasco) Then to Sprint: The i something hybrid phone with sprint voice/data and Nextel ptt. Honestly, the best phone I ever used for voice/ptt then blackberry tour 9650, followed by its new one (9670?) with the optical track pad Then EVO (was great, zero regrets) Then photon 4g. Awesome phone, but moto pissed me off with its lack of support after the sale (no ICS, no unlocked bootloader as promised) now Galaxy S3 Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  21. So today I was on my way to the cape and drove around Westport pretty thoroughly on both sides of 88, went up 6 and caught 195 to go the rest of the way. No LTE at all until I hit about a mile before the checkered water tank on 195 in New Bedford, then had it all the way to the 495 connection (end of my trip) I managed to map a bunch of new area in Wareham for sensorly, signal was solid all over the place. 4G was strong even in stores at the Wareham shops (Lowes and Target) Kinda disappointed Westport is still lagging behind. Barely had any real signal while on Gooseberry Island by Horse neck beach (issue for 5 plus years anyway) Sent from my Galaxy S3
  22. Yes, the locked bootloader. That was the other thing that really grinded my gears. Moto PROMISED unlocked bootloaders and failed to deliver those as well. Hell, I was even in their beta program for Photon firmware updates. Such a shame. The device was awesome, I loved it. Their lack of dedication after the sale REALLY pissed me off. Still does. I wont go back.
  23. To be honest, I have been very disappointed in Motorola high end phones thus far. I wouldn't be surprised if they flop the next Sprint LTE phone since Motorola seems to only do well with Verizon. As a Moto Photon 4G owner myself, I was initially excited for the phone which is why I got it but the lack of software updates and the failure of Motorola to provide the Photon 4G with ICS upgrade has really rubbed me the wrong way. Heck the Photon Q 4G LTE just barely got Android 4.1.2 in May 2013. You are in the exact same boat as me. I loved moto. Got the Photon, loved it. Then everything needed ICS to be worth a damn. Tick tock tick tock . Moto never delivered. They burned the bridge with me. Just like moto built iden. They done. Nextel. Done. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  24. Some of the accepted I am pretty sure are full build already. The GMO hit fast a few months ago, now things slowed down (in comparison ) Look for full build sites to be confirmed real soon. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  25. It's coming, don't worry. Before the end of the year you will be very happy. Biggest lesson in tech is, don't buy based on what's coming, either wait, or buy with the expectation of what is currently available. Sent from my Galaxy S3
