WSJ: Sprint looking at T-Mobile purchase
Mobilesolutions replied to LuisOlachea's topic in General Topics
There are many work-arounds, but what's the point? Can the 2 voice ecosystems not coexist under one operator? Sprint's 800MHz voice is likely to be the most superior vocal communication network in history, and for sake of ROI it's safe to say that a combined Sprint/T-mobile entity would use the HSPA-42 network as a kickback for the forseeable future. VoLTE is the future for city folks, in dense areas it is the efficient solution to handle mass voice traffic, but if you have a cabin on MT. Shasta you will likely be reliant on the more ancient 1X signals to carry your calls. -William -
Tis the season, and this Holiday season ends as a new page in the Sprint NV rollout begins. We all know that 2014 will bring a new emergence of signals to our Tri-band devices. I hope that each of you have plans to spend time with your families, celebrate, eat plenty of food & surf the web on Sprint's network. The S4gru community has grown tremendously throughout the year as Sprint has expanded their 4G network deployment to encompass many markets nationwide. I look forward to the fruits of this labor in 2014. Happy holidays, and God bless. -William *PS. Be sure to thank the moderators and staff, as they spend countless hours keeping this site in tip top shape. There is no online community like S4GRU, and their efforts should not go unnoticed. Robert, Rickie, AJ, Travis, and many others - your work here is appreciated by countless members and guests that rely on this site for their wireless fix; Thank you.

I have been eluding to quin-band and sexta-band phones for a long time. -Will -
I think it is an issue with the legacy site. This legacy site in particular is different than any site I have seen in the OK market. Instead of the typical 2 legacy antennas in my market this one has 3, much differently shaped longer, skinnier antenna panels. I am not sure for the reasoning behind this, however the 2 sites nearest to me "surround" the OU Memorial stadium. As my proximity draws nearer to the legacy the "connection can not be established" issue re-occurred. Standing nearly 200 meters from the legacy site LTE connectivity appears blocked, though I am 500 meters from a live NV site. The placement of these sites is extremely close [0.4 Miles] -Will

I have an issue i'm noticing, aside from being unable to make calls over Sprint and being required to use Magic Jack to remain on call for more than 45 seconds to a minute. While on WIFI my LTE connection displays in the top left portion of my status bar ( Signal Check PRO) I will maintain a -97 dBm or so, yet as soon as i turn WIFI off the connection will become sporadic. Jumping from -97 to -102, -107 and then I receive a trianglular box stating " Unable to establish a wireless connection" My phone remains in 1X mode for a moment then picks up EVDO_A. I have 3 sites within a mile from me, with the closest one being untouched by NV. Anyone else? I was holding LTE when i connected but now its unusable. -Will
