Well I can definitely tell you that over here TMobile only has 10 megahertz of band 71 so 5th generation Network on that spectral band that they have here is going to be laughable. Unless they repurpose the rest of their 3-g and 2G network spectral assets v g isn't going to be possible unless they do some serious densification here. Where I live if you go off the main road all the carriers including TMobile have densification issues.

Yea that’s nothing. Any mmwave auctions they are really going to be spending money cause you’re playing with Verizon, AT&T and whoever else. They will jack the price out of their reach unless their parent company helps out which I can see happening.  Right now Sprint and AT&T are sitting pretty comfy with their spectrum for 5G.  Oh and that crap ton of mmwave Verizon has as well.

If Sprint can keep that up they will definitely have a very very dense and expensive 5th generation Network. TMobile likes to brag way too much as I would say with them I'll believe it when I see it.

I agree and Sprint could attract just on Speed alone (just like what T-Mobile does). 5G is there chance to take over.  I will say that a lot of what T-Mobile is promising is riding on getting that 2.5. Will they be fine without it? Yes. But it’s going to be harder for them somewhat. This layer 3 is suppose to be via a cellular connection. That 2.5 will help with congestion. Without it...well it’s going to slow things down kinda especially since they are promising 4K resolution.

    Oh snap !!!

Sprint is coming back. The fourth-place national carrier (in our Fastest Mobile Networks tests) has made great strides in LTE speeds over the past year, jumping from an average of 19.09 to 26.33Mbps on Ookla's Speedtest Intelligence metrics. Depending on the average of att and Verizon for the quarter that puts sprint neck and neck with att and Verizon

if they only did this level of work last year. the level if network investment is right in line with what T-Mobile has been giving over the last few years. Sprint definitely would've been in a stronger position today and probably better than T-mobile. Better late than never. they are laying a good foundation in the event the merger is not approved or they pull out.

Another win for Sprint in my market El Paso ... Fastest average download speed @17.9mbps... passed TMO on network speeds..

Wowww looking at the speeds from the 1st half of the year and now, that's a huge jump in speeds.  This is the Sprint we all longed for when it comes to putting that all spectrum they have to use.

I agree, Sprint in my opinion is now a different company all together which we all know ... The new plans are now perfect I think.. with great features and decent pricing.so, they finally got that right..although risky, but Network vision is paying off sprint should now have the most up-to-date network at the base unit and antennas.. most carriers are still to this day having to go back to sites and update this so Sprint is ahead on that...I think we will see Sprint pass att ans Verizon in average speeds in the next 2Quarters..

That’ll be some ish if they did pass them up. According to that doc that was posted a few posts ago, Sprints average was 23.8. Wow the wonders of investing in the network lol. They’ve had a huge speed spike in such a short time. Whats crazy is still have PLENTY room to grow their speeds. However, I feel like T-Mobile is starting to hit their ceiling on average speeds.

I'm just saying I don't think legally T-Mobile has to uphold any of the stuff that they are currently saying... So maybe the first few years it will hold up and then TMobile decides to get rid of it all

True. I feel like the end goal here is that T-Mobile just wants Sprints 2.5. They’ll say what they need to to get their hands on it as soon as possible. Without it T-Mobile could possibly run the risk of being the slowest in the 5G world. The last thing they want is Sprint passing them with Speeds which at this rate and the way they’ve been rapidly doing upgrades to the towers is very possible.

Plus when it comes to these high band auctions, they’re  really going to have bring the big bags to compete against ATT and Verizon. Sprint is sitting pretty for 5G. Could they use the MMWAve? Yes but it’s no rush they need it.

    Its just my views.

i dont know how mergers work. but if it gets approved, what will happen to my business account?

I believe John said a while back that if the merger goes through that they’ll create “attractive” plans but they won’t force anyone off their current plan if they like it. Hopefully that applies to business accounts as well.

I think Sprint realizes, whether alone or not, that they can't be so cheap, that they hurt themselves.

Probably.  This $90 puts them in line with everyone else. From what I’ve seen on here, they’ve been having great momentum with the network so why not put in plans that can further help put cash into the network.

It's like they heard our complaints from a few days ago about Boost Mobile having more hotspot data than Sprint. I don't need that much hotspot data personally and I have a student discount for Amazon Prime so Unlimited Plus is perfect for me.

This plan could spark off with the other carriers. But this plan essentially covers all of your media needs. Also to top of off a monthly $20 Uber credit as well. It’s a pretty sweet deal. Now if we can work on these taxes and fees.

  11. Was at the Jay-Z, Beyonce concert at the Ohio Stadium. Granted I don't have Sprint anymore but one of my friends did. Her calls were failing and nothing loaded(My carrier T-mobile included...the service didn't try to put up a fight to load anything despite having a full LTE signal) and the concert didn't really start until 7:30pm. We were in the stadium and at our seats by 6:10 with the gates opening at 6pm so there wasn't many people seated. Once we left and got outside those concrete and steel walls, her service went back to normal. I don't see why OSU does not have contacts with these carriers to allow them to install network equipment in the stadium.

I thought I'd do the honors lol and whats crazy this is only the beginning.. this seems to be their first real big push towards improving the Network across the Nation

    Still need the merger ?

Honestly they have all the tools to really bring it with 5G hell even with 4G(we all know what happened there). They just lack  scale which is going to possibly be a problem for 5G and density.  If Sprint can get to together, I have no problem coming back for their 5G network cause I know they can outdo the competition and not have a crap ton of small cells on every other block cause of MmWave.

If the merger doesn't go through, I think it would be interesting to see Sprint and T-Mobile work on a network sharing agreement, or a collaborative build-out WITHOUT having to merge completely. Bell and Telus did it in Canada when they did their 3G build-out and were abandoning CDMA, and it's not uncommon with carriers in different parts of the world.

That’ll be awesome. Then at that point, they’ll need to compete on price or the things that come included with your plan outside of talk, text and data.

Also why is it that T-Mobile is the only carrier who hasn’t announced their initial 5G markets? They said they’ll have 30 in first half of 2019 but there’s no list provided. It’s just kinda odd only because they’re always vocal about things.

I don't think that would be a problem for TMO that why 2.5 would work better on their grid .. I think Neville said that in most markets Sprint isn't even within 50% of their network grid

I can probably agree with that. Sprint needs work in many cities. Which is what they are doing now but as a fallback in the case the merger falls through but to for better prep for 5G. This is really their chance to shine.

Don't quote me on this , but I think TMO spends a good chunk of money on the upcoming high band auction

That MMWAve is going to require them to place small cells pretty close together just like what Verizon is doing. Sprint on the other hand honestly just needs a good cell grind along with their small cells. Their 2.5 travels far enough. From a network perspective in my eyes, Sprint would have the cleaner looking network within cities and not all these small cells every direction you turn.
