  1. I don't think Verizon wants any 600MHz at all. Rather they're concerned about a growing spectrum gap between T-Mobile and themselves which I think is a fair critique.
T-Mobile has been very vocal about being interested in purchasing more spectrum in upcoming mid-band and mmWave auctions as well as leasing 600MHz in markets where they had very little. If I were Verizon I'd think it was unfair too considering T-Mobile already has a massive spectrum advantage over every other carrier in the U.S. by far.

Let’s get what you already have out there first.

  2. That simply isn't true by any stretch of the imagination.  Atlanta, Miami, New Orleans, Philly, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Cincinnati, Columbus, Louisville, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Seattle, Dallas, Kansas City, Charlotte ...there are many, many more examples all over the country of great legacy Sprint markets.  Every carrier struggles here and there but to say that band 41 wasn't well and widely deployed in many, many metros across the country is simply untrue. Facts are facts.

I can honestly say that in Columbus, I didn’t really have any issues with Sprint.

  3. I find it funny that all the T-Mobile fanboys are pressed over Sprints b41 all of a sudden and wanting to use it. But when it was used on Sprint, it was considered horrible spectrum and that T-Mobile was better positioned with spectrum. If T-Mobile isn’t using it then it’s no good. The same goes with DSS. Right now they’re trashing it but as soon as T-Mobile implements it, it’ll be the best thing since sliced pie.

  4. It really is b/c Sprint could have been that wireless carrier. Especially in the 5G realm. All SoftBank had to do was build out 2.5 nationally, participated in the 600mhz auction and upgrade the back haul.

I 100% agree. Everything this man had invested in had gone to shit and the. Looks to sell off shares. At this point I believe he doesn’t know what he’s doing. What Sprint really needed was someone who actually cared

  5. Interesting. I'm somewhat surprised they don't just move the magic box to B25 or B2 (on T-Mobile). I'm assuming this means they went to refarm the magic box earfcn, and they can't move magic boxes to the macro earfcn while it's relaying B41.

  6. Well appears in Columbus OH some things are happening with the network. My iPhone 11 was switching between T-Mobile bands and got these speeds.

When I did latch on b41 in places where I can easily hit 150+ down. I was now getting about 50 down.

I also saw that I was connected to B25 and got these speeds. I personally think it’s a glitch on the network screen:

Also, my phone is connected to my magic box but my phone is connected to b25. Not sure what’s going with that or my magic box is being phased out.

  7. Prepare for disappointment. These "uncarrier" events haven't been good for a while now. Bundling Netflix to family plans without raising costs and offering free international roaming were probably the best uncarrier moves. Everything else came with a catch.
My guess is that tomorrow T-Mobile is going to announce new n41 cities (or at least a roadmap to see which cities are next).

Oh I know based on their track record. I was saying this because this will be will be for the majority of us, the first special carrier announcement under T-Mobile.

  8. Exactly! oh well we cant change the past. At least T-mobile is executing Dan Hesse's vision with Layer Cake (Triband). Mr. Derrph, will you be buying the iphone 5g this year? I think I may hold off until next year.

That’s very true. What’s done is done.
I’m not sure yet either. I just paid off the last few hundred dollars of my 11 Max Pro. I’d have to see what T-Mobile is going to do with 2.5 here in Columbus OH first. All we have is lowband 5G as of late April. However, I am a sucker for the iPhone 4 body design and if the rumors hold true that the 2020 phones will resemble that then I MIGHT be tempted.

  9. Completely agree. What a colossal failure. Bigger than Forsee/Nextel in my opinion.

Honestly with the right dedication all around, Sprint would’ve had all eyes on them especially in the 5G space. We were already seeing that. Many outlets praised the 5G implementation done by Sprint and the matching speeds.

Let’s see how long the board keeps Son at the helm of the company. He’s making bad investments. That vision fund will soon be a bust at the rate he’s going.

  10. SoftBank could have turned Sprint into a successful wireless giant, or at least it could have been the majority shareholder had a merger occurred. Instead SoftBank chose to cheap out on everything for Sprint and let it languish and flounder while it dumped its financial resources/capital into Uber and WeWork.... and so here we are.
You deserve this Masa/Marcelo. You both deserve it.

  11. I know I survived the Network Vision era but this tower work currently going on feel like it’s way worse. As of the last 2 weeks my receptions is completely dropping and then cycles back after 10 seconds. If I have a “connection” with LTE it Times out. I thought re-activating my magic box will resolve things but it now only emits a low signal and my phone will connect to it and then reception drops completely out and then cycles back along with the data connect timing out. I’ll be glad when this over in my market.

  12. I’m sure they will shut off LTE on band 41 soon. Probably within 1-2 years. They have bands 2/12/25/66 and some of 71 to handle LTE traffic

I can’t wait. My b41 connect has been shot to hell over the last two weeks. Sadly my phone is holding onto that connection like no other. I’m going to have to dig out my magic box and hope it helps some.
