  1. Pretty simple, its clear the DOJ wants to keep four carriers.  Everyone knows that having three carriers will kill all competition in the wireless market.  Best thing for Son to do is take the "L" and sell Sprint to someone that is willing to put in the CAPEX and give Sprint a nudge in the right direction.

That’s very true. Sprint just needs a stronger backing that sees the vision and its assets. I was also thinking that by them spinning off Boost they would become #4 since they will still be using Sprints network and have a few million subs within itself.

  2. Yup, so on the network side it will be a successful launch.. but that’s about it .. most of the us won’t get to try it .. hopefully sprint does what Verizon did and send some of the CNET’s and some blogs out to test the networks. If not it will be a very quiet and unnoticed launch imo.. other than of course what sprint announces and that’s about it

I doubt it but they’ll be certainly making a video after they purchase a device. Sprint already made claims that their 5G coverage is going to broader in cities than that of Verizon so that within itself will draw attention from CNET. I really really hope this goes good for Sprint. I think it’ll bring much needed good press about their 5G network.

  3. With their spectrum (2.5) sprint could have the last laugh if they are serious and get away from their failing mentality. They could have a premium 5G network, but it would come at a cost to the consumer

That makes sense. It’s so sad because there’s beyond ALOT of potential with Sprint and the assets they have but there’s no one at the front of the company who is serious about letting Sprint excel. As long as there’s no one in charge who genuinely cares for Sprint the other carriers have nothing to worry about. Make no

Mistake, they all know the damage Sprint can do.

  4. "The proposed @TMobile @Sprint merger is vital to accelerating the deployment of a nationwide mobile #5G network, enabling the U.S. to take a leadership position in 5G."
Translation this government needs to approve this merger so I can the millions of dollars that I was promised then I would move back to Seattle where I used to reside during my Clearwire days.

I don’t see nor understand as to why the US needs to bet China is 5G. This wasn’t a issue when LTE launched. Verizon nor ATT are screaming this. Sounds like to me it’s more “we won’t be able to compete properly with Verizon or ATT alone in 5G.

Sprint between the two could actually do it (given a steady stream of capex). T-Mobile I think will be at a disadvantage. I know they have their 600 but realistically, will it really make an impact in 5G (speed etc) besides distance?

  5. The Democrats are calling them out on it.. Marcelo quoted a 25 billion investment needed .. id sure like to see a sprint network after a 25 billion dollar investment.. I’m sure it’s going to be much much better.

As they should. I’m sure the other carriers will spend that amount if not more. But I’m Sprints case, is that just for 5G deployment or 5G and coverage expansion?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Yup, and after that just optimization.. maybe a a few towers/small cells where needed and it should be a robust experience costing far less than what the competitors are doing

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh for sure. It’s really Sprints time to shine. Sadly we might not get to see that if the merger goes through.

  7. Ya, I think sprint isn’t really telling everyone the true story about it (based on wanting to get the merger approved), but their 5G will be more than just limited coverage areas ( according to Marcelo )

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I agree, they are in the best position when it comes to 5G. It’s really just getting that Massive MIMO up on towers and getting the backhaul together.

  8. Yes the prices are kinda steep but best believe Verizon is going to have a very good 5G network. I truly Believe that if Sprint had a stronger network, they’d charge the same but they are in no position to do so. When you have a good product, people don’t really have a issue with paying for it. Prices are going up across the the board periodt with 5G. New plans will be introduced with a higher price. Let’s just hope, that we don’t need to Change plans for 5G access and they will keep offering an add on to current plans and it’s not an initial thing until its coverage is more widespread

  9. https://www.telecompetitor.com/att-t-mobile-verizon-35-others-are-qualified-bidders-for-24-ghz-millimeter-wave-auction-102/
Not terribly surprising, but Sprint is sitting out the 24 GHz millimeter wave spectrum auction after also sitting out the 28 GHz auction.

Boy Sprint is really better big and putting their faith in their 2.5 OR they rather T-Mobile bid on with the impression the merger is going to happen.

I’m really impressed with the amount of coverage sprint is providing with their 5G. See this is the advantage Sprint has when it comes to 5G. Their spectrum is 5G ready and all the need to do is get Massive MIMO on these towers and backhaul. This could be really big for Sprint if the results from users are positive.

  11. I would have to agree with you. Because TMobile does lots of lots of marketing. And sometimes two results with the network don't me what the marketing parrots it out to be. I can tell you as a current T-Mobile user that they are lots of talk and minimal real world results. But yes you're right if they have money climacell site and make the improvements needed.

I’m not sure if it’s going on or not but there have been reports that when T-Mobile announces “expanded” coverage in new places that it’s just a panel of two added to the tower. So if you’re not in the direction of it, you’ll lose service.

  12. I thought one of the big things in the merger was to lower prices?
In their FCC filings, T-Mobile and Sprint don’t even pretend that the merger would lower prices. In fact, their own economic models show that prices would rise.

Hmmm interesting. I could see prices more in line with Verizon and AT&T...T-Mobile is already knocking on that door as it is now.

  13. Walking by the USDA today, I noticed a panel attached to the building, which I later determined to be a Verizon small cell.

Not exactly where I would mount an antenna...

You got to hand it to Verizon, they will mount wherever they can. Gotta keep that title of being the most reliable.

  14. T-Mobile won't have 5G on the 600MHz band until the summer with Qualcomm's 2nd 5G chipset (source: https://www.pcmag.com/news/365578/t-mobile-confirms-samsung-5g-phone)   To the best of my knowledge, all of T-Mobile's 28MM for 5G which can be used with the Samsung Galaxy 10 (or whatever) is located in Ohio covering most of the state using LMDS A Block 850+150+150 Mhz leaving Verizon with the paltry B Block with 75Mhz +75Mhz in Ohio*.  This does not include the unreleased results to the 28mm auction which is tied to the upcoming 24mm auction.

Sprint's Band 41- 5G is included with the 855 chipset thus the Samsung Galaxy 10 (or whatever).

You never know what lobbying or special fees/payments/etc occurred behind the scenes to insure what bands were included in their first 5G chipset.  AT&T mid-bands also missed.

*as these licenses currently stand.  In auction 101 for the 28mm, it is stated that both blocks will be 425Mhz each.  Auction 102 will have blocks A through G, with each block being 100Mhz, the first two and last five are contiguous spectrum.  Since the results of the auction will be released together, I assume they will be effectively treated the same by the carriers -- time will tell.  101 is county based while 102 is Partial Economic Area based (multi-county).

This auction, I can only image how much Verizon and AT&T are spending.

  15. Any divesture makes this merger pointless to me.. both companies are merging to become stronger to compete with att and Verizon not to become weaker in the process

It is pointless to have give up some of Sprints b25/26. I think for T-Mobile they don’t care because Sprints 2.5 is a MAJOR part of their 5G future. With what they(T-Mobile) has now, it’s going to take them only so far in the 5G world. Sprint on the other hand had limitless possibilities with their 2.5 and could eclipse T-Mobile in 5G and that’s something T-Mobile can’t have happen.

Sprint is not allowed to come back from the dead lol.

  16. The more this merger drags on the more I feel a way about it. Yes all mergers lead to some kind of job loss. But I feel like both Sprint and T-mobile will keep all or most jobs but then lay off a crap ton  after the network settles.  Outside of that with all the new submitted docs it seems like every other week, makes me think that both companies don't know their sole reason is for them to merge. It was 5G and now is to keep up with Verizon and AT&T.

The way things look now from a pricing perspective, the difference between them are a few dollars. Sprint still has a pricing edge in some ways.

  17. T-Mobile is [emoji90]. I hope the merger fails and sprint continues to upgrade and expand as they are now... sprint can stomp on the other carriers if they can keep up this pace.

Well for that to happen, Sprint needs some money for expansion AND to ease up on all these roaming agreements..especially the one with T-Mobile since their bigger network is poo.
