  1. I became a Sprint customer on June 4, 2010 with the launch of the HTC EVO 4G.  I came over from AT&T.  I had just moved to New Mexico earlier that year and had virtually no AT&T Service in my area.  Sprint had decent coverage, and I thought I better move to a "4G" device if I was changing providers and getting all new equipment.  The rest was history.

You know, we are coming up on the 10 Year Anniversary of  the HTC EVO 4G launch.  10 YEARS!!!  It really is what was the catalyst that caused S4GRU to come about.  If I had gone to Verizon, this site and all the past 10 years of 4G hunting never would have happened.  It was really a close decision.  I think the cost of adding a line for my then 13 year old son is what probably pushed me over the edge.  What's funny is I pay about the same now for 5 lines on T-Mobile what I paid for 3 lines on Sprint back in 2010.

Wow I never knew that the Evo 4G was the spark for the creation on S4GRU. I thank you for not going to Verizon! I’ve had sooo many memories of this site. I still have my Evo 4G that I got in college. Over the years I did switch away from Sprint a few times to see if the grass was greener being that Sprint has been the only carrier I’ve had since being on my parents plan in high school.

The other carriers (Verizon and att) did have better service at times but for me the price just wasn’t worth it to have service that was slightly faster. However, no matter what carrier I switched to, I kept my sprint account on the side just to keep up with things. As of yesterday I officially closed out the Verizon account after two years and ported my number back into sprint. I’m at the point where for the places I go, Sprint works just fine. Yes Verizon might be a little faster but it doesn’t justify the price. Hell I have the unlimited Premium plan for $65 per month (employee discount and Byod discount) thats a price you can’t beat with the amount of features you get.

  2. We'll see what they're offering this Fall. They said we could keep our plans/pricing for 3 years (5 in the case of CA apparently). I don't think they'd mandate a plan switch to upgrade devices. Even so, T-Mobile's plans may be better, especially with taxes/fees included.

That’s fair. I’d switch plans if they offer full HD streaming and They somehow work Tidal into the mix.

  3. If we weren't doing iPhone leases through Sprint, we'd be doing the iPhone Annual Upgrade Program. That being said, I hope they keep the lease program the way it is. I don't want to have to pay off the entire device and do a trade-in/sell-back to upgrade.

I’ll more in likely take the Apple upgrade route this year as well. I just don’t see T-Mobile letting Sprint customers upgrade through them and letting you keep your plan. Plus if they keep their current down payment model, then they can keep that ish.

  4. Our phones very  rarely connected well to our magic box when I lived with my ex in the old place though when they did our service went from "meh" to very good. Where I live now I get great service with Sprint on band 41 even deep inside my apartment. Never less than 100 down.  But I've lived here a year and haven't once felt the need to even plug in the magic box. He took the dog and I got this silly MB that I've never even felt the need to use in my new spot?  At least my dating apps load lickety split here on band 41! [emoji23]

Whenever I went to Atlanta I had nothing but good things to say about Sprint there.

He may have took the dog and left you with the MB but you now have a collectors item [emoji23]

  5. If that last sentence is correct then those of us with S20's will be losing access to n41 via Sprint pretty soon and getting n41 via T-Mobile with its (currently) smaller footprint. That sucks. At least we'll still have Band 41 LTE for the time being.

So now the question is, for those with older “5G” that gets this device offer will need to switch over to a T-Mobile plan.

  6. Odd change of events, my iPhone X seems to perform damn good on b25 in Columbus, OH. My V50 parks itself on B41 and is not as good. The download varies but the upload cannot even complete due to the configuration on the network. I personally don’t mind staying on b25 if I’m getting these kind of speeds. I reinstated the Sprint bands on my V50. I’ll just wait until whatever OTA gets pushed out to it to access T-Mobile.

  7. And that may be the thought.  But yesterday I was between Bremerton and Shelton, Washington where there is seamless Sprint service and very patchy Tmo service, and I wished they were doing reverse roaming.  See, I have been a Tmo customer since moving to Washington State 4 years ago.  But Sprint actually has better service here, all things considered.  They can pick and choose Sprint sites to allow Tmo roaming if they wanted.  Sprint did the opposite for years.  Especially the sites they are considering keeping, like the ones that densify coverage in the right areas or add coverage.
    Robert

That would be a great idea. Instead of just saying no reverse roaming for T-Mobile customers, allow it only in strong Sprint markets and in areas/ towers where T-Mobile lacks but Sprint is better in that same location.

  8. If T-Mobile-to-Sprint roaming isn't enabled (and by the looks of it, it won't be), T-Mobile users are going to get an awful network experience.
I agree especially if it's not a strong Sprint market. I think the decision to to have T-Mobile not roam on Sprint was done to ensure that they dont lose customers in the event tmo customers started to have a bad network experience if they happen to latch onto sprint.

  9. I also just noticed the only 5G phones available from Sprint right now are the S20 series.
I noticed that too. I just ordered the V50 the other day since it was down to $600. It has all the bands on T-Mobile but i doubt i'll be getting the low band 5G with it but will for sure see the mid band 5G on 2.5. Maybe the V50 is just phased out. I will say the data speeds are way better than what I get on my 11 Max Pro. 77df0ce28708233871b1f2f7cf45a36c.jpg

  10. Wow I cannot believe it, Sprint as we all know it is over. A end to a era. Looking back at it all, it was really a ride but a fun one at that in retrospect. We’ve definitely created a bond and community here. S4GRU was/still is one my favorite forums to be on. Even though we all will be under a new brand and stuff. I hope that this forum as we know it will not go away. I thank Sprint for the highs and lows but more so everyone who has participated on here for the past few years!
