I know $200 miilion was chump change in the grand scheme of Capital Expenditure costs, but that money could have prevented some of the layoffs Sprint saw at HQ.
The worst part about the Sprint+Tidal cross promotion was that it was a huge missed opportunity by Sprint. Sprint gave away 6 months free at one point to anyone who used the code "Sprint". And the Jay-Z album release promotion was even worse. I remember reading the T-Mobile Reddit and people were gloating about getting the album for free without being a Sprint customer. Considering T-Mobile locks down their T-Mobile Tuesday giveaways, this was a bit infuriating. It was a botched opportunity by Sprint to reward its loyal customers. Sprint buying up all those album copies was the only reason Jay-Z broke digital album sale records those first few weeks.
Just a huge SMH moment at Sprint.
Are you shocked the T-Mobile Reddit was going crazy about getting a free album? They love free handouts.

Honestly, Sprint’s Tidal investment was a waste of $200 Million with very limited upside. I don’t understand why they did this. There’s too much competition in Music steaming and Tidal isn’t even on the radar vs Apple Music, etc.
I see this as Sprint was getting on board with the low hanging fruit in the music streaming world. I have to wonder how many people kept Tidal after the 6 month trial. From the looks of things, not too many. The service has about 1 million subs. To this day, I still feel as though Tidal wrote so many people off with their press conference with all those millionaire artists on stage practically crying about they aren’t making the money they should from streaming services. Then they tried to clean it up saying Tidal is about the indie artist as well. If they would’ve kept the message of the indie artist, they would’ve have more subs to this day. Sprint please bring back Spotify they had a good thing with them.

More Tidal news that's not good news. Some serious accusations are being thrown. Sprint should have just kept their relationship with Spotify. why did that end anyways if anyone knows?

Wow Sprint is really moving in this market.

Marcelo just confirmed that Capex guidance will continue as planned. No cut backs due to merger.
Well that’s nice to hear. Working on Plan B in case A falls through. Let’s just hope that statement with still working on the network with the stated amount isn’t just bluff. I guess next quarter after this quarter is up we will see how much they’ve spent thus far and if they lower spending.

Son just wanted out. I keep hearing about debt, if Sprint has 34billion and vzw $120bil in debt what’s the problem? Sprint has the spectrum to get better whereas vzw can only buy more then deploy. My point is in comparison they all have about the same amount of debt in relation to the size of their companies. -Son just wanted out because it’s a long term investment not a quick turnaround in the American market like he thought.
I think Son wanted in the US market and got the long hanging fruit. I don’t think he did enough research into what he was buying into.

After this merger, do you think the new TMobile will keep the iPhone forever and Galaxy forever deals? Should we be looking to get an upgrade before this deal is finalized?
I think T-mobile has a iPhone forever like offer.galaxy? I'm not sure. Personally for me, starting this fall, I'll probably will start using apples upgrade program.

I happened to check my email and I got a email from Sprint concerning the merger. It just rehashes what has already been said with Marcelo’s signature. https://imgur.com/gallery/l1KMOb9

The stock price is tanking today on the fear that less than 40% of this merger getting approved by the DOJ.
ouch, 40% or less? Thats pretty much saying "give it up Deelishis, you look like a man" (flavor of love quote). All jokes aside, if its predicted to be that low then its going to be BAU. Sprint lacking scale and T-Mobile lacking resource for 5G.

I have sprint. Will I eventually be able to buy a one plus phone and use it on the new network? What happens to people with unlimited data plans on sprint?
Either we get to keep our plans or we’ll have to convert over to whatever plan that T-Mobile offers. However, there’s no reason for the new company not offer unlimited. They’ll have more spectrum than what they need.

Well I really hope it produces some type of tangible results in terms of the actual merger. Like I want to see a network that can keep up with Verizon let alone AT&T.
Hell it better. That I can agree on.

Wow!

T-Mobile
Thanks. I just keep seeing new tmo and just took it as “well is this the new name? It’s ugly and might as well call it Joggers instead lol”

Wait so the company is going to be called “New T-Mobile” or just T-Mobile?

I guess we can now see the true potential of 2.5 since we know that T-Mobile will get that spectrum out there on more towers. I wonder if we can keep our UF plans?

That would be good. New company, New era. I’m kind of excited but nervous at the same time.
I think everyone is. It would be nice if they did honor and let people keep their current plans. I just ported back my main number back into my existing Sprint account today from Verizon and I like my UF price point

It is looking like that. We will see soon enough
I think they should do away with both names. Some don’t want to be under the Sprint name or the T-Mobile name. I think creating a new name would usher in a new era for the combined companies.

Seems like it. I’m seeing many more speed tested hexes for T-Mobile vs Sprint in the Rootmetrics App.
Is this Map Layer updated as part of Rootmetrics drive testing?
It is like the hardcore TMO users hang onto how fast something is to validate their decision as to why they are on T-mobile.
The Map Layer? That I'm not sure of.

Looks like Massive MIMO sites are going up now!
Bam there we go! The Friday news dump. It’s just kinda hard to think there’s a possible merger if they are using money and putting up MM on their towers that could possible be shut off if that tower is redundant in the area to what T-Mobile has.

No one seems to be using Sensorly for Speed Tests in DC. Seems like a ghost town. I used it for a while, but now I’ve been mapping a bunch using the Rootmetrics App.
I am amazed at the huge Map difference between T-Mobile and Sprint on the “Fastest Speed Found” Map Layer in the Rootmetrics App.
What explains the difference? Does T-Mobile send out people to Speed Test? Do T-Mobile users Speed Test more frequently in the Rootmetrics App? I always thought that Legere didn’t like Rootmetrics.
From what I noticed, TMO subs well the ones who bleed magenta are constantly mashing away at the button on whatever speedtest app.

Verizon uses these same panels in my area at higher populated Venus's. I was told those are sector splits for Verizon .. each sector pointing/ a serving a different area.
That's for the bottom site .. middle looks like a TMO set up with band 4, 2,12 .. top I can't tell

The top is Sprint.
That tower is a cross the street from a mall. There’s a crap load of other things in the area including a IKEA and a Top Golf that’s going to open in the fall.

I’m not sure what carrier these belong to but my God. That’s some serious equipment sitting on the bottom level on the pole I passed in Columbus OH. The picture doesn’t do it any justice

wow that's not bad at all. They might be doing a cluster launch. I'm just glad to hear that Sprint is full steam ahead as if the merger wasn't on the table.
