  1. Robert, is there any chance West Michigan (Grand Rapids) will get started with the LTE rollout? Local store managers are telling customers 1Q. I was wondering if this could be verified or not, since West Michigan wasn't on the updated list.

It's under way. The first two sites are live. More and more will go live every week or two.

  2. Robert- Thank you for the fast response, I appreciate the the map. Looks like my neighborhood is just out side of the coverage area Jordan MN in Timberline Park.. In your opinion/experience, do you think the map shows it conserative and coverage is a bit more than displayed?

Sensorly shows crowd sourced data from users of the Sensorly app. It is far from exhaustive. There is much more coverage than what Sensorly members (which are largely S4GRU members) have plotted around Jordan so far.

  3. I see that your last post on Dec 26th showed that San Diego was at 5%. Is this current?

No. There have been updates since then. We are working on a new update today. If you become a S4GRU Sponsor, you can get access to maps showing which sites have work complete, and sites that are being worked on. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1195-information-about-s4gru-sponsorship-levels-and-how-to-become-a-sponsor/

  4. Any update on the roll out for Raleigh/Durham - I just upgraded to have an LTE device... Would love to see some decent speeds for once.

There are a few sites live in the RDU market. However, the start of deployment there seems like it is off to a slow start. I hope to see more progress soon.

  5. Robert, I notice a few discussion about smaller towns such as Northfield w/ roll out of LTE. I am wondering if Jordan MN is on that list as well? It's stuck between Mankato MN and Shakopee MN. I've been debating on purchasing the GS3.

There is already one LTE site live in Jordan, MN actually. You can check it out at Sensorly.com: http://sensorly.com/fullscreen/map/4G/US/USA/Sprint/lte_310sprint#q=jordan,minnesota

  6. So if they are on schedule, is it possible that we will see LTE signal shortly (within about a month or so?) in the downtown or suburb areas of PDX?

They are about 3 months behind schedule. But work is under way. You may see the first testing signals in the next few weeks around Portland. However, it will be very spotty at first. Once the very first sites go live, more and more will be added every week over a 6 month period.

  7. Phoenix is the capital, and largest city, of the U.S. state of Arizona, as well as the sixth most populous city in the United States of America, and is also the most populous state capital in the United States. Phoenix is home to 1,445,632 people according to the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau data

Sprint subcontractors are starting to pull permits now to start work in the Phoenix market. Permits for over 60 sites have been filed. S4GRU Sponsors can see maps of the sites where permitting has occurred here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2877-new-building-permits-for-phoenix-upgrades/ Work will be starting in Phoenix soon.

  8. The tower nearest my house (Landau and 30th. Ave.) as well as near interstate 10 at Date Palm in Cathedral City had new panels installed in December. There was also a crew from PWC installing cable along Date Palm and Landau. I took some photos but I'm not sure how to upload them. Do I need to put them on my own server?

You can upload them to your own server, or any third party that hosts images. Please post it in the market thread here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2182-network-visionlte-riversidesan-bernardino-market-inland-empire/page__st__40

    Thanks!

  9. Robert, Question for you if a tower is updated and has LTE why does the LTE 4G not cover as much as 3g does?Thank you as always

LTE has a more fragile airlink than 3G EVDO. Sprint 4G LTE on 1900MHz is more fragile at distances than it's 3G is on 1900MHz. Also, Verizon's LTE on 750MHz is more fragile at distances than it's 3G on 850MHz. In the most basic premise, the more data you cram into a slot of spectrum, the less it can handle it. Density of the network is key.

However, Sprint LTE is nowhere near fully deployed. In suburban and urban areas with full site density, there is more than sufficient overlapping coverage that there will not be many coverage issues. And where there will be, Sprint is rolling out small cells to fill in the gaps,

  10. Looks like there is some work going on in the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs area). I saw some new panels being installed on two towers in the last few weeks as well as fiber being laid. Hopefully we'll have NV soon!

Yes. This market deployment is under way. Let us know what you see, You can also keep members updated by discussing in the thread for this market here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2182-network-visionlte-riversidesan-bernardino-market-inland-empire/

  11. is there anyway of finding out how far along they are in my state?? still praying for a 4g signal

We have maps in our Sponsor section of S4GRU that shows all the sites that are signed off as complete each week. For more info about becoming a S4GRU Sponsor, go to this link: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1195-information-about-s4gru-sponsorship-levels-and-how-to-become-a-sponsor/

  12. Robert, there is some activity in the michigan area. Ive seen them out working on the towers, and have heard of other areas being worked on. Just no say in when they actually turn them on. Hopefully very soon, because the market here is falling and customers with this nextel switch are not taking it well at all.

If you could take some photos of work in progress, we can confirm. We keep hearing reports of work occurring in Michigan, but we have yet to see bona fide evidence. You can post the pics in this thread: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2262-network-visionlte-east-michigan-market-detroitflintann-arbortri-cities/page__st__160

    Thanks!

  13. I am in southern New Haven area, and travel throughout the whole city, Milford, West Haven. East Haven, North Haven, Brandford, etc. haven't seen anything regarding 4G service.. heck, one of the main corp Sprint store is in Orange Conn (southern New Haven county) and not even 4G there. you'd think if they were deploying LTE they would at least have coverage around Sprint stores first. maybe it helps boost sales when sale reps can show customers whats to come..if work has just started i doubt there will be any reasonable coverage until much later.. i am patiently waiting :)

Yes, work is just starting in this market. You probably will not see any evidence of work for a few weeks and the first LTE signals in a few months.

  14. Robert, I live in Davie, Florida zip code is 33328. It is a city on the outskirts of Fort Lauderdale. Basically it is South Florida. I was in a mall yesterday and missed a bunch of calls, they did not even register as a missed call. My brother called me this morning and said he called me like 10 times. My wife sent me picture messages that I never received. Do you know or have any information when the Davie 33328 area will be recieving LTE coverage for Sprint? I love Sprint, I think the customer service is awsome. The coverage lately is not so good and I am not even receiving calls or messages? This phone is also my business phone so missing calls is not an acceptable response to a client. Any information from you would be appreciated.

The area is an active Network Vision/LTE deployment area. This is probably contributing to the problems. They should be temporary. I would call Sprint and complain. They will be able to give you some info about what is going on specifically in your area and probably compensate you for your trouble on your bill. The silver lining in this is after the problems go away, you will be left with a far superior network than you've had.
