Inherent advantages of LTE?
S4GRU replied to Thomas L.'s topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
Its better than just Sprint's word. Sprint has spent millions on deployment plans and scheduling to bring LTE to every site with Network Vision upgrades. It is coming. Even to those remote and obscure sites out in the middle of a cornfield. When people complain about Sprint's past deployments, it almost always because of assumptions about deployment. Not any official or inside deployment info. Everyone assumed Sprint and Clearwire were taking WiMax nationwide, but Sprint never said that. Because they never actually planned to do that. However, Sprint says with LTE that they are going nationwide this time. And also we have the evidence if that and continually report on it. This is completely a different deployment. Not only unprecedented with Sprint. But actually, unprecedented with any carrier in America...ever. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner -
Why don't you guys try to get it back on track by stating something on topic? Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

There is so much variability site to site in Sprint carrier deployment that it becomes very difficult to make any broad sweeping statements. When we look at data about carrier deployment at any specific Sprint site and then look at the next one and the next one and the next one, there are few patterns to detect. Number of carriers is very dependent on localized cell and sector density. So even in the same neighborhood, you could have three carriers at one site, six at the next site and nine on the one after. I didn't realize how variable carrier deployment was until I seen the data myself. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

Scott's right. Almost every Sprint CDMA site in the country will get LTE on 1900MHz. Even the East Shore. There are already a couple of Network Vision sites complete on the East Shore. One near Salisbury. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner -

That last picture looks like NV cabinets like we have seen from other Samsung sites. So, it's coming soon. The cabinets usually are set six weeks or more in advance. But seeing conduit runs already coming from them is a good sign. Where is this location exactly, and I'll look it up for you. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner -

I have grossly underestimated how much time this business trip would take of each day this week. Whoa! I am really behind on emails, PM's and moderating the board. Everyone please be on your best behavior...LOL. Please keep anything you need from me to things I can answer in one sentence for the next few days. Appreciate your help. I have not seen or heard anything that leads me to believe the Note is coming to Sprint this summer. And if it doesn't happen this summer, then the Note will be too old. My guess is that Sprint will get a variant of the Note 2 based on the new GS-3 this Fall or early Winter. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

Sprint LTE Live Cities for June 1
S4GRU replied to FarmersMarket's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
El Paso is in the Sprint Albuquerque market and Midland/Odessa and Lubbock are in the Sprint West Texas market. Neither are in the first two rounds of Network Vision. There will be NOTHING happening in these markets in June. This is totally bogus! These markets will be waiting for a long time for NV/LTE. The design isn't even complete for these markets, let alone scheduling, planning and permitting. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner -
Sprint LTE May 2012 Schedule Maps
S4GRU replied to S4GRU's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
I think in this case it is just market size. For the most part only Primary WiMax markets are getting NV/LTE in 2012. Secondary markets that already have WiMax have the lowest priority it seems. Places like Las Vegas, Cincinnati, Columbus, Denver...and in your case, Hawaii. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner -

No. Nothing has been announced. I have seen references in internal docs to Sprint LTE devices roaming on SRA networks in the future when available. But no details. So based on that, Sprint must be having talks with SRA members. Robert via Kindle Fire using Forum Runner -

Rural iDEN Decommissiong and Network Vision
S4GRU replied to bluepoint951's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
I don't know of anyone who is in need of any significant iDEN equipment. I don't believe anyone is expanding their iDEN networks. It would likely only be useful in a maintenance/replacement situation. And I just don't know a whole lot about the iDEN network, honestly. Perhaps someone else can answer your question around here who is more knowledgable on the subject. Robert- 36 replies

This map basically shows the entire Native Sprint network. If you have 3G EVDO service now from a Native Sprint site, you will get LTE too. Some time before Spring 2014, depending on the market. Also, all Sprint affiliate areas covered by Shentel are supposed to get LTE too. We had one member post that he knows that Swiftel and Sprint are working out a deal. But that has not been announced. This is not officially known. Sprint has not divulged this info. If there is a market for the equipment, I'm sure they'll sell it. Robert- 36 replies

All: This week 5/21-5/25, I am on the road for work all week. And then when I get home Friday, its a holiday weekend and my Dad is up visiting from Florida. I should be pretty scarce until June 1st. I am taking my smartphone, Kindle Fire and laptop with me on the road, so I will respond and keep in touch this week as I can. But most likely I will only be around in the evenings while I am in my hotel room. I thank you all in advance for your understanding and patience with me the next 10 days or so. May you all have a blessed and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend. And take a moment to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. Blessings to you all.
