  1. Tallahassee is in Sprint's Panhandle market. Work will not begin in this market until some time in 2013. Final scheduling for 2013 markets will not be completed until later this Fall. Robert
  2. Sprint has the country broken down into 97 markets. Here is a market map: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/gallery/image/156-nationwide-sprint-market-map-medium/ Sprint is deploying LTE nationwide, market by market, while they are doing Network Vision upgrades in every market. So it is not as if Sprint is selecting smaller cities ahead of Phoenix. It's just that the smaller cities are located in much larger master markets that are being completed before Pheonix. Places like LA, Chicago, New York, Miami, etc. I would have preferred Phoenix to be one of the first markets, myself. I live in New Mexico and travel often to Phoenix. However, Phoenix deployment should begin in just a few more months. Some time this Winter. Robert
  3. We have had members confirm finding deployment work starting at several sites in the Charlotte area and up in Salisbury. Although it started a few weeks late, it is now under way. Robert
  4. We have had several members report LTE issues with the EVO LTE where they couldn't connect to LTE in places where another EVO LTE right next to it could. Several of them have had their EVO LTE's changed out and their problems went away. I would pursue Sprint and get them to switch out your EVO for you. It sounds like you have a defective device to me. Robert
  5. There are tons of advantages of Sprint LTE over WiMax. Here is my list in order Most Sprint LTE devices use battery the same in LTE mode as CDMA only mode, but all are better than WiMax device battery life Sprint LTE will penetrate buildings better and provide more uniform coverage Sprint LTE works better with a weaker signal. WiMax petered out around -85dBm RSSI, Sprint LTE peters out around -95dBm RSSI Handoffs to other LTE sites is so much better than WiMax did even in the best circumstances, and WiMax was not ever capable to seamlessly handoff to 3G, as the LTE network is designed to with eHRPD. Sprint LTE coverage does not end at the edge of the city, it will cover the entire Sprint market Sprint LTE is a lot faster I probably am missing a couple of things. But these are the key differences. WiMax is completely fine to wait on LTE. However, when you have good coverage of LTE in your area, it is definitely time to jump off WiMax. Everything is better on LTE in every way. Robert
  6. I'm starting to think November is not likely. However, I can see a December launch as still as possibility. Robert
  7. Now that you are a sponsor, you have access to our site maps. Thanks for supporting S4GRU. Robert
  8. We had a member report recently that the State has approved work to start in 10 communities in this market. So either work is starting very soon or just recently started. Robert
  9. There is no additional information available at this time beyond what is in the article for this market. Robert
  10. Read this thread: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2040-bars-lie-for-lte-signal-strength-how-to-determine-your-actual-lte-signal-strength/ You have a super weak LTE signal, and you just don't know it because the bars in your signal strength indicator are showing 1x, which is likely pretty strong. Everyone in Austin that has a super strong LTE signal are reporting high 20's and into the 30's Mbps DL speed. Robert
  11. "And it's a long day, waiting on LTE in Reseda. There's a cell tower, standing in the yard. And I have bad speeds, messing up my new iPhone. And I'm a bad boy, for not offloading on WiFi. Now I'm free!!! Free-falling! My data speeeeed...is free falling!!!" *sang like Tom Petty*
  12. No matter which wireless carrier, LTE performance is very signal strength dependent. Even AT&T. When you hear about these 30-50Mbps LTE download speeds, it is with a very strong signal near a site. Sprint LTE maxes out around 37.5Mbps download. You will occasionally hear about speeds greater than 37.5Mbps Sprint LTE speeds, but these are likely caused by error from the speed test software, as they exceed the theoretical maximum for a 5x5 LTE carrier. Robert
  13. There is no additional information available at this time beyond what is in the article for this market. The small cell innovations being pushed by Samsung and Alcatel Lucent have no impact on Network Vision/LTE deployment. All the sites in the market will be converted to Network Vision standards. However, after the deployment is completed, Sprint will be working with Samsung and AlcaLu to determine where additional capacity is needed. In these places small cells will be deployed to help supplement coverage and increase LTE capacity. Robert
  14. Sprint is deploying LTE on almost every one of its 38,000 sites. Only less than 100 sites in the country will not get LTE, and that is only because they cannot. Sprint's LTE deployment is completely different than the WiMax deployment. WiMax was deployed on Clearwire sites by Clearwire, completely separate from the Sprint network. This time, Sprint is rebuilding its entire network nationwide, every single site. And while they are there doing Network Vision upgrades, they are adding LTE capability. Sprint LTE will be deployed all over Fontana. And the coverage will be much better than WiMax ever was. Robert

  17. This posting is really old. In our new plan we have a 250 person chat limit. This is no longer an issue. Thanks! Robert
  18. Yup. But they will not be ready until early Summer. Going the low and slow method. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
