Sprint deal with Itson software for traffic managment, policy controls, mobile services

I don't see anything in these articles that seems to pressure Unlimited.  Sprint just recently reiterated the importance of Unlimited as a differentiator in the future.  I'm not concerned based on this.

and it looks like they will be adding more software to their android phones to interface with this system.  hopefully it comes off easy. ;)  hope it isnt similar to carrierIQ.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how people react to this software, as compared to the reaction to CarrierIQ and to all the other installed-by-default-and-not-removeable software that Sprint already installs on devices.  I have not problem with any of this software, but it will be interesting to see how others react.

Well, if you are one of those who want the continuation of "unlimited" data and subsidized devices, operator installed network management and device diagnostic software is what you get -- because the operator is then tasked with juggling "unlimited" data and ensuring that your device functions properly on its native network.  The operator cannot, for example, just tell a sub that he is on his own, like AT&T does with Robert and his Nexus 5 on a tiered data plan.

So, pick your poison carefully.

Sprint shouldn't use Unlimited as a brand. Period.

AJ already beat me to a lot of what needed to be said, but let's remember Sprint optimizing networks is still far better than the data monetization schemes of the Big Two.

    • The "invalid file format" error is coming from the map server and the no data to send error is from the app, so those are two separate issues. Could you share the files it exported, and share your database from the S21? Putting them in a shared Google Drive folder and DMing me the link is probably easiest, or whatever you prefer.
    • This site is now live as eNB 380787 and gNB 1877974. It was not live in Sept when I drove by the site, so this is a recent activation. Also the confusing nearby eNB 84647 appears to have been upgraded but the upgraded portions weren't live yet.
    • My S24 Ultra and my two S22s are uploading and working properly today, as another data point.
    • My hope is they can spot something in the data that was exported. I am going after all 4 carriers on a multitude of phones and Android versions. My S24 did work.  I have not checked another S24 or S22.  S21s failed which are on Android 14 as well. It should be noted I did not reboot after updates and some of the data was captured on the prior update. Data from some new Boost Mobile Dish (Echostar) sites in the Wheeling area did make it in. Was hoping for more SA data from the duo. Many of the phones are just LTE.
    • I was traveling for a couple of days.   Sunday evening, I upload from 3 phones.  A S-22 and two Moto 5G phones.  Everything looked ok.    How do we explain that?   One person has issues and another person does not.  All my phones have the latest update.
