Picture of Sprint's LTE footprint once NV rolled out

Recommended Posts

i thought that sprint was just going to take all of the sites from nextel, convert them to NV, and then have a strong competitive network...

No, Network Vision has nothing to do with conversion of iDEN only sites, though Sprint has already converted numerous "synergy" sites over the past six years. Most of the remaining iDEN only sites are redundant and will be decommissioned. Sprint does not require them to have a "strong, competitive network."

will we see any network improvements like in building penetration or coverage at all? i know sprint says yes but will it really happen?

Yes, there will be improved building penetration with voice service and LTE over 800mhz. The EVDO coverage will also improve and will increase in-building coverage by as much as 20%.

Sprint is installing 800 1x/voice this year in Network Vision deployments where iDEN clearing is complete. Sprint will start deploying 800 LTE in Mid 2013.
