Thanks.  And 3g data & voice should be improved in these areas right now?

If they have the upgraded backhaul in place then it should be blazing fast 1.0+ mbps. If they don't have upgraded backhaul then they're using the old connections which will be terrible as before. Regardless of backhaul voice service should be massively improved.

Which means LTE would suck on old connections as well I'm guessing? Last question - What's the average time from accepted to LTE deployment that you've seen?

They don't fire up LTE on old backhaul. They only fire up LTE on upgraded backhaul which can support fast speeds and are scalable (fiber / microwave / aav).

Usually a few days to a weeks or two for the sites that are ready right now and the rest that don't have the upgraded backhaul will trickle in one by one.

Everytime I'm around Target store in Rancho, I barely get any service. With the new upgrade will the service improve?

There is awful service in and around the Target shopping center. It should improve.

Bad news is it probably won't get that much better and probably will be a tad worse with LTE 1900.

Good news is northern california SMR 800 rebanding is fully complete. LTE 800 5x5 mhz has already started being deployed in the bay area which means our region will be coming up very shortly along with all those 8T8R B41 sites they're deploying and existing Clear dual mode wimax / tdd-lte sites.

Very exciting times coming at last!

I work at the FTB complex near Bradshaw and 50 (across from the Capital Christian Center).  Would the above chatter regarding Rancho help the cause here?  I believe there are two towers on the CCC building that would be awesome if they were switched on.  Any insights?

Part of the City of Sacramento and Arden Arcade cluster.

Your site will likely be fired up with the rest of the unincorporated territory (south sacramento / arden arcade / south north highlands and your area) and city of sacramento. A few weeks or a month away most likely.

Could he possibly get a little bleed over from some of the closer Rancho towers? He's right on the city limit there. I was able to get signal for a goodly ways yesterday when I was watching my signal check pings.

If the cell site serving you is not active then any signal you receive from further away sites will be a poor experience.

Exciting news but what map are you referring to?

I spoke to sprint today, *611, and the rep said downtown towers should be complete by September and then transmitting LTE 800 by late January. Does that jive with what is known by the sponsors?

Yep by our estimates.

The ultimatum on LTE 800 was laid down by Masayoshi Son earlier this year who made his point very clear by firing many of the netwok management and deployment executives and installing a new regime lead by John Saw. LTE 800 will be going on practically all available towers by the end of this year baring any local issues.

Not really. More like depressing.

Okay.

LTE 1900 and 2.5Ghz is fine and dandy but depending upon the coverage and penetration of LTE 800 will be the only reason I stay, or leave, sprint.

Does anyone have any experience with LTE 800 than can speak to its speeds and penetration in buildings?

You'll need to be asking the midwest folks and others in more mature markets but the consensus is generally that LTE 800 is really a huge improvement in terms of indoor and overall coverage.

    • Was in Red Hook again and I swear there are as many Link5G sites as there are reserved small cells from franchisees in the entire neighborhood. It seemed like every other street I turned down had one installed. Hopefully carriers will start hopping on them soon. Seems like a lot of effort to go through for no one to use them. — — — — — T-Mobile converted the Sprint site on top of NYU Langone Brooklyn in Sunset Park. I first mapped one sector of it back in November 2023 but I thought it was a small cell so I never pinned it but I ran into another sector today which caught me off guard. I'm unable to find a permit for the conversion so it's definitely a surprise. There's another T-Mobile site 1 block away that T-Mobile initially installed back in 2019 so I'm kinda surprised they're keeping both considering the Sprint conversion is on a much taller building and coule potentially provide much better coverage to the entire area.
    • Still not seeing any ULS postings for pending T-Mobile UScellular merger in Dane county Wisconsin.
    • Came across another Crown Castle Solutions multi-tenant oDAS node in Brooklyn. Located at 40.7002286, -73.9612666. Nothing on T-Mobile or AT&T so I'm assuming these are all Verizon nodes that Crown Castle is anticipating another carrier will hop on down the line.
