lilotimz
hit me with a number if its above like consistent 120Kbps i can be happy with that if they roll out 1x800 first < 150kbps.
markjcc
< 150kbps. Good enough what would come first NV 3G or 1X800?
gnoj
< 150kbps. The 1x being deployed on SMR (and PCS too, I believe) is 1x Advanced, not 1xRTT. 1xA can provide 4x the voice capacity OR 3x the data speed (up to 500kbps), or some smaller in-between mixed improvement. While I would prefer if they focused on improving voice coverage and capacity rather than data speed, I'm not sure if that's how they're configuring it. In any case, one's handset would need to support 1xA to take advantage of the improved coverage and/or speed. Good enough what would come first NV 3G or 1X800? I would consider 1x more of a "2G transitional" (2.5G) technology than actual 3G like UMTS or Ev-DO, but I'm also a stickler for referring to WiMax, HSPA+, and LTE r8/9 as 3G transitional technologies, or even more to the point- "faux-G" (with only WiMAX-A and LTE-A r10+ being true 4G). The whole "G" thing just seems to be for marketing anyway. But I digress... if by NV 3G you are referring to Ev-DO on PCS, then 3G will come first. 1x800 only gets installed on upgraded NV sites, and those must first pass inspection as "3G ready", meaning the new panels and RRU's have been installed, but the fiber backhaul to support the full 2 Mbps on 3G let alone LTE has not necessarily been hooked up yet. Whether 1x800 or LTE comes next depends on the availability of that backhaul, site spacing, permitting, and other factors.
