Network Vision/LTE - Tampa Market

i drove by there yesterday because things were lighting up in Tampa so I decided to take a look. There was a SUV there looked like a Dodge Durango with the gate open.

That belongs to a guy that works for Clear Channel, they are installing a low power FM. The tower crew that has been there over the past few days has been our crew working on our equipment. A subcontractor came out and pulled fiber from the telco to the sprint equipment. It was is now waiting to be connected to the equipment, i would assume based on testing ISP's that it should be active within 30 days.

Hell Mike that better be done by the time I get off work lol. That tower has been sitting without backhaul already for over a month

Passed by the Bearss site yesterday, along 275. It seems like the 4G coverage drops off rather quickly, on the northeast side of the tower. Within a mile or so of passing that tower (entering the long stretch between Bearss and I-75/SR56), I was demoted to 3G service again. Has anyone else noticed this, and is there another tower nearby, that's more suited to cover this section?

I mapped walsingham almost to the beach. Seems like it might be coming from the ulmerton and 119th area.

James, it looks there is another tower live there..hard to tell. I may go take a look after work today.

I have found it difficult to stay on 4G there as well. I suspect this to be due to another 3G tower being right after the Livingston Rd overpass. Though, I could reaquire (force) 4G by toggling airplane mode. Which isn't something most people would do unless they were mapping 4G, etc. Heck, by toggling airplane mode I was able to get 4G from the much more distant LandOLakes tower in the same general area, before the Bears tower got 4G...

I mapped lte in del Rio yesterday but it is not showing up I'll map it again today because I work right there. Senorly is filling up so and for the first time in picked up LTE in my bed room and living room without having to go on my porch. I take back all the bad things I have said about sprint they are doing this so fast

Where is Del Rio at?

I would like to know roughly when 4G will be available for Waters & Dale Mabry (33614) area??????

We don't have access to that kind of information on this site. All we can tell you is that work is ongoing in your area, and won't stop until all towers have been upgraded to Network Vision equipment, which means improved 3G and 4G LTE. We have maps that show where the currently completed towers are, and any towers that we know have work going on. This information is available in our Sponsor section if you would be interested.

I would suggest you donate what you can to gain access to our maps. That said, I checked that site last week and it looks like all the panels are up. They may be waiting on other things such as an inspection or more equipment. It could be online in an hour or a month.

I'm guessing it will be up in the next 7 days.

Ok, well I hoped to take a longer motorcycle ride today, but not long after I was out I saw the weather was starting to become sub-standard (suck). Anyway, I rode from CR-672 up 39 until I got to 60. I started to head to County Line Rd. when I saw that I was going to have to hit some rain. Dont' get me wrong, I'll ride in rain, but prefer to do it only when I have to :) Anyway, I hit a few Sensorly blips out there. I turned around and rode 60 west to Lithia Pinecrest, then headed south down to Boyette, and back to Riverview. Good news from the trip is I saw two more towers with Sprint RRUs and panels that I had not seen before. One was at 60 and Dover and that one was easy to spot. The other was on Lithia Pinecrest near Valrico Rd. So, it wasn't a total loss... hope to see them lit up soon!

(Update - waiting for Sensorly to update, but I think I found a live one!) Yes I did... the one at Lithia Pinecrest and Valrico Rd. is live. My catches went on and off as I was using the LTE Discovery app... too busy with the motorcycle to mess with the phone :))

I suspected Lithia Pinecrest near Lynx Paw Trail as the source of new LTE in the area, but your site jives with my findings.

I still suspect Lithia Pinecrest/Lynx Paw, only because I get LTE as far as Boyette and Dorman. And that's on an iPhone, so you know that the tower must be relatively close.

    • A heavy n41 overlay as an acquisition condition would be a win for customers, and eventually a win for T-Mobile as that might be enough to preclude VZW/AT&T adding C-Band for FWA due to spreading the market too thinly (which means T-Mobile would just have local WISPs/wireline ISPs as competition). USCC spacing (which is likely for contiguous 700 MHz LTE coverage in rural areas) isn't going to be enough for contiguous n41 anyway, and I doubt they'll densify enough to get there.
    • Boost Infinite with a rainbow SIM (you can get it SIM-only) is the cheapest way, at $25/mo, to my knowledge; the cheaper Boost Mobile plans don't run on Dish native. Check Phonescoop for n70 support on a given phone; the Moto G 5G from last year may be the cheapest unlocked phone with n70 though data speeds aren't as good as something with an X70 or better modem.
    • Continuing the USCC discussion, if T-Mobile does a full equipment swap at all of USCC's sites, which they probably will for vendor consistency, and if they include 2.5 on all of those sites, which they probably will as they definitely have economies of scale on the base stations, that'll represent a massive capacity increase in those areas over what USCC had, and maybe a coverage increase since n71 will get deployed everywhere and B71 will get deployed any time T-Mobile has at least 25x25, and maybe where they have 20x20. Assuming this deal goes through (I'm betting it does), I figure I'll see contiguous coverage in the area of southern IL where I was attempting to roam on USCC the last time I was there, though it might be late next year before that switchover happens.
    • Forgot to post this, but a few weeks ago I got to visit these small cells myself! They're spread around Grant park and the surrounding areas, but unfortunately none of the mmwave cells made it outside of the parks along the lake into the rest of downtown. I did spot some n41 small cells around downtown, but they seemed to be older deployments limited to 100mhz and performed poorly.
    • What is the cheapest way to try Dish's wireless network?  Over the past year I've seen them add their equipment to just about every cell site here, I'm assuming just go through Boost's website?  What phones are Dish native?
