FYI for those who have a EVO, the new update makes connecting to LTE worst again. I'm not sure if its not scanning as fast anymore or what, but I had to toggle to get LTE several times.

Looks like there might be a new tower online. Just picked up LTE in my house off of mullis city way and gunn hwy. either that or they REALLY adjusted the down tilt on the one in circus part. I doubt it could ever make it this far.

Thinking it might be the tower on Waters and Dale Mabry that we reported RUUs on a few weeks ago. I've got an appointment at 1 but ill try and figure it out on my way there or back.

It stayed connected, but in order for it to connect to LTE I had to put it in airplane mode. I think before it was every 5 seconds it scanned, it might be 5 minutes now.

Don't want to tun this into a EVO thread but the timing change might be for the best. Its seems my phone right now in deployment stage gets confused when it is between coverages

I stopped by the Lynn site off of Gunn hwy to see if that's where the LTE signal at my house was coming from. There was a unmarked service truck there. I spoke to one of the guys, he said all the ground work was done and another team is going to come soon to put the panels up.

I'll pass through the Waters/Dale Mabry area around 5:30. If nobody else has reported anything by then, I'll let you know what I find.

 

Thanks to (another) crash on the Howard Frankland this afternoon, I diverted to the Gandy Bridge. Picked up 4G on the Tampa side of Gandy, and up Dale Mabry, past Britton Plaza (to about El Prado). According to the LTE Discovery app, I was getting an occasional "blip" of LTE, as I continued north, via Himes. Nothing north of Kennedy.

 

Sensorly was also running the whole time, except for the airplane mode cycles prompted by LTE Discovery.

 

Oh, and regarding LTE Discovery: This morning's update seems to have fixed the GPS reporting. The coordinates list looks MUCH better now.

The thing I dislike about using LTE discovery with Sensorly is when people leave it on to continue to cycle after it finds a LTE signal. It makes it look like moorse code on Sensorly and you can't tell if its a new site or an exiting one because it doesn't have enough time to map before airplane mode comes back on. If our market had only a couple towers you would see its a new hit, but with all the towers coming online here, it can be any exiting tower making a mark on Sensorly.

If I'm watching the screen, I'll disable it when I see that I'm in 4G territory, and restart when I lose it. But if I'm unable to watch what's happening, I figure it's better to mark at least some of the coverage, instead of none at all. If I blaze a broken trail, someone else will know where to go, to fill in the holes.

Nope... I was mapping earlier in Spring Hill, on my way to Brooksville. I mapped down the Suncoast on the way back. Then made a loop around Citrus Park, as there were spots not on the map there. I made a quick post while driving. Sorry for any confusion...

 

Also, I'll choose a route to get somewhere that isn't mapped if at all possible. I work all over the state at times & I map whenever I can...

I'm at the waters/dale mabry site right now. No LTE broadcasting here. Definitely has 3 sprint LTE panels up, 1 on each side.

I go to church literally right across the street on Dale Mabry and Waters and I always check that tower. I will keep a lookout.

Just wait until the next update. Got something planned that will remedy that and everyone will like

I think I might have. That, along with a bunch if random streets in the area. I also have been mapping randomly around the tower at Dale Mabry & Van Dyke and the tower in Wesley Chapel when I have time. The maps on Sensorly should start to reflect all of this soon...

I took pictures of that tower several weeks ago, soon after New Years. At the time, it had the 4G panels & RRUs. There was also someone onsite working on or inspecting the tower.

Hello all. I mapped in SR52 @ I75 this morning. I was getting unusually fast download speeds and was able to go way East from there. Now that I look at my uploaded Sensorly Data, there appears to be a new 4G LTE tower just East of the SR52/I75 intersection...

Well I look forward to the update as I don't have a choice but to use cycling when mapping and I'm on the motorcycle (for obvious reasons).

Cool. Sensorly has been taking a long time to update lately. Some zoom levels haven't updated in five days like south Tampa. I wonder if there is a cache on our phones that stores the maps that can be deleted so the info is fresh?
