. . . does the GS3 have a LTE only mode?. . .

I don't know if this works on the GS3, but on my Photon Q, I go into Phone, dial *#*#4636#*#* and that takes me to a "Testing" page. I go into "Phone Information," scroll towards the bottom, and click on the dropdown menu. There, I found many connection choices, including an option for "LTE only."

"LTE only" means exactly that, so make sure to memorize and/or write down that *#*#4636#*#* code.

Edit/disclaimer: Don't shoot me if this messes up your phone.

. . . I mapped some more stuff near the air base.

Nice job!

I went around there this morning around 2 am, but the tower wasn't turned on. So, I mapped signals spewing from the tower by the Target -- the LTE on the Turnpike almost reached 152 street!

So remember how the other day I picked up 4G at the Univ. of Miami metrorail station but it went away before I could reach for Sensorly?

Well it happened today again and I had time to open Sensorly, however, a couple seconds passed and it again faded away.

I managed to at least put a dot on Sensorly... Lol

Hadn't checked in on this site in a few weeks, and wow, a lot's happened.

I'm looking forward to testing a few of these spots tonight. I work in the Gables and am not getting anything here, but will be passing a couple of the areas mentioned on my way home. I live near 75 and the turnpike. Sensorly shows no reports there, but it's between the Miami Gardens and Hialeah Gardens areas that have been reported, so we'll see.

BTW, I have the EVO LTE, and see the reports of having to toggle the airplane mode to have the phone find it. Does toggling just the mobile network off/on have the same effect?

I mapped this today...

Though I am not sure what tower I was connected to. I visited the tower on 168 st and 117 ave and i wasn't getting a strong signal. I went over to the other side of the zoo left side of the picture 160st and 137 ave has another tower, and nope nothing strong there either..

I am in LTE only mode so my signal goes as low as -135 i know i would've been kicked into 3g if i had it enabled.

Yes I did drive into the zoo parking lot. Man was it dead there. 1 row of cars.

Beyond -120dBm, it probably will be completely unusable if you ran a speed test. Maybe a little trickle on the download, but upload would definitely be zero as your device radio is not strong enough to overcome a signal at -120dBm RSRP. Great mapping. Thanks!

it was only a few blocks at -135 then it went back below -120 I am just wondering which towers are live. I would just to visit more of them LOL

It looks like to me it is right off US 1 across from the Southland Mall, just to the NW of the mall site. Directly across the street from the Publix.

Yea there's a target next to the tower. If I am getting signal from that tower, it's crazy range. I might have hope to have LTE in my house when the two towers on US1 168 st and 117 ave and 160 ST go live with lte.

That would be sweet.

It would be sweeter later in the future when all that nextel building penetrating frequency is put to lte or lte-a use, and with the new handset that comes with it. =D

This thread has been unusually dead...

Last 2 weekly updates we have seen 4 new sites added each week. Anyone wanna guess how many we will have this Sunday?

My guess we will have 5-8 in florida. Maybe 2 more in miami and 1 more in boynton. Maybe we will see some in jacksonville tampa an ft myers. I hope to see one in boca raton atleast but i have my doubts on that
