Due to some of the growth pains we are experiencing the past few days, I have sent a bulk e-mail out to our members. I am reposting here for those members who have blocked emails, so everyone has an opportunity to see it. Thanks,

Hello! I wanted to send out an e-mail to all our S4GRU members. We have experienced a lot of growth at S4GRU over the past month, and especially the past 5 days. I want to take an opportunity to explain S4GRU to a lot of the new members and address a couple of concerns regarding negative comments.

 

S4GRU is a site by Sprint Wireless Enthusiasts for Sprint Wireless Enthusiasts. We provide a lot of educational content about wireless networks, and most obviously, the Sprint network and Network Vision. We are not a typical Sprint site. We are not affiliated with Sprint Nextel in any way.

 

We have a core mission at S4GRU, "To provide a forum for discussion and education about wireless spectrum, networks, and Sprint Network Vision, in particular, in an online community that is mature, intelligent, and free from uncritical negativity."

 

Some of our new members have not been posting in the spirit of our mission. We have a thread with posting guidelines that you can refer to here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1197-s4gru-posting-guidelines-aka-the-rulez/

 

Our moderators are going to be enforcing the guidelines pretty stringently in our forums and on our article comments. We are not a Sprint complaint board. We encourage you to contact Sprint with your complaints directly through their many customer service channels. We are not equipped with the knowledge, expertise or patience to deal with your complaints and customer service issues. Overtly negative comments, comments directed at Sprint and posts with no purpose but to rant will be deleted and possible actions against your membership may be taken. Note that no refunds are given to donations.

 

We welcome all the new members to S4GRU. We hope we provide a home for you where you can freely and intelligently discuss the Sprint network and Network Vision deployment news. However, we completely understand if S4GRU doesn't meet your needs and you would like to go somewhere else to rant about Sprint. We will not be offended by your departure.

 

Comments that discuss negative aspects about the Sprint network need to have a point, be explained as personal observations and without dramatic conclusions and hyperbole. I thank you in advance for your understanding.

 

I am leaving for vacation this week. I will be unable to respond to many of the comments, PM's and emails I normally do. S4GRU will largely be handled by our dedicated all volunteer staff. You can see a list of current staff here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1250-s4gru-staff/

 

I look forward to seeing S4GRU continue to thrive within the parameters of our core mission and look forward to seeing the improvements in the Sprint network through the Network Vision program over the next two years. S4GRU plans to be along for the ride and continuing to discuss all the twists and turns with our thousands of members.

I've actually cleaned up this thread and removed some of the content. I do not mean to piss anyone off or alienate any members, but this thread was linked on Twitter. It's kind of a PSA. I hope you all understand.
