Oops, typo on my part. I meant as postpaid. I have that prepaid plan now.

Call first or go to the AT&T corporate store nearest you. Ask for the stand alone iPad plan for $20 a month with unlimited data. It was originally designed to be an add on to single line phone plans but is simply usable with only an IMEI and a credit check. I just used the IMEI of the iPad they had in the store. If this does not work Best Buy may have this option. If you also like, Jim over at LTEfix knows a guy that can help you out.

The mobley option is now unattainable, the unlimited RV plan is toasted, and the new connected car modem plan is like 30 or 40 bucks stand alone. This is the way to go if you do not have post paid service already and If you do, well I believe you can just add an iPad line like this.

So with my Spectrum internet outage tonight (getting to be a regular weekly occurrence) it got me thinking about adding a hotspot as WAN backup to my home router. I know I'll need to get a new router as all I have currently is a basic router/AP setup. My cable modem is separate from my router, so no issues with switching routers. What I'd like to do is have a router setup to use my Spectrum connection as primary, and failover to a hot spot that will likely be connected via ethernet to a 2nd WAN port. I haven't had time to do much research yet, but does anybody have a setup similar to this? I haven't even researched hotspots or hotspot plans yet. Ideally I want the hotspot to still be able to be mobile so I can take it with me when I travel, then plug it back into my router when I'm home.

This is your easiest, most affordable, off the shelf and mobile setup.

I understand, that's why I was asking what your NEED was for the consistently high upload.  You must be doing something with 40 mbits upload on a mobile device...certainly you just arent running speed / latency tests all day?

Lots of streamers, camgirls, gamers and news reporter types require a consistent upload to acquire max stats and venmo creds.

ow have they been handling the FirstNet upgrades on those?

lol they aren't. They have been like this for 2 years now, my mono pole got band 2 slapped on and they are using one rrh for two sectors; they just upgraded like 6 sites along the main tourist drag and called it tony the tiger.

If they are 70% done with FirstNet, then surrounding areas better be at 150%.

This site went live this week, less than a month after being installed. All bands appear to be active other than B5 since it's now being used for NR here. They already have it meshed well with the surrounding macro sites. I'm noticing on these new sites they seem to be strictly B12 and B66, no MFBI for B4 and B17 phones.

Are you still seeing 3G from these sites, and what bandwidth and frequency are they using?

I have one Sprint line that I use for fixed internet from a Mobile Citizen reseller, but am stuck with an extremely awful Coolpad Surf (you can't switch devices), it works in some other android devices when I have it set to LTE only with the right settings, so I'd like to build a device that supports multi-carrier aggregation and maybe even upload carrier aggregation on band 41.

You can switch devices. Just call Sprint Business until you get a rep that will do it. I did it like 3 years ago with a reseller line. I switched from a netgear hotspot to the 6100D router, if you need something off the shelf get the 5G hub or the CradlePoint CBA850. The cradle point will take a lot of different radios, you don't have to by their proprietary versions that are just upmarked and rebranded Sierra Wireless, Telit LTE cards.

If you want to build your own you can do a few things, if you need examples from the group here I will go first,

I use a custom built Mediatek H721 board dual m.2, dual mPCIe, dual sim, 4xGb Lan with an Quectel EM20G Cat. 20 LTE-A Pro 4x4 MiMo radio as main, and a Quectel EM12G Cat 12 LTE-A 2x2 MiMo radio as as load balance/failover. I have 2 mPCEi WiFi 3x3 MiMo radios in it, both on 5GHz. T-Mobile as main, AT&T as spillover. This runs a unique version of Rooter firmware.

The coax from the radios goes 2x MHF4 to SMA Female 5">SMA Male to 7/16 DIN male 2.8'> 1x Kathrein -19dB 1.7-2.7GHz 5' tall tower antenna. The main one is a really big antenna.

The other two antenna plans go x MHF4 to SMA Female>SMA Male to N Male 5'> WiFIX -15 dB 1.7-2.7GHz
This is three antenna, all dual port or Xpol. 2 for radio one at 4x4 MiMo and 1 for radio two at 2x2.

This build is super versatile. The EM20g does not have a public release yet, so yeah. All I can say is it is amazing. I get Bands 2/4/5/66 on T-Mobile for download and bands 2/5 for Upload. It lacks band 71 in the sample I obtained, but 7x carrier aggregation so whatever. The EM12-G is really nice as well, decently priced and has all of Sprint's bands and 3x aggregation down x 2x up.

My other build is a Cradlepoint CBA850 router. These are nice if you do not like to tinker much, proprietary software, but if you want modern updates it is software as a service now. I plugged a Telit LM960 Cat. 18 4x4 MiMo radio into it, changed one setting and it showed up as their branded and overpriced version. You can also do this with Sierra Wireless LTE cards like models EM(M.2) or MC(mPCIe) 7455, EM7565 and EM7511. The Telit card I use with AT&T, I have used this card with Sprint, but it just roamed on to T-Mobile, because Sprint's network is rough in our area.

I also have the basic girl T-Mobile home internet box and a few other off the shelf solutions and smaller builds floating around.

If you really just want a weekend project a raspberry pi or ZBT WE826-T router works, with a USB sled hauling an LTE radio plugged into some cheapo omnis. About 120 bucks and it would probably beat the coolpad any day.

Do you know where I can find a list of bands that THEORETICALLY can support upload carrier aggregation? I don't know why it seems SO DIFFICULT to find that list - Thank you!

    LoL he just gonna say no or band 41. Instead of sending you to some clunky FCC web interface here is a list of some FCC certified FDD and TDD combos for domestic;

    and international certified use.

Any FCC links to smartphone device(s) (not tablet / PCIe chips) with said combinations certified?

Great question. I will look! I can grab the 960 off the roof and go get some screens on a modernized site with ATT aggregation on upload.

I also have a cat20 m.2 chip to test as well with AT&T. A bit smaller form factor. Either way it will be coming to phones and is already active on networks. I get 2+5 upload on the cat 20 with T-Mobile now.

What about the email from Masa saying he'd pay off all the debts? Apparently that's not the case or he was going to do some under the table dirty stuff.

Since then and now, many of his largest investments have soured quite a bit. He is still doing well in many areas in Asia, but after blowing through all those Saudi petrodollars in a year he is having a hard time finding more gas stations to invest in what appears to be his version of hookers and blow two point 0. He may not want to pay them anymore, or he may sell some more Yahoo Japan or Alibaba stock to cash out and take them private.

You never know what foreign billionaires will do next, let alone the ones we have here. Charlie Ergen made a website about this whole thing beginning with the Sprint sale; lamenting foreign money absorbing domestic companies. Now he is taking the stand for another group of billionaires that will all work for Masa. It's a clown world.

  10. Aayyyy Team UDP. If you guys are using a cradlepoint router, but want to just use a plain old sierra wireless card and not their proprietary version of the EXACT S A M E LTE CARD, there is a real simple fix.

There is an at!command for that!

Want your 75$ ebay MC7455 to show up as a nice expensive MCLP300(CP version and model number)?

Dial into your card via your favorite at! terminal.

Make sure you plug in the boss command, at!ENTERCND="A710"

    Then . . ..

    Wait for it . . .

    At!usbproduct="MC7455-CP"

reboot that thing and enjoy your now CradlePoint qualified Sierra Wireless card.

Don't pay someone to do this when it is just a command.

Have a great week frens and stay free out there! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

So my Novatel hotspot has been running my home HSI for the last year plus and been very serviceable.  However, it's getting long in the tooth and ready for replacement (needed reboots, stability not consistent).

Any recommendations on a good Sprint hotspot I can buy, off contact to replace my existing device? I don't want a new line of service or contact, just replace the device.

Ideally, I'd like something that supports CA and I can still get with a warranty of some sort.

Build your own or pick up the HTC 5G hub.

    No absolutely not.

Yes they absolutely do make combos on other devices though.

Rarely do we see FDD UL CA certified which is definitely not in use and is usually something obscure like B5+B5.

    From the Telit LM960 AT! command guide page 253/256 with the AT&T firmware equipped;

    2ULCA: 2A-12A, 2A-5A, 4A-12A, 5B

Pretty sure those are all FDD bands sir. This is the SDx20 which is pretty common now in many handsets and routers. There is a minimum one of these in every police cruiser in my county on Firstnet.

This is just on the first batch model. I expect the further United States certified model A18 to incorporate band 14/71 in the upload CA combos as well now that firmware is available for all carriers. The Five Gee capable FN980 will also allow band 14 HPUE with the newest amplifier.

Those speeds are so great. Man, I remember back in 2015 all of us fantasizing about how awesome this would be while simultaneously lamenting that it probably wouldn't happen until like 2020 because Sprint. Here we are.

Glad to see someone finally "flipped the switch" on this amazing software and you were able to enjoy it and get great samples user @Terrell352. This is what Denver needed to keep speeds up. Let's hope it spreads on the network quickly!
