  1. Robert. can you confirm if towers DA73XC063 or DA73XC041 are LTE complete yet?
  2. Yeah, I noticed the Sprint map now shows almost all of east Collin County, Tx with LTE coverage. The changes would indicate a recent expansion from the previous map. Robert does not show the towers near Lake Lavon completed. They were scheduled for August completion. My wife's Iphone 5 is arriving soon so I hope to help map out what the truth is.
  3. I really loved the HTC Evo LTE but then I remembered "the early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese" and I waited. I guess I'll get the GS3 now. Sigh....
  4. My wife and daughters have used TEP several times over the last 3 years. Of course, we all had Palm Pres.
  5. When the Evo LTE first came out, there were a number of reviews that said HTC's multitasking implementation slowed the phone down. I believe they said the phone would reload a webpage if you switched to another app and then returned to the first one. Some thought it was an overly aggressive memory management issue. I've used WebOS for the last 3 years but LTE means it's time to move on
  6. Do we have any opinions of the EVO LTE's multitasking experience from all of you new owners? I think I prefer the EVO LTE but I'm concerned about that and the LTE connection issues some have talked about.
  7. Robert had previously said this area of Collin County, Texas was scheduled for July/August. So, actually it's a little ahead of that timing. My 3G ping times have gone down some and 3G speeds are rock steady in the 1.3/1.4 mbps range. I'm in a rural area of the county east of Hwy75. It's now time to use that upgrade I've been holding onto and pick an LTE phone. Which one Hmmmmm....?
  8. I check the Sprint coverage map a couple of times a day (sad I know) and it just turned orange (LTE) all over Allen, Mckinney, Fairview and points east.BlackAfrica, were you able to do a speedtest?
  9. No problem. Nobody likes to be misunderstood. Thanks for replying. This site reminds me of when you think you have a good idea and the next thing you know you've got a tiger by the tail. I'm aware of the implications the results of his tests will have and I have no doubt it will be picked up by other sites (no pressure Robert ). The test result's value are important to others besides me and the integrity and accuracy of the tests will no doubt be questioned by the mfg and users of every phone not in the lead. I've seen the videos demonstrating features and read and reread specs. I still can't make a choice. Robert's test may have the info I need to know which is the best for my semi-rural situation. I'm eager to hear results but, of course, I want Robert to take his time, fit it into his schedule and be thorough. I doubt any other site will attempt such a challenging review.
  10. I truly appreciate Robert's efforts on behalf of those who come to this website to stay informed. i have no idea the reason for his devotion to others, but I hope he derives some satisfaction from those he's helped. I'm sure he appreciates your staunch defense of his time. Robert had previously said he would be doing a radio comparison on these phones and I was just asking for a timeline if available. Perhaps I should have added a so as not to seem too demanding. Oh, and let me thank you for your prodigious contributions to the site as well. I've enjoyed reading your posts also (well, until just recently.) Devin
  11. Robert, do you have an anticipated date yet for your radio comparison? I'm waiting for Sprint to turn on LTE in DFW and your data on the EVO and GSIII and then I hope to know which phone is for me. I live in a fringe coverage area and radio performance is of top importance to me. Thanks in advance.
  12. Thanks for the great review Rick. I share your opinion of the Sierra Wireless modems. I've had 3 Overdrives, 3 USB250s, and 3 Overdrive Pros in 2 years. All returned for a variety of reasons. I'm glad I've had Sprint insurance on them but it's still been a bit of inconvenience to return them each time. It sounds like they've improved the latest edition. Would you be able to test the cradle to see if, when you're in a marginal area just on the edge of Wimax service (like me), it will boost your signal enough to get Wimax reception? What was the cost of the cradle? Again, thanks for the great review.
  13. " I am planning an article after I get my GS3 where I do some radio performance comparisons of the GS3, EVO LTE, GS2, GNex and EVO 3D. I may even add the OG EVO to the mix." That's great. It's exactly what I need to decide between the GS3 and EVO LTE. I live in a semi rural area with spotty Sprint coverage. I can drop calls from one side of the room to the other. No high speed internet so no Air Rave help. I'm concerned with Samsung's radio rep and the radio specs of the Evo LTE. I'm hoping for the best while waiting for your comparsion.
  14. I love YouMail. It does what you ask for and a lot more. Highly recommended. I've used it on WebOS for a long time and it's the first app I'll get on Android.

    bad data signal

I looked at a Evo 4g LTE at the Sprint store locally and compared speed tests with my almost 3 year old Palm Pre. The Evo averaged about 150 kbps down and the Pre 450 kbps. I didn't think too much about it because I used the Speedtest.net app for the Evo and a website test site on the Pre. Apples and oranges I thought, now, I wonder.
  16. I stopped by my Sprint store near D/FW and looked at the new Evo today. Very nice build quality. I've been upgrade eligible for over a year and a half and I think I'm going to get the Evo LTE, but I'll wait for the announcement of Galaxy S III just to be sure. The screen is great. I watched a couple of movie previews that looked awesome. They had all the accessories in store ready to sell.
  17. Robert, I live in Collin County just east of Mckinney/Fairview near Lavon Lake. Wimax ends about 200 yards from my property. 3G has "improved" in the last few months to 600kbps-2mbps. ATT & Verizon have a tower on County Road 324 nearby. Any good Sprint LTE news for a hopeful long time Sprint customer? Thanks
  18. Robert, will there be an update soon for the D/FW market? Thanks for all the info.
  19. Additional sites are going live every day. This is just a snapshot in time. We will update the map every week or so. Thanks, Robert
  20. The whole map didn't render at first. I see the entire area now. Wow, Fort Worth got the love! I hope they have more planned.
