  1. So I got mine from Sprint. Should I get it from Google and then return this one?

If you want the 32gb version. So far the 16gb version is identical to the 16gb version from Google play. Also depends if you used an upgrade or bought it flat out. In a situation where I was able to upgrade, I would buy an Iphone 5s and sell it factory sealed with the discount and then buy a model from Google play. As for out right, I believe the Google play model is a little be cheaper.

EDIT. Google play has the 16gb for 349.99 and the 32gb for 399.99. If you bought it full price from Sprint for 399.99 you are better off saving 50 bucks or getting the additional 16gb for about the same price (tax difference and shipping).

  2. Here is a minor list of changes I have noticed from playing with it a little (I am no expert at these writes like some of the members here).

    -Blinkfeed can be turned off.

-There are additional quick settings in the notification drag down when you go to modify the list (the order of individual settings can also be changed).

-The UI for the widgets on the lock screen are a little different (I can't remember how they were exactly prior to the update).

-The notification bar on top is transparent like on the N5 and all icons are white like the clock, battery indicator, etc.

-Hangouts is integrated into and switching to the HTC messaging app or third party messaging apps is the same process as the N5.

-There is a "Do not disturb" quick setting that can be added in the notification drop down that can also be set for a certain time limit and added exceptions.

Again, this is a quick little update, if I have left any please feel free to add or let me know I can add it in. Hope this helps, thanks guys.

  3. Updated my one to 4.4.2. I must say I am quite happy with the subtle changes. Fixes the few complaints I had that led me to the Nexus 5. If only the one was triband...may be my next device will be the next HTC if they continue their current course of business.

  4. I've been pretty impressed with Sprint recently too. I went to Laguna Beach today and a second tower in the downtown area just got 4g which made the signal and the speed a lot better than a couple weeks ago.

My bro lives in new port beach and it seems like they just keep missing the cite nearest to his pad haha. Go figure! Other than that coverage has definitely been getting a lot better in OC. Heck, during the winter break Sprint upgraded the site on my college campus which helps a lot because there are dead wifi zones outside but strong when inside. Can't wait for the Spark update for the N5 :P

  5. I thought I read they both used a nano SIM.

    edit:

    Crap. They are different.

So how do I get a micro SIM from Sprint?

Either call them for them to mail you one. Best bet is walking into a corporate store and just let them know you ordered your nexus from the play store, they should have sim cards set aside for them. That's how it went down in Socal when I activated mine.

P.S. Call before making the trip. Some stores don't have their staff trained at all and are completely clueless about the situation.

  6. Sorry if this was already said. I don't think there is a specific way to se where the phone was purchased. That being said, the only thing I can think of is Sprint only loads imei's from their inventory and Google's into their system to be accepted.

  7. I'm using ART on my N5 and it takes a day of heavy use, SIM-swapping and iffy signals in some areas to kill the battery. Normally now I can hit 36+ hours on a charge, but away from home I tend to use my phone more. Other than ART I haven't done any battery life optimizations.

Side note, and this is a cros-post, I can detect band 41 LTE (marked as CLEAR) on my phone when I go to the network selection screen with a T-Mobile SIM (I'm using the $30 100 minute plan), as well as something from MCC-MNC 311-870 with no carrier name. Anyone know what the latter is? I can't connect to either with my TMo SIM, and switching to Sprint doesn't help, but at least I can tell where I'd be able to get Spark speeds if my phone had the firmware update or whatever required to connect to the darned towers.

I'm using ART also and I get about 12 hours of heavy use. Not playing games, mainly web browsing. I usually keep have Wi-Fi off unless there isn't LTE where I am at.

  8. Calling out definitely works on wifi... it's the calling in (from a number that you've never called) that seems to be spotty on sprint.  I'm guessing it is impossible on cellular only since there is no data connection when the phone is ringing... but presumably on wifi should work (although i've not seen it).

Ahh. Didn't catch that part of the convo. I don't have experience since I only use about 20 min a month.

  9. Watched them install Lte antennas in Anaheim on Walnut st    finally lit up at speeds to 15m . But now cant receive or make voice calls. Called sprint several times after a friend stopped by and wondered if I change #s. So now  I received full bars  for data at the house ( I had WIFI anyway) but had to install their airwave to make or receive calls and cant stray to far or calls drop.  Sept cant  come fast enough CYA Sprint

Nice, two comments and one is a complaint ending with "CYA Sprint". Anyways, have you tried updating your PRL? Since your mini profile has an iphone try turning it off for 10 sec. Then hold the main front button and turn it on, keep holding the button until it boots all the way to the home screen.

  10. We don't allow sales from our forums without Administrator approval. Otherwise our moderators are directed to treat it as spam. Typically, if you want to use S4GRU to sell something, you need to offer a portion of the proceeds to the site. For instance, some of the app developers that frequently use S4GRU are some of the biggest financial supporters of our site.Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

  11. Yeah then I definitely have a problem with mines cause my N5 is nowhere as white as my One.

Did you put the settings at the same level?

Ok guys I finally got my Nexus 5 in the mail today and I activated it.. The problem I am having now is that Sprint is not giving me my MSL number so I can turn on bands 26 and 41. They said that they can't release the info for lines still under contract, even if I did buy the phone outright. Any ideas?

Just call customer service and tell them you are an app developer and you need the msl. Someone in this thread recommended it and worked for me. Store reps shouldn't have an issue releasing it either.

  12. Thank you!!!

    -Luis

Okay, so I compared my HTC One with the Nexus 5 screens and they are pretty much identical minus the status bar being different and the on screen home/back/recent apps.

P.S. picture was taken with my nexus 10, not the best with lighting focus. Both displays were set at the highest brightness levels. Hope this helps.

I can send an email of the picture. The upload isn't that clear.

  13. How couldn't you notice that before lol?  It looks wayyyy too off.

Anyways, how long have you had yours?  Any fact to the statement that the glue will dry in a certain amount of time?

Ive had since 2 days before thanksgiving.  I also have a black wallpaper right now so that may have taken it away
