  1. That surprised me too. If you had asked, I would have even said that southern OC never had a lick of wimax. I also remember checking the clear website a couple months ago and it didn't show wimax in many areas. Did sprint get busy after buying the rest of clear or did they just drink the kool-aid because I want some of that.

For me personally Wimax was in the areas I was usually at. However, there were a lot of wholes and in building was aweful being on jusr 2600. My max download speed I got at home was 11megs on wimax.

  2. You may be suffering ibez issues. Seems more probable since you have a triband phone that is having problems and a non triband phone that is not.

What do you mean ibez issues? How do you know if you are in an ibez area?

  3. For being geeks, most Best Buy employees are clueless about technology.

    Hence it being priceless! haha

I am still waiting for mine also 11/26. Two days before Thanksgiving which tells me I won't see it until the following Monday at the earliest...

  4. I honestly do not think it will, just because the device is unlocked and there is no specific 4G branding on it.

Every device except the N5 and iPhone will likely get the Spark icon.

That's what I thought too as the gsm LTE icons do not appear to be present

I think another indication it won't have the Spark icon is the current nexus LTE is above the bars where as other devices have the 4G with up and down arrows separately from the bars.

    Just saying.

  5. Very impressive.  They have certainly made the N5 a very flexible device.

Except where it counts. No Verizon =P haha jk, it would be impressive if it supposed them also. They could call it "The first Major US Phone - For All Major US Carriers"

I'm sure this has been answered, but is there an activation fee for the n5 if I purchased it off from Google Play?

No, just make sure when you activate it you say "I want to swap phones on my line." Someone mentioned they got a fee before. I just went from my HTC One to my EVO LTE and then back to the One, no charges.

  6. so even though it is official and maps are up has anyone actually come across band 41 signal?

I know some have gotten signal in LA markets. I expect to connect to B41 in OC, but I am waiting for my N5 order. I wouldn't expect coverage to be as wide spread as what listed on the Sprint coverage maps. Gotta remember NV is in progress and it is B41. In the G2 thread someone posted getting around 50-60 megs

  7. I wonder if the Spark icon will be universal or dependent on the particular brand handset you have. The LTE/4G icon is different depending on Sense/TouchWiz/iOS look and version. Is this specifically a Sprint made icon or do the manufacturers put their particular finishing touch on it? I can't see Apple letting just any icon adorn their precious task bar..

You know apple won't change anything to show any differences. Sprint will do anything and everything for Apple.

  8. I looked. To bad one cannot comment on reviews or else I would have

Oh for sure! I would have to. Sprint should use the similar review method like amazon's.

texts actually go through lte now

I did not know that. I thought texts were along the same lines and Volte.

  9. I have been paying closer attention to when my phone goes into signal search cycles.  It seems to be a lot worse when I am on wifi.  It also seems like an sms can trigger a cycle.  When I disable wifi, the constant cycles stop.  Any one else see this behavior?

We understand the sms part. Since the Nexus 5 has a single antenna, it is connected to LTE by default and when you get call/sms the device drops its data connection and goes to 1x. One the call/sms is complete it goes back to data. I believe either Robert or AJ mentioned earlier in this thread, all this happens nearly instantly. I would assume when going back to data it has to search and connect all over again.

I know it is along these lives, if anyone knows otherwise please fill in the gaps I left out.

  10. Omg... The icon is animated? I would have been fine if that icon was just a static image in the status bar, but animated? That's going to be annoying.

I am hoping that Nexus 5's purchased through Google Play don't get that icon, hopefully it is only Sprint branded devices and none of the nexus 5's since the updates will be coming from Google.

  11. Have any of you seen the ONE review for the Nexus 5 on Sprint.com? The person gave it a 3 out of 5. 2 people found the review helpful while 29 found it unhelpful haha. The reviewer and 2 others don't know about S4GRU and the issues regarding tri-band while the other 29 are either programmers or S4GRU members!

  12. You are selling it???  The HTC One is probably the pinnacle of Android handset design, maybe even of all handset design for the foreseeable future.  Mine will be "parked in the garage" soon, but it is going nowhere.  It is a museum piece.

    AJ

Wow. I never heard AJ talk anything up this much before! I must not be reading enough of his posts lol. Damn it is a great phone, but I am tight on cash and ordered a nexus 5. I went back to my rooted evolte
