  1. After thinking about it, I don't want to leave iOS. I don't want to give up iMessage. I've got a 32GB black version being delivered on Monday and a SIM coming on Tuesday. I'd be willing to part with them at my cost to a forum member if anyone is interested. If this is not an appropriate post, please delete, mods.

You should eBay it or craigslist it for more and donate half of the profit to charity or s4gru :P just as long as you break even.

  2. Hey guys I just thought of something. How do you think the hotspot will work since the Nexus 5 straight from Google will not have the Sprint hotspot app. Do you think it will work similar to the nexus 4 on T-Mobile without the hotspot add on and need to add the profile change thingy in chrome to mask it?

  3. "Launched" means that Sprint will send out a press release tomorrow stating that LTE is available in Santa Ana and Anaheim, and the coverage will be added to the coverage maps. You'll also be able to call in trouble tickets on LTE, something you haven't been able to do at this point.

"Launched" does not mean that the network is complete, or that you should expect LTE everywhere. Work will continue on the market for many more months until it is complete.

Sprint launches an area when the LTE coverage reaches about 40% of the population.

Yea I know launched means only around 40%. It seems like when they first launched LA at 40% it had a lot better coverage than Anaheim.

  4. Apps cannot show the location of the tower you are connected to because they do not broadcast their location! Usually, they broadcast a point offset several blocks, or even miles from the actual site. We don't know why this is done, but most markets you cannot rely on these apps to find cell sites, you need S4GRU's maps.

Anaheim and Santa Ana are being launched tomorrow. So not all of the OC market.

What do you mean when you say "launched"? I am in Anaheim a lot and it is really spotty. Just yesterday nothing would load on 3G when I was right next to Disneyland! I Anaheim my phone can only make calls and send texts unless connected to WiFi.

  5. I wonder why Google hasn't announced anything. Everywhere I read there are people like us saying "Take my money!". I just want Google to have my money and complete my Nexus 5,7(2012), and 10(2012) line up! Anyone want to buy a perfect condition non-root HTC One?

  6. Anyone else notice that the Network Vision/LTE Deployment Running List has been updated showing that OC is launched as of 10/31/13?

I really hope this is true, but they really need to speed up deployment in Irvine and south.. The NV sites complete maps look really spotty down hear for even 3G complete much less LTE.

You aren't kidding about SOUTH haha. Northern seems to be pretty good, but where from Anaheim on Southern is super spotty with weak connections at best.

  7. I am having a problem finding the primary tower that appears to serve me/the Aliso Viejo neighborhoods.

Apps are saying that the tower is here:

When I noticed that I didn't see this particular tower on the S4GRU map that shows all towers, I went on a hunt and when I got there I only saw this:

Does anyone know a definitive way to find out tower I am connected to so I can get cross reference that you to the NV complete maps?

Also, does ehrpd mean I am connected to an upgraded tower?

    Thanks!!!

I have had luck finding them by just using ##debug#. Granted I did that before I knew about signalcheck or became a sponsor.

  8. I totally understand what you're saying and don't disagree that what you're saying may be a possibility, but there is no "CDMA verison". There's only a single device in this case aka D820. If there were two varieties, one GSM & one CDMA, then sure, but this is different. Here's to hoping lol

There isn't necessarily a "file". As mentioned earlier in this thread. For CDMA, all devices are preloaded in the system, they just aren't attached to a subscriber. Since the device is preloaded this also allows devices to be marked as lost or stolen while changes to say an older device. The stolen is still blacked out. I understand that there is one model that includes all the bands, but say Google does sell the ones to be active at Sprint the consumer would still have to specify which carrier they want because Google will need to ship a device with the HEX preloaded in Sprint's data base. I am hoping Google busts an Apple to sell to all carriers.

  9. That is probably the price if you buy it through a carrier like the Nexus 4 on T-Mobile. However, this will not be the price through Google. Remember how for a split second the Nexus 5 (16gb) did appear on the Play Store and it had a $349 price. But through Google will probably be for GSM carriers only?

That's what I'm afraid of. The Galaxy Nexus was only available on GSM through Google while the CDMA versions were only available through their carriers at an increased price.

  10. Don't go looking for any of those 22, 500 Sprint G2's that got stolen in Indiana. You might as well say those are nothing but door knobs now. Truck got jacked carrying the phones.

Most of the parts can still be used to fix g2's with usable esn's, not to mention other carrier variants depending out different the internals are.

  11. I've noticed a lot of AT&T trucks in the Aliso Viejo area recently and 4g starting to pick up in the area. Is AT&T in charge of the backhaul in our area? I also noticed one of their trucks near the basil one exit so hopefully that one goes 4G soon too. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

I get the feeling at&t and Sprint share a lot of sites being the eldest of the carriers.

  12. Can you imagine if throughout the whole event it was just focused on the improvements of the Play Store and near the end....the keynote speaker says..."but wait there is just ...one more thing" and then shows the Device section of the Play store that shows the Nexus 5 and Nexus 10 available for purchase.  Boy that would be like stealing a page from the Apple playbook.

Apple might take them to court for using their method to reveal new devices. No body wants that.

  13. I want to wake up tomorrow morning and it is officially announced by Google that they are the only sellers of the Nexus 5 and it is available for Sprint and is tri-band, 32gb, 3000mAh battery for 349.99-399.99.

I doubt the battery but that is just what I am hoping lol.

    Joseph-out!
