  1. [ name=digiblur" post="312403" timestamp="1398711616]I just told you how to know.

Well true but it couldn't just be any triband phone as my n5 obviously isn't yet spark enabled. So in order to establish an effective baseline, it would have to be another n5 in the same location. My local Sprint store has no live demo of an N5 as I've already tried that. No one I know nor live with nor work with has a Sprint N5 either. Hence, my dilemma.

  2. Still bet your phone is bad. I would see about going to a store to compare to another triband phone. Or find someone that has one.

I just wish there were a way to definitively know so I would know whether to reach out to Google for a replacement phone or just simply wait for the issues to resolve themselves.

  3. I don't keep track of the Atlanta market so that's something I can't really comment on. Is it possible they're doing some sort of tower upgrade in your area? Maybe they accidentally screwed something up. You could see if its csfb/ecsfb issues by forcing your n5 into LTE only mode in the places you're having issues. If your phone connects while in LTE only mode but not LTE (recommended) or global then it's ecsfb/csfb.

I know how to put it in LTE (recommend) but I'm not familiar with LTE only. I don't see that option or is it enabled via other means. It's currently in LTE (recommended) and has been all along.
  4. Have you confirmed it isn't the phone? Still find it hard to believe that band 25 LTE is hard to find in your area.

Hey digi...no b25 LTE is everywhere here. Has been for about 18 months. Zero issues on the gs4 but it was a single band LTE phone..so no eCSFB issues. This n5 can't get LTE anywhere my gs4 did except in rare instances for 3 or 4 minutes at a time.

  5. [quoall as name=kojitsari" post="312361" timestamp="1398706388]Ecsfb/csfb is related to tower/network issues, so the spark update won't fix it.

Central Atlanta supposedly doesn't have any eCSFB issues at all as they were upgraded months ago. So I just really wanna know if it's just my phone or these eCSFB issues...which has essentially made my triband lte phone a 3G phone of yesteryear.

  6. They can't help you. All you can do is wait.

So what you are suggesting is that I don't have a defective nexus 5 and that the spark update will fix the issues that are destroying my life...er...am experiencing?
  7. both .15 and .17 tested roughly the same dB for me.

You won't notice a big difference between the two in terms of reception.

The difference is eCSFB issues impact .15 but allow you to connect to band 41 while .17 doesn't have the eCSFB issues.  People seem to have better luck connecting to band 41 on .15.

Is there a way to know if my local towers have eCSFB enabled?
  8. Having issues here with Spark bands enabled. Anywhere I suspect TDE I drop to 3G until I leave the area and reboot. Toggling airplane mode doesn't bring LTE back.

Yeah toggling airplane mode for me usually results in a total lack of service for at least 2 to as many as 5 minutes. I feel like smashing this phone into the pavement.
  9. I still maintain you have a faulty device. There should be no CSFB issues in downtown Atalanta.

You may very well be correct. But the technicians at the store near my house have zero interest in looking into it. I think i pissed them off by knowing more about Sprint's network than they do....thanks to s4gru!!
  10. CSFB is an issue for upgraded towers, not old ones.

I am almost certain you're seeing eCSFB issues. How long have you experienced this issue?

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Ah...OK. Wow I hope you're correct. That would mean that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, never mind how distant. But I'm sooooooo extremely frustrated because I went from a great 4g phone (galaxy s4) to what FEELS LIKE a 3g phone. I can't with this!! Oh...and I've experienced these issues since I bought this phone one month ago.

  11. There might be CSFB issues in your area, which is why the N5 won't connect. If you are on B25 there won't be anything extra to indicate that.

My understanding of eCSFB issues was that it only applied to non NV upgraded 3g towers. Thankfully those don't exist anywhere around here and so I'm inclined to believe that it has nothing to do with eCSFB issues. I took my phone to Sprint and they were about to close and had zero interest in actually having the tech look at it. I was pissed. And not in the British way
  12. Signal check should tell you the band by adding B41 or B26 after the sprint designation.

OK thanks. And I'm amused right now because I'm on 19th street in midtown Atlanta.. an area with wall to wall outdoor LTE coverage..and my N5 is stuck in 3G. Next time I can force it to latch onto LTE I will see what band I'm on. Will it mention b25 or no? You said it would indicate bands 26 and 41 but will it also say b25 where applicable?
  13. So please don't attack me for being new to some of this but I got my MSL from Sprint today (they were way sketched out that i asked for it) so that I could manually enable bands 26 and 41 on my phone. I also have signal check pro installed on my phone. How do I know which band I'm connected to via signal check pro or some other means? And..as I've mentioned before.. my N5 has a VERY hard time finding an LTE signal in areas with excellent LTE coverage so my encounters with it are a bit fleeting. But...still..I would like to know.

  14. The only explanation is a bad phone. A staff member has an N5 in Atlanta and it works perfectly.

This is very frustrating to hear. Do you think you could pm me and get me in contact with this person? I'd like to discuss this further and explore my options. I don't think anyone at sprint will understand what the true problem is as their front line force is vastly unaware. They'll think I'm nuts lol.
  15. Oh I'm a sponsor. Premier in fact. But this entire city is very much finished with respect to 3G and b25 LTE. I'm just blown away because everyone talks up this phone's RF performance and my experience runs quite contrary to popular experience

  16. You have trouble staying connected with an N5? That's a new one. I don't think I've heard anyone. Anyone. Complain about connectivity issues.

    Sent from my Nexus 5

Dude, it's completely maddening. Once in a while I'll get a fleeting flash of LTE but as I said in another post, my 3G speeds are pretty f-ing Gucci. And..yes..I just had to say that. I do live in Atlanta after all!
  17. To be clear...will this update squash the LTE connectivity issues as well? I'm in a market that is nearly totally 3G NV and LTE 1900 complete so I don't get my phone's inability to maintain an LTE connection. I'm extremely frustrated and am hoping the Spark update ends all this.
