  1. I called Sprints international department and the guy there unlocked it from their side in a minute. Super easy. Sent from my HTC One M8 using Tapatalk.
  2. I got my M8 unlocked and put in a SIM while in Austria. After a few reboots, I got it working in 3G where it means I get about 4mbit downloads. Anyway, periodically my data connection drops, so I toggle airplane mode. Here's question number one: I need to enter a PIN for the SIM each time I do that. This PIN is needed to enable the SIM and is not something I set in settings. Is there an option of removing that prompt? Martin Sent from my HTC One M8 using Tapatalk.
  3. Others that had this problem exchanged their phone, so you might as well do a factory reset. Sorry that reactivation isn't helping you. My phone got into that state on three or four occasions that were all fixed with reactivation when I first got it, but I haven't had to do that for a while. Sent from my HTC One M8 using Tapatalk.
  4. My phone was beck to normal right after completing this step. Sent from my HTC One M8 using Tapatalk.
  5. Try to rerun self activation. See earlier in this thread for the steps. Phone sometimes gets into a bad state, but that clears things up. Martin Sent from my HTC One M8 using Tapatalk.
  6. I got one of these from Amazon. Works great once you update the firmware and pair it. It behaves like wireless hdmi. NETGEAR Push2TV Wireless Display HDMI Adapter with Miracast http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00904JILO/ref=redir_mdp_mobile?ref_=pe_385040_30332190_TE_M3T1_ST1_dp_1 Martin Sent from my HTC One M8 using Tapatalk.
  7. Have you tried running self activation again to see if that fixes it? It's not a bad radio, it's that firmware gets into a bad state causing the phone to roam and not connect to the network. I posted instructions earlier in this thread. That fixed my problem every time. I happened a few times during the first week I owned the phone, but hasn't happened in about a month now. Martin Sent from my HTC One M8 using Tapatalk.
  8. Also, on S3, the bars are for the 1x voice connection which is also likely on 800MHz. The M8 parks on LTE which is likely at 1900 making it seem like it's not as good at holding signal. Martin Sent from my HTC One M8 using Tapatalk.
  9. I wish I could turn on battery saver permanently without the status icon. When I use it, I only enable the "slow down cpu" and "kill data when screen off" options which extends the battery enough for me. I found that most effects don't work when zoomed in, so I gave up on zoom and just crop photo later if needed. The phone is a little too tall, but if they could shrink it vertically by removing the HTC logo, it'd be perfect. I know they give excuse that there electronics under it, but obviously I'd assume some re-arranging can be done.
  10. I actually haven't had to re-"self-activate" my phone in a few weeks. There were definitely some issues before, but either the update or towers got updated, or phone learned from its prior mistakes.
  11. Until there's LTE roaming between providers, there won't be a need for Preferred Roaming List (PRL). Sent from my HTC One M8 using Tapatalk.
  12. What apps specifically are you listening with. I listen to a lot of music with SoundCloud, but haven't had any stuttering unless I enter a dead zone and my cache empties. Sent from my HTC One M8 using Tapatalk.
  13. I found that, but where does 831C come from? It's the same name used in the dialer where it lists the name of Bluetooth devices, so I thought 831C is the Bluetooth name of my phone. Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
  14. Here's a question. Where do I change the name of my phone from "831C" to something better? Seems like Tapatalk extracted it from somewhere, but where? It also appears during a call when switching between, Bluetooth, speakerphone or the device. Martin Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
  15. If you still have your old phone, can you try the following to see if phone starts connecting again? 1) Go to dialer and enter: 2) ##SCRTN# (##72786#) 3) Press MENU in top right corner 4) Select "Reset" I'm curious if this really is a hardware issue that will be fixed with a new device, or a software issue that will happen with your new phone eventually anyway. Also, what is the state of NV upgrades in your market? Is it fully upgraded to LTE / In progress / not started? I found that traveling through / between upgraded/non-upgraded sites ends to hose up connectivity. -Martin
  16. Sweet! Great to see one of the stalled markets finally move forward. We still need: * SF Downtown / SOMA * PAMPA - Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Atherton * South San Jose When I was in PA the other day, I did seem to get LTE in downtown on the streets on my HTC M8, so I did a speed test and got 50Mbit down. Sounds like some Band 41 is already deployed there, but that only gets you outdoor areas. Still need everything else upgraded as well.
  17. My theory is that the phone has trouble going between NV upgraded and non-upgraded towers. In addition to checking for hardware differences, it would be interested to note what market the phone is used in and where trouble occurs.
  18. I'm traveling to Europe next month, so I called Sprint to get the M8 Sim-Unlocked. They did that, now I'd like to test it. Sprint that it's unlocked only for international SIM cards, and not domestic. has anyone confirmed that?
  19. Reruns self-activation which resets the radios better than reboot or airplane mode toggle when you have serious connection issues and miss calls or can't dial.
  20. Switch the phone to LTE Only mode. You won't get calls/sms, but phone will prefer LTE. There's a dialer code for it, but people in the forum use to check if tower has LTE when eCFSB is not up yet.
  21. Replacement is not needed. Simply do this until a software update fixes the robustness: 1) Go to dialer and enter: 2) ##SCRTN# (##72786#) 3) Press MENU in top right corner 4) Select "Reset"
  22. The ecsfb issues are likely problems on the side of the phone and the robustness (or lack there of) of the implementation. I posted the following in the Clearwire TD-LTE 2600 forum regarding connectivity issues. For me the issue starts when I travel between upgraded and unupgraded areas, and the phone has trouble in the "upgraded areas" - ones with LTE, eCSFB etc. It's usually the unupgraded -> upgraded direction that's the problem. Here are my symptoms: * Phone might might be roaming * Phone won't not complete a call or send sms * Phone won't receive sms * Phone won't connect to 3G or LTE data I've been to the Sprint store twice now when this happens, and here's how they fix it: 1) Go to dialer and enter: 2) ##SCRTN# (##72786#) 3) Press MENU in top right corner 4) Select "Reset" This will cause the phone to go through self-activation again and clears up the problem completely even when power cycling and airplane mode toggle does not. It's quite a big hammer, but luckily, it's only happened to me twice so far. I doubt this is a software issue given that a reset fixes the problem completely. The phone really needs another software update to address this, and I was today's update would've, but alas... it's becoming clear that Sprint (and now HTC) is aware of the issue given the frequency and others experience, so hopefully a patch will fix this soon. -Martin
  23. I've had this happening all day yesterday in San Jose. When I went back to San Francisco, the problem cleared up. This morning, the problem persisted back in San Jose, so I took the phone to a store. She did some internal software update - not sure which one - as well as PRL/data updates and phone slowly started working again. I suspect the phone gets into a bad state when there's a tower issue - whether it's eCSFB upgrade, general downtime, etc. One strange thing is that when phone starts roaming, it can't complete calls or send/receive SMSs. And I don't know what it takes to get it out that bad state besides going far to a different market. I'd suspect there'll be a software update for this quite shortly.
  24. I've had no data since 10am through now... it's almost 4:30pm. Phone roaming on MetroPCS. Haven't seen it this bad in a long time.
  25. LTE (or eCSFB) is out in bay area this morning. My phone had no signal around 7-8:30am, and now it's got 3G but frequently starts roaming. Normally, I'd be pissed, but after reading this board, outages usually mean good things are coming.
