  1. The screen coming on and staying on, really bothers me a ton.  I know this is happening in my pocket often and has to contribute to some of the terrible battery life.  I'm not sure if OD3 will be our next update, although the RDF has been sitting out there for 3 weeks without a new one showing up, but I DO hope that some sort of fix comes soon.  It's been very frustrating to use the S5.

All I know is that there's no way that our phones are "so outdated" that they can't run extremely smooth on 5.x.  And why can't we get the Camera2 API baked into our camera software on the S5 for the pro features.  We know it can run it.  Or how about the slimmed down TW, or perhaps screen pinning and guest modes?  Samsung (and all Android OEMs) really hamstring their older (<1 year!) phones and produce too many devices.  I mean its a fact that we all know, but dealing with the "flagship" S5 for the past couple months has been painful and really highlights the huge issues that Android suffers from. Slow performance, apps crashing, random heat ups, screen on constantly, terrible battery life......Seriously, fix it up.

It's interesting that I'm not seeing any of these issues.  I wonder what could be causing this?  I DO see the slow performance (maybe), at times.  The phone overall doesn't seem to be "snappy".  But I don't know if that's the phone or the OS.

Also, I do get the Contacts has crashed error frequently.

  2. SMS will go through but it goes through the macro network just like the S5 per the Sprint FAQ.  If there is no signal from the macro network, there will be no SMS sent through the wifi.

I didn't know SMS still went thru the macro network.  Interesting.

  3. As a comparison, T-Mobile's implementation of wifi calling on iOS includes HD audio and handoff to/from wifi/macro networks. Hopefully sprint will be able to support similar functionality soon. Does anyone know if there is something inherent in Sprints implementation of wifi calling which prohibits these two functions?

T-Mobile is pioneering seamless handover between our LTE network and any available Wi-Fi connection so calls don’t drop between the two. Next-gen Wi-Fi Calling also features HD Voice quality, when calling another HD Voice-capable user. This means our customers can now maintain crystal clear HD Voice calls, whether connected to T-Mobile LTE or Wi-Fi connect – all using their existing T-Mobile number.

Is this b/c T-Mobile has implemented VoLTE?

  4. What does this mean for us? Do we have to get new phones?!? Isn't the note edge the only phone with all the capabilities to truly utilize this? I'm just hoping they really get the speeds up to snuff with everyone else, because even in the places that have b41 active, the speeds...well, just make me a little sad :(

That was my question.  Are there any phones out now, or coming soon, that have the capabilities to take advantage of all of this?

  5. It depends on where I am. What's glaring the drop from LTE to nothing. I was walking through Grand Central and my phone was sitting pretty on Emergency Calls only while my Sprint phone had 3G.

It all comes down to site placement, and power output.

What is Emergency Calls only?  Is that a network status specific to TMobile?

  6. I'm ready for them to give us the guest mode feature.  :-)

Also, does anybody know if this is possible.  Have the phone set so that if you swipe to unlock, it automatically puts it in guest mode.  But if you use your fingerprint, it will unlock normally?

    That would be cool.

  7. Security, Smart Lock. You may have to first allow the Security, Trust Agent for Smart Lock. Then it appears in your Security menu.

sent from an underwater dust storm from my Sprint S5

Yeah, I don't see the option under Security.  Where do I allow Security, Trust Agent?

  8. Has anyone been having your phonr completely freeze requiring a battery pull, and once reatarted your phone is completely black, and you get "system isnt reaponding " message, and needs anotjer battery pull, then works fine for bit

    Not getting that here.

  9. I have noticed that occasionally my "System" sounds will get maxed out on my sounds.  But I have an app called Trigger that deals with sounds so I figured it was just a Lollipop bug with Trigger rather than the phone.

I spoke with a woman from Marcelo's executive team yesterday (not unique, I know).  But she had interfaced with the "product development team" responsible for the S5.  They, according to her, had NO knowledge of any of these bugs that people are experiencing (on these forums, the Sprint forums, and XDA).  And she listed a very short list of issues with WiFi connectivity, something with G+ contacts, and one other issue.  So I know at least she actually talked to the team as those are known issues with the S5.  But terrible battery life, wakelocks, memory drains causing app closure, sluggish performance, Contacts force closing (not the aforementioned G+ contact issue), were all unknown to her/the team.  I suggested that they place anyone from the product team in their forums and she said, "that's probably a good idea".  Man, I sure hope that someone there knows what's going on better than the team responsible for our phones does.  I mean, hopefully Samsung?  But that's unlikely.

    Me too.

Also, I do not have the Trigger app.

  10. Does anybody else sometimes have your phone make a really loud unlock sound when you unlock the phone?  It's happened twice since I've had Lollipop installed.

I go to unlock my phone (I just have a swipe lock screen), and it makes the usual unlock sound, but it's really loud.  Sounds like it maxes out the speakers.

  11. I think we all would like more accurate maps, but at the same time, all the carriers overstate their coverage and having accurate maps will be a negative potential customers are looking at coverage maps between different carriers.

I disagree.  Say a customer joins Sprint because they see they have extensive Spark coverage in their area from the coverage maps.  Then when they actually use their phone in those areas and find out there's actually no coverage there, they will jump ship.  I equate that to lying.

I'm not saying that Sprint is the only one that may be doing this, I'm just saying I would rather see an accurate coverage map compared to an exaggerated or inaccurate one.

    But that's just me.  :-)
