Just turning on, lighting up like I hit the power button. I can just leave it sit on a table and occasionally, not related to any notification, the screen will turn on. Annoying.
sent from an underwater dust storm from my Sprint S5
Oh, ok. Yeah again, that doesn't happen to me.

I just really, really, really want my screen to stop popping on in my pocket or on my charger occasionally. It happens even booted into safe mode so it's not an app kicking the screen on.
"popping"? What does that mean?

Oh you big liar! No way you have no leaks!
How many apps do you have installed? You don't see your homescreen redraw after using the camera application? I find that hard to believe. I have 4x S5s in my family plan and I've checked this on all of them. Resource management is turrible on the S5 with our build even with very few apps installed or a ton.
I have 79 apps installed (so says Google Play app). And to be honest, I don't use the camera app that much. So no, I don't see homescreen redraw.
Now, I do notice that my phone is "laggy" sometimes when opening apps. Maybe that's a "leak" issue?

No memory leaks for me. Still looking forward to 5.1.X though. :-)

I voluntarily switched to a Sprint Family Share Pack (40GB) because it provided me with better features (i.e. tethering included). Additionally, it costs less and still provides me with about 5x more data than I use.. so, it was a no brainier for me.
How many phones do you have on that plan?

Interesting article about Sprint's 2.5 Ghz spectrum deployment: http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/adventures-sprint-and-magical-25-ghz-spectrum/2015-06-17?utm_medium=rss&utm_source=feedly&utm_campaign=rss

I am using a Samsung S-5. I do not have that issue, however, I have fine wi-fi calling service at home and even some other places where my phone is able to latch onto good Wi-Fi. I do notice a slight delay in the voice sometimes, Not real bad. Many people would not notice it, but an experienced person will.
Quite often, at night while I am sleeping, the Wi-Fi calling on my phone crashes. Next morning, I have to just turn off the Wi-Fi and turn it back on in Settings. It re-syncs and I am fine all day. I have not been able to figure out why it does that. I have tried various ways to prove that my Wi-Fi and internet at home is staying operational all night. I can not find any issue with my internet or Wi-Fi service. Yet, the Wi-Fi calling crashes at night. I might suspect that they work on this service quite often since it is new and if so, they might be re-booting it at night, maybe. For some reason, I have to re-start it manually.
The reason for the need to do a manual restart is unknown. When I drive away from my home, the Wi-Fi drops and immediately the phone syncs to LTE. Coming back home, as I enter my driveway, the LTE drops and the phone quickly Syncs to the Wi-Fi Calling with no assistance at all. I do have the ASUS router that Sprint provided.
This happens to me too. (the WiFi crashing overnight, that is)

Does anybody know if Dish has any buildout requirements for any of the spectrum they own?
-
Anyone ever gotten this random pop up on their GS5? I checked the task manager and it seems to be coming from the NetworkSystemProvider application. Is this anything harmful or something I should be concerned about?
After a while, the phone gave me the same message without the 'Later' option and when it rebooted, it gave me the message "Optimizing App... 1 of 1".
I've never seem that before.

I noticed on FCC dashboard that Sprint has more than 5x5 1900 here. Its like 20 mhz. Will they ever utilize that or just deploy 2.5? Also is there a chance that Sprint aquires the 1900 spectrum that Dish holds as they will likely have to give it up anyway if they merge. Thanks.
The rest of that 20 Mhz is PROBABLY being used for their 3G network currently.

The map uses the data from the FCC database which can be very hard to parse. If you click around enough, you'll find that Sprint actually has 800 MHz SMR holdings nationwide, just scattered across different categories of licenses due to oddities of the database. I don't put much stock in the 2.5 GHz data because of the scatterbrained way it's licensed.

Yeah. Case in point, that map shows that Sprint only has about 60 Mhz of 2.5 GHz spectrum, when I've seen articles saying that in some markets they have up to 120 Mhz.

Just got an email about trying out a trial of Sprint's new loyalty program called "Sprint Points"
looks like you download an app and then shop through participating online retailers and for every 1 point you earn you get $1 service credit on your account.
Nice thought, but I don't do a lot of online shopping. :-(

I wish I was a fly on the wall during Masa Sons and Marcelo's conversation. But in 18-24 months I see Sprint having 3x Carriers (60mhz) of band 41 deployed and FDD and TDD CA!
And hopefully as much "native" coverage as Verizon (through smaller regional carriers or whatever).
-
Just checked the Sprint Coverage Map again for the nTelos area's. Now its all purple again just showing 3g. So not sure whats going on their.
Yeah, I noticed that too.
-
I just looked at their coverage map today, and they HAD LTE coverage along I-77 in WV but today they do not.

3G is such a rare sight these days.
Sprint has always been a good experience, but now it's amazing!
That's interesting because I see 3G more than I should around the Cleveland area. Even when the Sprint coverage map says I should see good Spark and/or good 4G coverage, I get 3G when outside.
I'm not complaining. I'm sure they're working on it, just saying.

Does anybody know how to change the 4G icon (the spinning Spark icon) WITHOUT rooting the phone?

If he is seeing the option on his Device, he no longer is on the GS5...
Ah, ok.
-
CA support is still in FIT testing. LTE-A will be enabled very soon, also, your device will need a software update to enable the option.
I thought the GS5 didn't support CA?
-
Keep the same battery capacity, too and I'm sold.
That too. Also with 3x CA and ability to do VoLTE. Also, with LTE band 12.
Oh, also QHD display and a pretty descent camera (on front and back).

I want a 5 inch version of the nexus 6. :-)

None...... YET.
But as I lay here with a mad case of insomnia, a strange light caught my attention... It was my damn phone turning the screen on and not turning back off automatically while charging (wired).
This is absolutely absurd. I'm done with purchasing Samsung phones.
Interesting, I've never had or heard of this issue.

Is anybody on the Best Buy One Plan with the GS6? If so, could you tell me your experience? Is it easy to get setup? What plan were you on before? Is it really just $75 a month?

Yes, I've been using the stock Lollipop build since it came out. I'm on the OD3 build now.
