  1. Mike, will you be utilizing new pre-Alpha/Beta 100 user testing channel announced yesterday?

Now a new channel is available, preceding even the alpha, under the "test channel" name. It's specifically made for internal tests, letting developers quickly deploy their new app or update to select users through the Store without having to send them the APK file manually.

They changed the policy within the last year. You used to be able to get one for free through International Chat, but they closed that loophole. No way that I'm aware of to get one without paying $10.

I tweeted to Marcelo and support reached out to me, asking about my experience.  I told what happened and I had an appointment scheduled for Wednesday.  The lady asked if she could call me.  She called about an hour later and said that the stores are rarely carrying SIM cards any longer?!?!?! (seems like a CS just making it up as they go along) and insisted I do the order from telesales.  She comp'd my account the $10 for the shipping charge, then transferred me to telesales.

It was a very weird experience, I had no issue goin to the Sprint store on Wednesday, but it'll save my lunch break, so I'll take it.

Can't wait to get my phone, got shipping notification from Google, the current eta is Saturday, but it hasn't been picked up yet, so maybe Friday?

Check out the link below, it provides info about the SIM you need. I dont know the exact description but pretty sure it will help.

I totally forgot about that thread, thanks!!!

Ugh, reached out to oline chat support and they will gladly send me a free SIM for $10.  What gives?  SIMs have always shipped for free in the past, maybe its just bee awhile for me?

Have an appt my my local Sprint store for Wednesday to get a "Free" SIM...

  4. Just placed an order for a Pixel 2 XL from the Google Store.  They are offering $200 off when you use thier 0% financing and a free 2nd charger.  My Nexus 6P had to have a warranty battery replacement a few months back and is already exhibiting battery issues again (shutting off at 5%-10%).  They offered me another $150 off for my 6P, so I figured why not.

Very excited to get this in the next few days, but I'll need to get an update SIM.  Is LTEGSM 4FF REM ISIM V2 correct?

I'm just so-so about it. The phones I was most excited about were the Galaxy S2, Galaxy S4, and Nexus 5

I was so geeked for the S2 (Epic 4G Touch was the Sprint name) and that phone turned out to be such junk.  Terrible radio, then the hard bricking.  Loved the S4T & Note 2.

Well, I just made an exciting discovery. I picked up an iPhone 5s without an active service plan to test bands in my area and guess what I found?! Band 26 in Midtown Detroit. See for yourself! As expected, the site it connected to is only broadcasting a 3mhz channel. This is very exciting but unfortunatly I was standing right next to the site that has multiple B41 channels broadcasting(I'm aware this phone doesn't support band 41), however this site broadcasts a 10 mHz band 25 channel and possibly an additional 5 mhz channel. (I'm not sure the 5mhz could be coming from a different cell site). You would think that the site would place me on band 25 as priority considering I was about 100 feet away from the macro. Some network tuning needs to be done because there is no reason I should've connected to this band so close to the tower. Maybe its because its an iPhone 5s? I'm not sure. Either way its exciting to see this especially with my proximity to Canada. But if it forces everyone on this channel it will be completely unusable considering the population density of this area is 12,000 people per square mile....... Any thoughts on this?

I had to disable B26 on my Nexus 6P due to this exact issue.  My phone would camp on this or B41 (which was terribly over subscribed) in downtown Lansing, with zero thruput.  randomly I'd cycle thru B25 and get great service.  Ended up disabling both B26 & B41 for awhile.

I would think the priority would be B41->B25->B26, but who knows

Okay, I was just curious because I have a cabin in northern Michigan where several iden sites are on the list to be converted to Sprint along a major highway (interstate 75 to be exact). If I can connect to one of these sites at the cabin that currently does not have service without these new additional sites, and a magic box can connect to them once they are finished being upgraded, I can finally ditch at&t.

Edit: I would like to add that Verizon does not have coverage in this area.

I took mine to Lake Charlevoix last Labor Day.  It latched on to B25 as a source and provided great coverage for the cottage we were using. :)

There is a ton of competition even in equal areas and there will be more if those companies are allowed to make it a two sides market.

So much competition, ha.  My only options are capped plans from mobile providers or satellite.  No wired, no wisp, no competition, no options. I live two miles out of town, in a neighborhood, but we can't get the only cable provider to run service down here.

More sand castles in the sky. It didnt have anytime before net neutrality (2015) and it wont happen now. The cable package comparison make zero sense if you think about it for just five seconds.  The internet has not had net neutrality regulations for its entire history out side of the last year and a half and no one has been able to package the internet in the way you are talking.

    Take a look at Portugal....

That isnt true. People have to want to go to the internet to want to pay for the ISP. the content providers are not going to be chanrge so much, nor will content providers be able to pass the cost on to consumer. Look, why would the ISP s just charge consumers more per gig so that it would be prohibatively expensive for them to stream video? That is another way the could go even in a net neutral environment, but guess what, they havent done it. Weird thing is it doesn't maximize profits. They arent going to charge the other side of the market so much that they make netflix so expensice no one would use it, that would kill their business because that is what people want to use on the internet, why they want to pay for ISPs.

You guys are scaring youselves with fantastic outcomes that arent coming to happen and dont make sense, all to protect the profits of big content. It is going to be fine if Netflix makes a little less money.

Do you want to be nickle and dimed for every service you want to use?

    Example...

Comcast/Xfinity is your ISP, you pay say $70/month, so all the NBC Universal Streaming services are untiered, they want you to use their services, view their commercials, etc

But wait, you want ESPN GO, Fox Sports Go, NBA League Pass, MLS Live, etc then in addition to paying the provider for those services, you need yo pay Comcast an extra $5/month

Hold on, you love you social media platforms, well Twitter, Instagram, facebook, reddit, etc are going to cost you $5/month

Oh you like video streaming? Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, Paramount, etc kick Comcast about $15/month, on top of paying for the services.

You might still be able to use all these services for your $70/month, but the data rates will be heavily capped or rate shaped to extort more money from you.

Couple years down the road, new ISP pops up and you switch because its the same $70 for faster speeds.  Uh oh, its not Xfinity any longer, so all those NBC Universal streaming services that have been given network priority at no cost to you, stump up $25/month to the new ISP.

As noted earlier, just because this hasn't happened, doesn't mean it won't.  Corporations a greedy and will squeeze every penny they can out of every side of a business deal to drive up stock prices.  There isn't any competition in the Wired Internet market because the infrastructure is so freaking expensive and so hard to deploy with the myraid of local government regulations.

I am on day 2 of using this phone now, I took advantage of the deal as well. I really do love this phone, but seeing the same signal quality issues. Have not done any comparisons yet, but when traveling to work with Android auto I see the no connection symbol a lot more. Also got a GPS lost alert a couple of times.

I have a very poor signal at home already, so glad it does have wifi calling. I will have to do some comparisons with my other phone over the weekend.

I'm also disappointed that Sprint is holding back the updates. May have to invest in a simple card just for that.

This happened with the MXPE, to get around we pulled the SIM and connected directly to a WiFi connection, then updates were available.

what is your subsidy?  like under a contract or like a loyalty credit or something?  i was still in a 2 year contract so i paid off the ETF and had the upgrade eligibility reset and i was able to get this deal.

Under contract, My mom needed a new phone, so I used a subsidy upgrade a bit over a year ago to get her a 128gb Galaxy S6 for free.  It's got 9 months left, so it'd would cost me $180.

THis would be a great deal if it worked out.

Can you set up a brand new account not associated with your ed1500? And just cancel after you pay off lease

Oh really? How about just setting up a new line with a new plan. Then canceling?

Nope, I think because my account still has the subsidy flag.  I got the option to add a line for 29.99/month, Plus the $5/month lease, plus $25.00 up front.

New beta just uploaded! Should fix the missing LTE extras and also hides individual "Unknown" neighbor cells by default. Option under Display Settings if you prefer to see each one.

The updates over the weekend resolved the extras issue :)
